  • On the Camp Chesterfield grounds, forgotten by time, unusual structures have been built, honoring ancient religions. For nearly 140 years, people have travelled long distances, to come here and have a spiritual experience, from the beyond.
Established in 1886, Camp Chesterfield has had a reputation for strange energies and experiences. Legend has it, that a supernatural vortex is located at the far end of the property, in the woods. Combined with supernatural healings, and seances attempting to communicate with the dead, it’s definitely one of the most unusual places in Indiana. This film explores the mysterious structures, and beliefs about this unusual and intriguing area.
Some people scoff at life after death, and think everything ends when our hearts stop. But not at Camp Chesterfield! Come along for an adventure, to one of Indiana’s most unusual places!

💖Ty for this vid Roger. As a child in the 50’s-60’s, our family traveled a number of summers to camp Chesterfield. So interesting to see now, it actually looks pretty much the same. Oh boy, I’ve got some stories about This place, my siblings and I were child type - Explorer’s there. I do recall these areas you showed, and honestly, the little old houses look minimally updated. I recall the big over hang porch that is now closed off with plywood on the now shuttered hotel. We stayed in the hotel, and sometimes we camped nearby. I especially recall the statue of the indigenous man with his arms raised to the 🌞sun. We picnicked near there a few times. Thanks again. 👌💖

Wow I can't believe you came to Camp Chesterfield! I've been watching you for years because we have a cabin down in Southern Indiana, but we live 2 minutes from Camp Chesterfield. I actually grew up there, my grandma and all of my aunts worked there keeping care of the 3 hotels. To the right of the front entrance, across from the Sunflower, used to be another hotel, but it burned down. It's built on Native American burial grounds. When I was a younger girl, probably 7ish years old, I was helping my mom make a bed in one of the hotel rooms of the hotel that later burned down. The light went off. Mom went over to the light switch and it was actually switched off. She looked down the hall and saw nobody, and switched it back on. We went back to making the bed, and the light switched off again. We both went to the doorway and looked down the hall to see who was messing with us. But all we saw was a native American man in white tribal regalia, walking away from us down the hall. But when he got near the end of the hall, he vanished into thin air. I'll never forget that place.

      @AdventureswithRoger  5 місяців тому +2

Wow! The spiritualists have recognized the area as special, possibly from the very beginning. That area behind the pyramid is supposedly a “natural vortex”, but I couldn’t find further details. All the native burial sites, that I’ve ever visited, always have supernatural stories.
Many people have connected the dots from the camp to the ancient mounds, just down the road. Same people say there’s an ancient spiritual connection, and suggest that all these strange sites are magnetically connected, ie “ley lines”. It’s an interesting subject, but I haven’t found much information.

Camp Chesterfield is a very interesting location. I grew up in the Anderson, Indiana area and have spent alot of time at the camp.
Being a part-time paranormal investigator (videos of my investigations are on my UA-cam playlist "Our Investigations") I find the camp very enlightening, very spiritual and it's very easy to find great advice there in any spiritual niche.
I understand visiting your parents grave. When I make it down to Fairmount, IN from Michigan I visit my grandparent's grave, talk to them, cey a little and share my love.

I've been in every nook and cranny of all the buildings on this property in 1990 or 1991. Little rooms where who-knows-what kind of one-on-one spiritual sessions take/took place. I inspected their fire extinguishers and hoses (don't think they had any hoses) which means they have to open up everything, even the closed buildings, and off-limits buildings/rooms, for me to go through. (hotel, art building, other buildings were closed when I went) Not sure how many significant fires they've had over the years, but I'm pretty sure they had a significant one several to many years after I visited them. I dealt with an older lady who ran the place. It was one of the oddball places I visited. After all, everyone's required by law to have fire extinguishers and they're also required to have them checked annually.
...Now I'll watch your video, lol

Roger, I just want to say thank you for being the force that piqued my interest to go out and explore the places steeped in rich history that are all around me. I moved to Evansville from KY when I was 22 and am now 26. I’ve always been naturally curious about the world around me, specifically the history of the places where I live and the surrounding areas. And thanks to you I’ve added several locations to the list of places I like to go and contemplate about the past, or simply enjoy the present moment. Without you I would’ve never thought to go to some of these places. Now some of them are my favorite places to be. If you ask me there IS a reason that you are here - a very important one. Millions of people know about our beautiful, historical state because of you. Some stories they otherwise would’ve never known. In doing this you are helping to keep history alive, interesting, and accessible to countless people including young people like me. And that is priceless. You’re my favorite UA-camr and I think what you’re doing is so cool. Thank you Roger, for all the work you’ve put into these videos. My life has been genuinely enriched because of you, and I am so grateful.

When encountering less than love on spiritually bound entities… simply turn on your LOVE power full force.

