the murder rate in London is 1.31 per 100,000 population, the murder rate in Louisville is 20.3. Dangerous is doing a lot of heavy lifting, if you count public intoxication and multiple charges at each crime scene, The Uk is a benign place.
In the 1960s I was a computer programmer at Notts County council and 1 of the systems i looked after was crime statistics. I remember having to change the stats programs to cate for over recovery of bicycles. In one month 10 bikes were stolen but 15 bikes were recovered.
This shot of "Birmingham" at 6:10 is actually in Nottingham. It's Carrington Street. You've got Crunch Munch on the left with the bridge going over the canal, and a path at the side leads to the law courts. On the right is Bunny's bikes, with the pale blue exterior, ( It's no longer there though).
idk about anyone else but i live in bradford and as a woman i am terrified to walk through bradford alone in the day never mind once it gets dark, that's a whole other story. every corner you turn there is someone drunk, on drugs, with their face covered by a mask or waiting till you pass them so they can follow you. honestly not surprised that bradford was rated number 1 most dangerous.
Alright, as a Notts resident I'm going to play devil's advocate. If our council actually drew the lines that actually included regions of Nottingham which aren't literally just student accommodation and added the suburban areas which aren't included, our crime rate would be lower per capita. Some of the areas should obviously be part of Nottingham, the others can't decide if they are in Nottingham or Derby. But crime isn't too bad here. I think the increase of crime here is no different from what is going on everywhere else, our whole country is going to the dogs
Its an interesting definition of dangerous. Having a bicycle stolen is not normally considered dangerous, I would suggest. If your bike is taken from where it is parked/locked up, I would not think this counts as dangerous, annoying but not dangerous. In some parts of London bike theft has moved to knocking riders off to then steal the bike, that is dangerous. Also burglary, I would rarely consider as dangerous. The other thing that is poor with these comparisons they work on the number of residents, I would suggest that dangerous crimes are often committed against non-residents. I would suggest this channel's (Learning Canteen) use of statistic are rubbish.
JT, you scrolled past the US in that list. It's number 132 and is at 1:42. I also used to live in Nottingham. It's way better than it was in the early 2000's when it became the worst place in the UK for gun crime and was dubbed the "Gun Crime Capital". It took the shooting of an innocent 14 year old girl that had spent the evening at a large funfair to turn things around. She was only a matter yards from her home when someone decided to lean out of his mates car window and start shooting anyone and anything. Naturally, there was a public outcry and the police HAD to be seen doing something about it.

Hi JT. I need to say I’m 55 yrs old. I’ve lived all around the UK & abroad . I personally have never witnessed any violent crime in this country. I have never witnessed gang violence. Never saw any gangs tbh. I’ve witnessed one violent action which was abroad I won’t say where. I feel safe walking around my city ( Liverpool) day or night. I’ve travelled the world. Been to many places. But tbh I haven’t been to the US. It scares me. With gun crime it just puts me off going. Which is really sad as I have good friends in the US & family. I think there’s bad parts of all places tbh. We lived in a sleepy village down south a number of years ago. The only time we ever had a break in was in Berkshire. Had our car broken into. Other than that had no break ins etc here in the UK. Xx
Liverpool is one of the safer UK cities. I lived there for 20 years and never had any problems. On the other hand, Bradford, Manchester, London.... I've had way too many negative experiences. Same type of person in each city too.
i live in birmingham, i was suprised we made the list but when i think about it it does make sense, a lot of people get stabbed over here, sometimes no reason, mistaken identity happens quit often, a guy round my dads was stabbed over a watch, i heard about a stabbing near a collage that lead to a knife search on my campus, i hear about adults stabbing children but also kids stabbing adults and other kids. One of my moms old mates was murdered 5 minutes down the road from our flat if i remember correctly they were after his dad for drug money and he tried to protect his dad. there are alot of crimes like that especially down solihull.

In Coventry they did it in broad daylight on a populated street and in Doncaster it was within throwing distance of a police station! 😆 Some of the pictures used in this video are very old and Doncaster is most definitely not on the coast.
The main thing I would take away from this is that basically everywhere in Europe is pretty safe. The main reason? No guns and a strong social safety net.
I’m from Bradford and most of the crimes here share the same root problem, it’s all down to mass unemployment due to a gross mismanagement of both local and national government resources and services. Currently our local council has a collective bee in their bonnets against allowing any kind of vehicle to easily access the city centre and if you do manage to find an open space in a car park, the fees that we get charged are constantly being increased, but there are so many uninsured and unregistered vehicles on Bradfords roads that the authorities can’t get a grip on who has a license to drive, what with people who drive on one license for multiple family members and crash for cash scams that extend into family members who run back street car repair shops and charge for work that never existed.
@andrewcoates6641 I agree. The insurance companies were instructed by the government a long time ago, to cut out this crash for cash scam debacle. Obviously, nothing of the sort has been done and things are now out of hand. I live in Halifax, which is about nine miles from Bradistan, (Bradford) and insurance costs are so high because of this proximity to the worst place in THE WHOLE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM, probably including Northern Ireland as well, for crime in general. Well done in your comment for not mentioning anything to do with ethnicity.

