I loved the video! A LOT! It means so much to see how happy you are with all your new stitchy toys. 😄 Yes, you're welcome to show the pattern in a later video if you like. If not, that's fine, too. It was just such a great blessing to see how excited you were and to know how much fun you'll be having, trying everything out! I know these things have been a game-changer for me, and I know you'll enjoy stitching and crafting that much more now that you have them. 😄 Happy birthday all over again! 😄 And Happy, Happy, Happy Creating!
Noted, thank you, I thought it was better safe than sorry with the pattern since I hadn't explicitly asked! So excited to get started on it next month, I have it all planned out :D Thank you thank you thank you for the bajillionth time!
ALWAYS the BEST Time watching your delight video come beaming up to the stars and down to us in Washington State……what a thoughtful gift from a such a kind Friend here in the States…..looking forward to the reviews…..Happy Honeymoon In July…..we are celebrating our 50th end of June…..what a wonderful wild ride it has been …..have fun
I felt that way about finally getting some of those tiny little plastic drawers to hold safety pins and things instead of just leaving them lying in piles around the room. Sometimes it's the little things! :D
I'd been playing with some of the other stuff first, especially as it's nice and light until late at night here at the moment. But this has me really excited to give it a go :D
I do also like the thread magic for kit flosses that leave a lot to be desired. Some kit floss is fine, some of it is dreadful. While I have been known to swap out kit flosses for the closest dmc I can find, usually it isn’t worth the time and money. While I rarely use thread magic on DMC (except metallics) it can be very much a game changer if not necessary for some of the kit flosses. For example, I have a cheap kit set I found on “the river” of 3 printed patterns on 11ct Aida, that will end up being a pretty tryptic of flowers each about 7x15 inches. I picked it up to have an “easy project” all set and ready to go in my big tote bag that I tend to take with me on long days when I need all the things. Occasionally on such days I find myself stuck waiting around for 20-30 minutes for one thing or another and I’d like to do something better for my mental health with the time than just doom scroll, but I also don’t want to have to fuss with a pattern, and highlighters, and reading glasses, and 50+ colors of floss. So the idea was a cross stitch project that I could pick up and put down almost immediately with no fuss and be able to just zone out and stitch along except when changing colors. If I remember right the whole kit of 3 was like $12 USD. But at that price the quality of the floss and Aida isn’t great, so a little thread magic makes it sooo much easier and more pleasant to work on.
Really good point! I definitely have a few of the cheaper threads lying around and found them especially difficult with hand embroidery, now you have me wondering if the conditioner could solve that problem or at least make it more bearable 🤔
Love this! Tip on the needele holder. Add a small magnet to both the top and end of the box on the end opposite of the lip to get a more secure closure to the tin.
So much love put into all this just for you!!! It is really nice!!! Enjoy... Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us... Happy Birthday!!! Keep up the good work ❤
What a wonderful gift! I particularly like the button lights (need to get some of those) and the end weavers (I do so enjoy playing thread chicken). I can't wait for Part B. :D
Yesss, those lights blew my mind a bit, such a simple little thing really but it just never occurred to me something like that might exist. Replaceable batteries, too! Thread weavers are now officially living in the always-with-me notions pouch, so I have absolutely no excuse for falling back into bad habits :D
awwww that's such a thoughtful gift! Bits and bobs in a bag always scratches a brain itch too. Would love to see a tutorial of the laying tool if you feel it's useful!
Do you mean the pink and blue and yellow one? That was a special edition Eurovision colourway from Baa Baa Brighouse, not sure if they'll be bringing it back or have any spares. I did a whole video if you want a closer look! ua-cam.com/video/3rMZqtdPD3c/v-deo.html
I'm really curious about seeing how the laying tool works, especially how one holds it / juggles it while stitching! Also I watched this right when it came out - am I a true Michelle stan again?
My daughter and both her kids (7&9)v use their needle minders on the Aida cloth. My daughter laughed at me when she saw that I placed my needle minder on my shirt over my heart. Needle minders are a form of jewelry to me! Am I the only one?
Me watching this video.."ohh add to basket....that looks good to, add to basket....and that..."😂 I couldn't find any tail end weavers in the UK though, I will need to do a more in depth search for those 😊 I usually end up having to half weave the needle through and then re-threading it as I leave the yarn shorter than the needle so it unthreads when I try to weave the ends in, I do not like starting a new thread for 1-2 final stitches.
