'Were you at Anfield when we won for the first time in 73 years?'
I was. My dad thought I was mental to shlep all the way up there to watch us lose again as usual. He was quite jealous when I saw him the next day.

I was there. great support as usual. Off the train at edge hill, on the buses for a tour back in time through the slums, off at stanley pk and into the ground. Party time! good ol crooksy!!... on the buses back to edge hill, the locals showered us with gifts in the shape of bricks while the old bill did nothing. Even had a little reception at altrincham with more bricks through the windows! haha happy days arriving at euston looking like we had been through a war zone!. A very memorable day

I was there that day, your right the bus back to edge hill was entertaining. The supporters club handed out pennants to all those who travelled that day.

I was there first Spurs match aged 13, school trip from Belfast(99% were pool fans lol). Sat in front row right behind Ray Clemence's goal. Magical.

Hard to believe that stat. And it's not like Tottenham were a small club until shortly before that time. They had the greatest English player of all time Jimmy Greaves in the 1960s.

Tottenham won at Anfield in 1912 the year the Titanic sank and didn't win again at Anfield until 1985 the year the Titanic was found and both Tottenham wins were on exactly the same date March 16th the only times Tottenham played those dates at Anfield in all those years

Clive Allen getting injured earlier in the season IMO cost Spurs the league. They should have won the league that season. Ive been supporting Tottenham since 1970 and that was the ONLY year they had a REAL run at winning the league. 82 the fixture pile up sis for them

i know its old post but you're right that was the one time I remember Spurs having a run at winning the league. ( until last season).
If my memory is correct we was in the race until we played rivals Everton at WHL around March in a night match. We lost 1-0
this win against LFC was such a big thing I remember spurs were selling souvenirs at WHL

the 84-5 season with 13 games to go Spurs and Everton were level on points. 9 of Tottrnhams last 13 games were at home. They should have won the league comfortably but lost at home to Villa Everton Arsenal Ipswich and Watford

The shame...I had been to a Rugby game in Cardiff ( probably an
International,my only feeble excuse).I was in the Conway pub on Cathedral Road at about 5.15 when I heard the result and I screamed in delight to the bemusement of the egg chasers around me.I was exceptionally drunk that night.

the 86-7 team was a great team as well but ;Liverpool & Everton made the title a two horse race and Tottenham finished third. Sadly October 22nd 1987 was the day Tottenham ceased to be a big club for almost 20 years. The day the club appointed the ghastly Terry (El Tel) Venables as manager

Tottenham were a big club in the 80s. But Liverpool dominated the 80s in the same way United dominated the 90s and 2000s.