That was in 1998/99. We had neighbours both sides a d opposite but though friendly , nobody ever saw anything.

As someone in Nottingham suburb I can attest that Pedigree is made here and every summer the local area is rancid air, with that and the lovely water treatment plant/maggot farms nearby, the city itself and touristy bits are great just dont go to town at night on weekend
I’m from Coventry we had the most violent street in Europe for 20 years in a row (lucky me used to work there) only a war stopped it hitting 21. I’m guessing when you think of bike theft it’s generally a fairly peaceful cut the lock and ride away not ripping somebody off it and beat them up which tends to happen here.
Wow! Living in the Midlands, I didn't realise the crime rate around Birmingham or Coventry. I suppose the safest thing to say is "dont cycle in an expensive bike near Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham or Leicester"
I went to Coventry for the transport museum with my nephew, I parked my car like 100 metres away in a car park around the corner. When I went back to car had a guy haveing a go at me because I was overweight at the time. When I ignored him he started screaming at me. (this is in the city centre in broad daylight.) I also noticed lots of crazy drivers. I certainly won't return to Coventry anytime soon, you would have to pay me.
Tbh, the numbers being quoted on here are pretty vague. There’s no real breakdown of what the crimes being committed are and the how serious the crimes are Also “Other Crimes” covers things like perjury, forgery and miscellaneous crime which covers things like prank phone calls.
Hello JT. Bradfordian here. I get told in comments it is the most dangerous city outside of a war zone. I grew up in Manningham, which is seen as dangerous by Bradfordians. I have walked around New York, San Francisco and Cuidad Juárez as well as London, Paris and Rome and not been worried. You learn to keep an eye out and avoid trouble.
@@mummyandhoney3325 At university, fellow students could not believe I walked round Manchester and Salford. When I said I was from Bradford, some looked on their local map and thought I was from the one there, where Manchester City have since moved to. The UK has one of the lowest murder rates in the World. It's even been lower than Japan's in some recent years! Overall violent crime is also pretty low and the UK is one of the safest countries in which to live, in the entire World! Unfortunately some people like to sensationalise everything and blow things out of all proportion, usually for political reasons... In contrast, the US has, by far, the highest murder rate in the Western World and the highest violent crime rate too!

Most of the people in the UK know exactly why the crime rates are growing year on year, you should check the stats of "uninvited guests" and their dispersal patterns for it to make sense. I used to work the doors in Coventry and an American visiting wouldn't know that pew pews have been completely banned if you saw what I've seen, theres that many, very dangerous place if your face don't fit.

