The small town with the church in the video is saffron Walden. It’s the main high street through the centre of the town about 3 miles from Debden airfield. I was very lucky to meet some of the eagles as a child. I used to live in a pub in Debden called the plough and the eagles came to visit when there was a book launch called over paid over sexed and over here. I got many of the pilots to sign the book which is still in my possession. This is a great video thanks for sharing
My mother, Elma Rivis, was a plotter here until late summer 1942 when, pregnant with me, she had to eave the WAAF. My birth father, never revealed, was also here. Apparently my life began in Saffron Walden.
