@@ben3291 The T7 generation of Transporter is going to become available this year, so they are just trying to get as much out of the old platform as possible.
I am a bit disappointed that every time you guys bring the Vito to a race you always use the low end version of it. If it had been the 119 with 190 hp and rwd it probably would have smoked those other vans. Other than that as always great video and very nice content! Keep it up!
This is a tug o war vid. RWD would mean less weight over the driven wheels and more power would make no difference since this one could spin the wheels easily anyway. If anything the 119 would lose by more.
57 for s transit. Who on earth would pay for that tarted up works van? Crazy. Also daft putting low profile tyres on a van, need durable rubber for potholes etc. Rather see a drag race.
Alloy wheels made of steel on the Benz... yeah Matt, this one was not that good. Tug of war with different tyres on slippery ground is pointless. Better do a Trailer-Dragrace or something similar with these vans.
Vw are going to use Ford combustion and platforms very soon for their commercial vans and pick-up (part of the deal with Ford after Vw group diesel & petrol gate with emission cheat devices fitted as up to 400% over max legal limit of pollution allowed, with Ford getting Vw smaller electric car platform in exchange) so basically will be re badged Fords soon hence why would you think they would have won. Vw then Merc would win at being the most deadly toxic!
Matt, these tug of war are never fair while relying on a tow hitch that's not at the centre of the rear like a tow bar. otherwise there is a reduction in effective grip on the opposite side from the tow hitches.
I was hoping that the transporter was going to be a 4 motion sportline. Better still matt try and get hold of a 4 motion 204 dsg swamper van on BF goodridge Ko 2 tyres next time as they would surely bet the transit hands down .
You know, would be nice if Carwow and Mat would review these sort of vans and campervans or RVs and motorhomes, like how he reviewed the VW Grand CA. Any ways, exciting video, never even knew that Transit existed lol.
I personally think the standard highest spec transit (Limited) is much better, it has more tech, you can get it with 130hp or 170hp with a 6-speed auto or a 6-speed auto. It also is much much cheaper, more like around 37k, I don’t think there is any point in buying one of those aftermarket bodykit transits.
There ain't no Altimas in the UK, we have Camrys.. but they are basic and not TRD versions like in the US. Most off the Civics are 1.0L Turbos and some 1.5s.. most off the Mazda 6s are 2.2L turbo diesel or 2.0L non turbo petrol. Nissan don't sell saloon cars anymore in the UK and when they did a long tíme ago. They were called the Primera and Maxima. .Honda also pulled the Accord from the UK market about 6 to 7 years ago and the Toyota Camry is not a good seller and never really was.. Toyotas main saloon car was the Avensis and Carina before it. The Accord and Camry might be good sellers in the US. But the Mazda 6 outsold both off them combined here.
I wonder why they don't make these over concrete. The results on grass are not reliable: the first car that loses traction (usually because of the tires) will always loose.
57k for a fire van???!!!! The world has gone mad! Who are these cars being made for? Who on earth, who needs a van can actually afford to pay 57k for one??
Should we do van reviews on our channel?
Yes please :D

Next tug of war: f35 lightning fighter jet vs rimac nivera

@@Neg2YGO what abt the weight bruh. F35 is liek 7 times more heavy than nevera and also f35 has a towing capacity of 6000 kg!

TOW are pretty boring, don’t prove much, depends a lot on tyres…yawn zzzzz
Mat, i don’t understand… the Merc has also a 119CDI version (2.0 190 hp) with rear traction, this one should have competed here 😰
I agree with you. I don't understand why they haven't choosed this version of Vito.
No, get the 122 CDI. It has a 3 liter v 6. 240 hp. Top of the range ford and VW vs top of the range Vito.
My dad has a 119 people told me it looks like a rocket when I hit the gas paddle
@@abdellah070 rocket? 🤣🤣
Hardly a fair comparison
Would've been more interesting if it was on tarmac instead of wet grass/mud think it might have been a different outcome
Probably requested by whoever loaned them the vans to preserve the clutches
Tyres would vaporize
£57k for a Ford Transit...that's my good laugh for the day.
Its msrt mate just not a regular transit, picture rolling down the highstreet in that bad boy
And forgot to mention £56k for a VW That underneath its nearly 20 years old .
@@ben3291 The T7 generation of Transporter is going to become available this year, so they are just trying to get as much out of the old platform as possible.
@@I_THE_ME true but unlike the T7 Multivan the cargo T7 is actually the next generation of Transit custom
@@tundaslug07 It is very cool and I get the premium, but think 57k is a bit steep tho still.
You chose the wrong vito, you need the one with around 200 hp. That thing is a beast
And 4x4
Mercedes sprinters are pretty quick.