As a lifelong Londoner, I used to go clubbing in Tottenham then walk home at 3am at 16yo. I lived near Kings Cross before it was gentrified. Never been mugged, never been robbed, been groped on a crowded train a few times but loudly calling out the pervert soon put a stop to that. My partner has been in 2 traffic accident while cycling - both due to slippery roads and no one else involved. I've been lightly hit by cars about 6 times (mostly as a teen).
The other thing you have to take into account is, its not the entire town/city that is the problem, its just smaller areas within that town/city. For example, you could stand in kensington wit ha £50 note sticking out of your ass crack and you dont have to worry about getting mugged. But if you happened to wander into one of the inner city areas, then it can get a bit dodgy. Same for birmingham, there are plenty of parts of birmingham where you only find rich people and big ass houses. but there are also areas of birmingham where it is absolutely not wise to walk alone. Every place has its good and bad parts, you just have to know which places are which.
There's a gigantic street robbery problem in Kensington due exactly to the levels of wealth on display gangs robbing £150K watches of people's wrists etc
Nottingham is actually the 8th largest city. It’s urban area has a population of roughly 813,000. London is the smallest city in the U.K. if sizes were measured as Nottingham is in this video; the City of London has a population of only 8,600
The thing about a lot of violent crime is that certain groups in society are particularly vulnerable, perhaps because of the estates they live on, their lifestyle, or the demographic they belong to. Most people in all cities in the UK carry on a very normal crime-free life. As tourists you are not likely to be a victim of violent crime - you are most likely to be pick-pocketed or scammed, not attacked.
😂 I live in Nottingham, once nicknamed shottingham for its gun crime. Though that has changed dramatically now, frankly feel perfectly safe to be honest, bike theft is a bugger though
Bike crime to me is the most noticeable here in Denmark . That's basically daily that someone ask have you seen my bike, i left it at the station. This is a town with about 5000 people. I had 3 mountainbikes stolen here. So for the last 12 years the new one comes inside with me. And its never left st s station. It comes with me ANYWHERE i go. I lock it with several D locks to the city basically. So you'd have to rip up the pavement or a gate that weighs the same as a car to steal it. That's always worked fine. But i dont take chances with my boles ad they are always high end bikes. I come from a family where bikes costing 3000-6000 pounds are the norm so most tend to just do a ride and then take it inside. Im not up in that league but i still dont leave my bike anywhere. 😊 Regarding crime,it can be very crazy in England my home country. In the 90s ot was difficult to go to the Hacienda in Manchester without experiencing guns coming out and shooting at someone on the dancefloor,it was the time of the drug wars and the norm was ro send 2-3 16-17 year olds in do their shooting and fuck off on their BMX bikes. Try and have fun time with that whilst out clubbing.. and we cant forget the beautiful giræ that got blow away from machine gun fite whilst standing outside her fave pub last year. They never came back with what that was about. But i myself have experienced at least 10-12 incidents living in England that im not sure could happend here. I saw more violence in one month on Southport than 50 years in Denmark could ever do ..i feel you need 100+ more years to experience the violence and crazy stuff i saw up there in 4-5 months...
Uk gets 40 million tourist in a small land too and some the crime effects them too like they was involved or victims so technically crime rate is lower per person
This is an AI generated video I believe JT. I wouldn't base a reaction on a video that could offend people in some of these great places while being total AI junk.
Manchester and Liverpool should be on the list. 2 of the roughest cities with actual notorious crime gangs. Not just grooming gangs like in the places mentioned on the list.
I went to university in Coventry, it's got alot worse since those days. Particularly for things like knife crime, unfortunately. The colourful buildings you saw was done up for when it was named city if culture. Also, it wasn't a castle you saw, it was the old bombed cathedral and the newer built one. It's where we had our summer balls and graduation ceremony.
That's clearly an AI talking Reminds me of a funny comedy sketch I saw years ago (The Brittas Empire) "In 1981 - no-one died" "In 1982 - no-one died" "In 1983 - no-one died" "In 1984 - no-one died" "In 1985 - someone died" "In 1986 - no-one died" "In 1987 - no-one died" "In 1988 - no-one died" "In 1989 - no-one died" "I could go on .."