Hmm I tried to do a quick search and also couldn't immediately find any, that's a surprise to me! Seems like the trick is to make an american friend and then have a big milestone birthday...have you tried that? 😂
Taking notes over months to create the perfect gift is the nicest thing ever! She's amazing! 🥰 I think I only knew the needle threader among all those goodies so I will be ready to learn about all the other items in part 2(b)! 🤭 PS: Love seeing you with the earrings but all I see is the mistakes I made looking straight back at me 🤣
So helpful! Thank you! ❤ I’m a new stitcher and have already managed to accumulate many tools and patterns. 😅I’m confused by the phrase “ stitching 2 over 2” or “1 over 2” and what it means (number of floss threads over number of squares?) Any recommendations on videos or resources that explain?
Welcome to the hobby! And congratulations on the rapidly expanding kit, haha! You've pretty much got it down, 2 over 2 would be two strands, with one stitch using up two squares of the fabric. 2 over 1, two strands, one square. 1 over 2, one strand, two squares, etc etc. But if you want more detail on different fabric counts and how to generally stitch on them I made this video a while back that might possibly be useful, if memory serves it includes a scribbled diagram to illustrate the above 😅 ua-cam.com/video/PW1I6fDpF1M/v-deo.html
I'm trying not to get my hopes up but also a bit excited at the prospect of being able to use metallics again, haha! Had a few requests for a demo of the laying tool so I better become an expert at using this thing real fast :D
Oohh I recently got beeswax and I'm not sure it's doing much for me (although it's winter here so not sure if it just needs to be warmed a little 🤔)... so I'm keen to know how you find it and if there are any tips/tricks! What a lovely gift and congrats on the new lamp 😉
I like the thread magic better for exactly that reason. Beeswax can be a challenge to keep at just the right temp. If it gets too hot it’ll make a mess, too cold and you get negligible coverage on the threads. I have a friend who swears by beeswax, and keeps it in her pocket or tucked between her thighs while stitching to keep it warm. Personally I don’t find either conditioner is worth the trouble if you’re using good quality floss and Aida and non metallics. But if you are using metallic threads or you’re working a kit with some not great quality floss and Aida it can make a huge difference.
@mylifewithmarmalade4624 oh, good tips! Yes I've given up with beeswax for cross stitch as I use DMC and aida :) I've been persevering for embroidery purposes though as my linen is less forgiving
I really hate to ask but can you find out where the pouch came from? I go to lots of cross stitch retreats and a pouch they could stitch on would be a perfect table gift. Thank you so much.
Hi there! I got it at Hobby Lobby, but I also did a quick search today and found that the manufacturer ("Everything Mary") appears to have their own website, and may also be found on Amazon, eBay and Facebook. Apparently several retailers also carry their products. They have several matching accessories that can be purchased separately too, though those don't seem to have cross stitch-able panels on them like the zippered pouches do. Hope this helps! Take care, and Happy Stitching! 😄
Hi, there! I found them at Lowes, in the flashlight and lantern section. If you don't have a Lowes near you, you may be able to look up "Lux Pro" and find them that way. They have rechargeable headlamps and all kinds of lighted things that come in really handy! I have two of the rechargeable headlamps, too, as our apartment is kind of dark, so I use one and have the other on to charge so it's ready when I need it. A lot of their products come with batteries too, which is really nice. 😄 The button lights each come with their own batteries and the bottoms screw off so you can replace them, which is nice, too.
I loved the video! A LOT! It means so much to see how happy you are with all your new stitchy toys. 😄 Yes, you're welcome to show the pattern in a later video if you like. If not, that's fine, too. Love the thread magic!! Life saver. Also can use a chap stick in a pinch. Makes metallics actually enjoyable or at least tolerable.

What a lovely person stitch 26 is. So kind of her. Hope you had a fantastic birthday. X
I really, really did. Thank you so much, and I completely agree!
The light up retractable threader is one of my personal favorites. It’s much sturdier and so helpful on the go.

Is there an advent calendar for cross stitch tools and accessories? That could be fun.

Whats the Autumn pattern you talk about?
I have a tin also and It is very useful. I have not lost a needle yet using a tin..

I've heard of a laying tool but didn't know what it was. Thread magic I have used. It was the only way I could use Dmc Diamont.
