Main thing for me I’m enjoying the most is the larger screen. The 17” is just too small. Not sure if 19” is the sweet spot but it might be. My 24” or so ALU screen is amazing of course but if I had too many that size it might eat up too much space. I’ll have to think about it and measure my ALU again without the quad play I added. Yes XL is the way forward for sure.
Nope, XL is dumb imo. 3/4 fills the room and look way better. Everything is uniform to scale. Mixing 2 sizes looks dumb. Choose one or the other. If you choose xl it will take years to fill your room with XL cabs as they're S....L....O....W...L....Y releasing.
That’s all personal preference. Some folks want all XL. Others want all deluxe. Some want riser cabs. I mean the truth is the 3/4 scale cabs are not uniform. Also any arcade I’ve ever been to in my 45 years of existence didn’t have uniform arcade cabs. It’s your home arcade build it how you want it but to say bring uniform vs non uniform is an asinine. Every arcade was a little different and it gave each establishment CHARACTER. just like the current products give each home arcade enthusiast the ability to build out their own. My arcade is a mix and it looks FANTASTIC to me and many other. Fully uniform looks fantastic too. To each his/her own. 🍻
The cab looks awesome my friend. I was unfortunate and mine didn’t work so I had to return it. I ended up getting the Ms. Pac-Man 40th Anniversary instead (250 bucks off I couldn’t pass it up) anyways, I love your passion for the cabs and for your games, the nostalgia lives on!
I have the ms Pac-Man black and pink cab to build still too. I love Ms. Pac-Man a lot too. I’m sorry your Pac-Man cab was defective. Was it the XL as well? What problem(s) did it have? I worry A1up Qualify Control is a little lax on this cab now with all I’m hearing from the community. Thank you for the kind words. I really do have a passion for gaming especially the arcade era. I’m also a big Atari Sega and Nintendo fan. 2600 Atari nes and snes plus master system and genesis were staples of my home console youth days.
Got this at a great price from Costco, appearance wise I think it’s the best version Arcade 1Up has rereleased yet again for Pac-Man. It has replaced the previous versions I had. What I don’t understand is why they did not include the switch giving you the option to turn off the illuminated buttons like the recently released Galaga Deluxe Vault Edition cabinet? Hopefully they can add it to the settings menu with a software update. The blemishes on the bezel around the black screws is a manufacturing defect, my XL has it too.
I think it is odd there’s no way to toggle the button light as well. I also hope they patch the emulation as there seems to be some judder/lag in gameplay. It is indeed the most authentic looking can Arcade1up has made to date.
I agree. I hope at the very least they do a mix and give us options on the popular cabs. For more special titles a limited run of say 2,000-10,000 would be great to give us all the chance to own cabs like this.
I like to have the largest cabs nearest the entry way, and all the 3/4 scale cabs at the far end of a room to give an illusion of an immense room for visitors, even though, on their way out, the illusion breaks. LOL. Better than that, is to just give the XLs, and AtGames UL/ULP4KPs their own room. Never put 3/4 scale cabs next to XLs, or the ALU. LOL Good luck on that room arrangement, and congrats on the Pac-Man XL.
Thank you! Well the fast and furious deluxe are quite tall too. I’m just trying to keep certain cabs close to the physical network connectivity I have in the room too like the fighting games and sports games. I’m going to give it a shot mixed and matched so I can plug in and see how it looks. If it’s horrible I’ll re arrange and buy longer cat 6/7 cables.
I used to play those cocktail cabs at the Pizza Hut in my home town. I love those things too. I played Pac-Man Ms Pac-Man Galaga frogged Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros during that era from 1980-1986. I used to game at the Gold Mine Arcade when I was a kid too.
We did here too. That’s awesome. A1up made some cocktail cabs. Pac-Man MvC Ms. Pac-Man to name a few. I just never snagged one. Now I’m thinking about it again. Or the Pong 4 player Pub Table