As someone in Nottingham suburb I can attest that Pedigree is made here and every summer the local area is rancid air, with that and the lovely water treatment plant/maggot farms nearby, the city itself and touristy bits are great just dont go to town at night on weekend
sadly we have a high knife crime rates.
londons safe. just dont walk around in peckham at 3 am wearing a rolex and ask random people for drugs you should be fine
Nobody can afford a Rolex in Peckham unless you got it down the market off Del 😂😂
I suppose the safest thing to say is "dont cycle in an expensive bike near Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham or Leicester"
you would be suprised how much guns we actualy have in the uk
JT, come to Edinburgh - it is often regarded as one of the safest cities in the world!
Bradford and everyone living in the UK could tell you the real reason but youtube would not allow you to say...
Bicycle theft can be dangerous, there was a spate of "bike jackings" here in Hackney, mostly expensive e-bikes and Brompton folding bikes.
I live in Sheffield (south yorkshire) only an hours drive to Doncaster but I never go to Doncaster because it's not a great place.
Im from bradford and there are some really good parts..but its the same everywhere
Lol. I live in coventry (last 7years). I use to live in London (25years).
When I go london, I'm scared to walk or drive.
the 149 per 1000 to 58 per 1000 in doncaster is probably due to covid lockdowns, less people out and about, means less crime
He wasn't focusing on the video properly. The 58 per 1000 was talking about sexual offences in that year.
Doncaster is where the famous Flying Scotsman steam locomotive was built along with many others.
Tbh, the numbers being quoted on here are pretty vague. There’s no real breakdown of what the crimes being committed are and the how serious the crimes are
Also “Other Crimes” covers things like perjury, forgery and miscellaneous crime which covers things like prank phone calls.
Wunt dare walk round Mannigham!
@@mummyandhoney3325 At university, fellow students could not believe I walked round Manchester and Salford. When I said I was from Bradford, some looked on their local map and thought I was from the one there, where Manchester City have since moved to.
When Sir Alok Sharma went up to Salford precinct on his "girly" looking bicycle, I went with him, thinking what the locals might do, but then I realised he was not at all threatening and probably more safe than me.
But London is MUCH worse than anywhere else in England. By far the least friendly city I've ever seen in the UK.
@@TheRealRedAceI recently spent 3 nights down in London and it didnt seem bad to me. I remember reading that in 2023 many cities in northern England had higher murder rates than London. It's just they don't get the same media coverage. Get your facts right
@TheRealRedAce are u on cr×ck? Lol n where is your sources for that information u clearly researched in depthly? Lol u can't compare ldn to places like Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester... nah.. Nice try lol
@@TheRealRedAce it's so much safer than most other places in the UK and people I find our way friendlier.
@@TheRealRedAce Friendly doesn't equal safe. Liverpool's friendly, & also has a big problem with drug gangs & shootings.
I live in Nottingham and it's pretty decent! Few bad areas but you get that everywhere 🤷🏼♀️
IM FROM BRUM NEVER KNEW THAT .Brum is ok and im old . come to brum you will be safe
I live in Doncaster 🙈 Yeah, it's bad.
It's the drug users around the market area, just outside french gate and sometimes colonnades that make it look bad. Nearly every time I go into town now I see some swearing and shouting and asking people for money
@@MoviesNGames007uk Yes I agree, don't know where in Doncaster you live but where I live it's not great, can't leave anything out in garden, wouldn't go out alone after dark and worry a lot for my children when they go out.
99.9% of the time, 99.9% of the UK is perfectly safe if you take normal sensible precautions.
The Wild West Midlands living up to its name ✌️💯
9:16 Aerial shot of my hometown of Bangor County Down for some reason. Its not great but its nowhere near being on this list. I know, I know it's just random stock footage, but still...
I live in doncaster and have done for 44 years in a village of Bentley yeah it's touted as rough but it's not that bad but it's still not great love the vids dude live tk Anna you and the furr babies ❤
Don't forget people of a criminal persuasion tend to commit more then 1 crime each in a year.
@@iainlittle4735 and they tend to be muslims, who commit crimes 10x more than natives.
Bycical theft in the UK is dangerous as it normally involves confrontation with knifes as alot of modern bicycles are expensive here
As a lifelong Londoner, I used to go clubbing in Tottenham then walk home at 3am at 16yo.
Bradistan number 1 i wonder why lol
Come to Sheffield the best city in England JT❤
You should do a reaction video to watching the film twin town
Come to west yorkshire we super friendly ❤❤
This list surely can't be accurate!?! 😂 on ya bike, pal! 😂
Being from Doncaster I’m not at all surprised, just trying to be happy Doncaster has had a mention in a JT video… I guess 😂
OMG it was more like a math lesson 🤣
Personally think most city’s or Towns where ever you go has their bad no go areas, you just have to know which parts to avoid.
How Luton isn’t on this list is astonishing
Yo, I was watching this and thought - My hometown, Bradford, can’t be on , but - it no.1 lmao 🤪 I’ve just got out from a 30mth sentence tho ✌️🙏🏻😎
Why did the dude have a random shot from Barmouth, Wales in the Doncaster footage?
Like all cities they are areas you don’t want to be in but as a whole I have never felt really unsafe unless alone on london trains and underground
😂 I live in Nottingham, once nicknamed shottingham for its gun crime. Though that has changed dramatically now, frankly feel perfectly safe to be honest, bike theft is a bugger though
@@jamesmarston666 indeed, and Stapleford used to get nicknamed as Stabbo due to knife crime
Just proves that Gloucester is one of the safest and friendliest cities here 😁
Bike crime to me is the most noticeable here in Denmark .
Doncaster is a nice city I like it definitely should be lower on the list if on it at all
Manchester and Liverpool should be on the list. 2 of the roughest cities with actual notorious crime gangs.
Not just grooming gangs like in the places mentioned on the list.
😂😂
1:33 how is ireland second gangs are very violent there
im not surprised to see my home town as number 1 and yes JD theyve even stolen a bike from next door this week too 😓
that list needs updating its stuck in the past pretty sure Liverpool makes it on the list
Pedigree is also owned by Mars (the company that makes mars bars)
That's clearly an AI talking
Reminds me of a funny comedy sketch I saw years ago (The Brittas Empire)
"In 1981 - no-one died"
"In 1982 - no-one died"
"In 1983 - no-one died"
"In 1984 - no-one died"
"In 1985 - someone died"
"In 1986 - no-one died"
"In 1987 - no-one died"
"In 1988 - no-one died"
"In 1989 - no-one died"
"I could go on .."
That was "The Day Today", swimming pool episode 🙂
@@DavidFrankland We need to get clever - that AI fooled everybody except me, and it's only going to get worse
JT you need to watch nativity and then you'll find out about Coventry
Hi jt I love your videos if u come to the uk please come to York or hull I would love to meet you and say thank u for the amazing videos ❤❤
All these places have one thing in common, especially Bradford 😂