Agree this it is a bad test he should have taken a 119 4 wheel drive
Well, the Transporter also has a model with 4 wheel drive. Isn't that Vito just a rebadged Renault/Opel?
This is a tug o war vid. RWD would mean less weight over the driven wheels and more power would make no difference since this one could spin the wheels easily anyway. If anything the 119 would lose by more.
@@I_THE_ME It is a Renault. All diesel engines used by Mercedes up to 170 hp from 2009 onwards are from Renault.
it doesnt matter. if your profile of your tires are filled with mud then you have little traction no matter the power
£56,000 for a Van, I’ve just lost touch with reality, how do people afford that? Interesting Vid though
3:59 when the Mercedes driver jump on the seat kills me 🤣🤣
All that tugging and no mess.
Impressive.
For 57k i'd expect that Transit to do more than look embarrassing
Good because it also sounds embarrassing
I actually love the look of it, am I the only one?😂
LOVE my Transit custom, only the limited version but still an amazing van to have.
57 for s transit. Who on earth would pay for that tarted up works van? Crazy. Also daft putting low profile tyres on a van, need durable rubber for potholes etc. Rather see a drag race.
I would really love to see a drag race between a Datsun 280zx Turbo (1981-1983)and a Porsche 911 SC (1980-1983)
You brought the 622 engine version of the Vito. Essentially a Renault !!! You need a juicy 651 or 654 in there

Mainly down to driver and tyres
It was simply the fatty in the group, there was just no getting around that (except if you add 4WD).
The two vans will become one next year
@Afrodyta 💪💪
Need to use a 119 Vito (they are quite quick)
arent quick*

even my dad has a van called Nissan Vanette NV200 with 1.6l petrol engine producing 110HP and 153NM of torque😁
voided Ford warranty by towing VW 2035kg over 1800kg capacity as specified ?
4:04 that turbo noise is so freaking great 🥰
quick question, a sport transit, a sport VW, and a basic Vito, has Mercedes upset you Matt?
I love panel vans and van comparing.More of these,Mat!
The first best van video
Matt, these tug of war are never fair while relying on a tow hitch that's not at the centre of the rear like a tow bar. otherwise there is a reduction in effective grip on the opposite side from the tow hitches.
Mat thank you so much for this insane video
When I can you do a top of the range sports van drag race?
Mercedes have a sporty van as well, you should have tried that one
They wouldn't try that one as it would have won hands down LOL
This is more like a test of who has better factory tires.
Nearly 60k on a van 😳😳 not a chance why is there a market for such a thing
Matt, would love to have seen the difference the 4motion would have made to this test
57k for a gutless 2.0L diesel and naff body kit? On your bike Ford.
I was hoping that the transporter was going to be a 4 motion sportline. Better still matt try and get hold of a 4 motion 204 dsg swamper van on BF goodridge Ko 2 tyres next time as they would surely bet the transit hands down .
At least this was a like-for-like challenge! No point competing a FWD with road tyres vs 4x4 with offroad tiyres...
The Ford and VW cost more than an entry level Toyota Landcruiser 300 in Australia? No level of accessories makes that good value.
Mat do a TUG-OF-WAR with AMG GLE 63 Coupe vs Urus with Yianni if it's possible
WHY? What's it even matter on wet, muddy grass? I could have bet that in my dirt bike.
I'm sure its the weight difference... its harder to pull a heavier object. A fairer test would be on tarmac/asphalt
True but would be horrible for clutch and transmission
@@mohabeats4674 Absolutely, I guess the vehicle donors wouldn't allow a "dry" test for that reason.
MSRT MOTORSPORT ROAD TECHNOLOGY...THE ULTIMATE VAN 👍

This is really about a war of tires
1:39 pretty sure that's steel wheels with hub caps?!
So you take the top of the range transit and the bottom of the range Vito

but why on wet gras do it on the asaphalt instead

How bout doing same thing but on tarmac
Why didn't you do this on a lake frozen over? Or with the vans on 4 jack stands with the wheels off the ground?
You need to do this with the 119: with a 187bhp engine
The man in the blue van did not cross the bridge with the grey dog on Thursday.

Sad you decided to pick the Vito with a renault engine (FWD).... Vito's have a real merc engine from 150 HP and from that point they will also be RWD
Rear drive would be pointless unless the van was loaded.
@@ChrisJBN that is true, but still they did not really use a merc they technically used a renault in the body of a merc.