As far as Pac-Man is concerned. Yes it is as close as we have come so far. Doesn’t mean it can’t get better though. As great as everything is I don’t like those holes being so obvious even with the covers but that’s my only real gripe so far of the design. I’ll do a follow up down the road about how I feel about the cab. As for your mod ideas. That sounds really cool! The working coin door might be a little heavy for the material the stock one attached to. It is still thin like other cabs and much thinner than say the side wood pieces. Black vinyl around the marquee will make it Pop for sure. That marquee is money. So bright so white and colorful. Thank you for commenting post pics if you do your mods I would love to see them.
Wow, Did he reinforce the kick panel wood? I think you are right; the kick panel “wood” as is doesn’t feel heavy enough to support a real coin door. I hope someday they upgrade the kick panel wood so its as thick and heavy as the side panel wood. That would be awesome!
Also, unfortunately, I think this Pac-Man XL is 75 pounds, and not 95 - as the 1up website has it listed at 75. This is irritating and I think the biggest con of an otherwise great cab. The other XLs are 95-100 pounds so it seems they cheapened out in this way on this one:( Mine is pretty wobbly and I think this is because it is too big for its weight, if that makes sense. In fact, it weighs only about 10 more pounds than the Pac-Man deluxe! O well, maybe I’ll throw some weight in the inside bottom.
You’re right on the weight. I think I said 95 because that was the shipping weight or I have the KI Pro on my mind too. Either way it’s much easier to move than a full size cab from 1980. The Pac-Man XL only has 1 player control deck vs 4 for nba jam and 2 for KI Pro. Also the KI Pro has some other premium features to it but this Pac-Man cab isn’t a lower end cheap A1up product. It has the boe monitor speakers are great too but the base materials are the same as any other cab. That being said it still isn’t a real cab but I love it. It doesn’t feel cheap if feels as decent if not better than my MvC2 cab and my Street Fightet 2 Turbo cabs. I’ll build KI pro between now and Friday. I’ll compare the build quality between them.
As for the wobble mine is on carpet so I don’t have a wobble thankfully I even used move alls underneath it and she’s very stable. Are you on hard floors? If so you can try some furniture risers to help balance.
As much as the cabinet looks cool, I just wish there was an option to have the Japanese artwork, even if they still have to change Puck-man to Pac-man lol
I’m sure anything is possible with the right modding effort. This cab though the way the control deck is attached it would take some work. Not a drop in situation at all.
While this looks great as a fly-by, I played Galaxian on this and it was not good. Laggy, and bizarrely some of the graphics didn’t align. The Pac-Man game looks very good, so if that’s what you really care about, it’s good. They may fix this in an update. If you know that to be true, I’d love to hear it.
We as a community have asked them to fix this lag. The more I play the more I notice it. I do love Pac-Man the most and play that and super Pac-Man on this cab. Ms Pac-Man galaga galaxian and so on I play on my ALP or ALU via coin ops or on my gaming laptop via mame/coin Ops.

Maybe the camera but screen looks too bright, zero blacks. Is there a backlight control? Someone should make an extra custom tinted glass for the LCD, maybe even something with fake scanlines in it.
I found a setting for each game to turn on smoothing. Other than that I’m not finding anything else. In person the colors including black look good to me but nothing is perfect.
There’s a rom out there that can be played in say coinops x that emulates a fast ms Pac-Man. In the old arcade days some folks that ran arcades figured out how to enabled a faster ms Pac-Man and later on pacman too. It was an onboard hack of the original board. I came across folks that knew how to enable it myself and I never looked back so if you have an original cab you might be able to enable it. @@banzairunner7860 The speedup hack is on the Class of 81! Look it up, there are a few codes for that cabinet. Up up up, down down down, left right left right left will unlock classic Pac-Man, and there is another code that enables fast shots in Galaga as well as the speed hack in Ms. Pac-man. I believe it is the only official release that used the speed hack in Ms Pac-Man.
I have that cab as well and I love it. ALU is a great multicade. As for being taller. It isn’t. Wider screen. Yes. Pac-Man XL is VERY close to the original Pac-Man. I think my ALU has a 24 inch screen. The original Pac-Man is a 19” screen and so is the XL. For offline play. (No leader boards and no online vs) the ALU with coinops is very hard to beat. The emulation runs better as well. For pure nostalgia. For Myself. It’s hard to beat the Pac-Man XL.
Have to agree. I makes most other home arcade cabinets look kind of silly. XLs are the way forward!

It has some drawbacks but it’s a winner for sure. Probably the best we will get for a while in a Pac-Man cab. I hope Arcade1up makes more like this.

I bet you could have something custom made as a wrap/skin and get all of that done including a different marquee.