Great video, I so enjoyed it, from the topic and the way you covered it to the ambience created throughout, which felt mysterious but not spooky. I especially appreciated the respect you gave to this site and its creators, as well as the balanced perspective on the various parties involved. I am someone who has been conscious of, for lack of a better phrase, "spiritual energies" throughout my life. I tend to agree about the hazards of trying to connect to spirits through Ouija boards, or any other method, unless you do so with sincere respect and a strong sense of your own spirituality. To approach what others consider sacred as a joke or for simple thrill-seeking is at a minimum childish and disrespectful, and possibly, as you say, inviting something into your life that you won't like or know how to deal with.

Thank-you, Carol! I’ve travelled to so many places with different values and beliefs, seeing other worlds I would’ve otherwise missed. It’s an honor to be a guest at what would be closed-off to outsiders. A person doesn’t have to agree with what’s presented, but it’s important to respect that freedom of religion. It’s a right not every country allows its citizens.

Has a similar story to larry bird except he stopped playing and started coaching to become one of the best coaches of all time.. Larry bird would be another good one. Then in 2000, as an adult I took a friend there who had an appointment with a clairvoyant. I stayed in the car and the lady i took came out crying because the clairvoyant tould her more than she should have known. I never " believed " as all my other family members did . I asked her, after she knew she was about to die if it was fake , and if she really believed . She claimed it wasn't , and she did . When mom passed some members from a downtown Indy Church came to her funeral where she last attended . It was always crazy when I told people I met that my mom was a Psychic :D .. Cool video ...

We had to fight with them to honor it . They were worried about how bad she'd look if they waited . Thankfully she looked fine . @@indycharlie In another video I did, about haunted places along the Ohio River, I briefly touched on what science knows, about dying. After respiration stops, our brains start firing messages in ways and for reasons not understood. There seems to be a relationship with electromagnetic activity, in both dying activities, and at “haunted” places. The spiritualists might well be onto something.

Maybe they are . The director at the Funeral Home gave us so much grief about the delayed embalming that was in her contract , and his insistence to do it within 24 hrs . I told him I'd sue his ass out of business if her wishes , clearly stated in the contract , were not complied with . My brother and I made a surprise visit on the 3rd day to see her , with my attorney . She had not been embalmed . Stay safe out there Roger ... @@AdventureswithRoger

Interesting for sure. Being raised as a Christian in a older wesleyan church, im 52 now have lived a life mostly as a good person but i didn't live as i was taught the Holy Bible shows us we are to live. As i have grown older i returned to my upbringing in the Christian church a try asi might to live a Godly life even tho i see so much deception , foolish, tricky, and evil around us. I witnessed many spiritual experiences within the church and in my life . That can only be our Lord Almighty!! Ill leave with this. Ephesians 6:12. Put on the whole armour of God,that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For wrestle not against flesh and blood , but against principalities, against powers, against the rulersof darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I love your channel. Being an Indiana native myself, I have to ask if you are aware of the Brewersville red haired giant?

    • @AdventureswithRoger

I am! I briefly covered it in my film about mounds in Indiana. A farmer found a pretty good-sized mound, covered in flagstone, started taking the stone to build. At some point, a very large skeleton was found, and the bones were shown to visitors at Keller Mill: it was kept in a large basket. Some bones were given away as souvenirs, but then there was a flood that hit the mill, and the bones disappeared. Another account was that the farmers kid kept some at the bones at the house, but his descendants can’t be located.

I actually grew up very close to Brewersville, I've even canoed through the old grist mill slew way that runs through the oxbow of Sand Creek. I actually dated a descendant of the grist mill owner, she was aware of the story but had no knowledge of the bones whereabouts at the time (mid 90's).@@AdventureswithRoger

Hey Roger. You were only about 15 miles south of me. Another well made and interesting video. This is the most that I have ever seen of the camp. As a Christian, I won't step foot in that place. I was glad to hear you say that you don't believe in the things practiced there. I will further say that the homage to Jesus there is deceiving. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me". (John 14:6). All of those other people of the past that are noted there, as statues and busts, will bow the knee to Him one day. (Romans 14:10-12). This is your channel Roger. If my statements bring unwanted comments, I won't be offended if you delete it.

I have a theory, but am waiting to hear from someone, that knows more than I do about the place.
Some people are like Thomas Jefferson, are comfortable throwing-out what doesn’t suit them, and keeping what makes them feel good. And some people use acceptable things, as a front for what isn’t: window dressing.

:45 although you could classify that as a tall pyramid or obelisk. Its probably a cone of power. Witches will construct them to channel power to energize a spell or ritual they have performed and are awaiting an outcome. This is the reason for the shape of classic Witches hat. That too is a cone of power.

There’s a small information plaque in front of the pyramid, talking about it being rumored to be a source of power, and then playing it down as an old story. Would be interesting, for several spiritually sensitive people, to visit and tell what they felt about it

“Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”
“Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you-I am He.” Gospel of John 4:19-25

If a person could look down from above, it would be like a crescent of statues looking forward, with Jesus in front and in the middle, also looking forward. All are the same height and seem oblivious to one another.
As an outsider, based solely on statue position, I got the impression that Jesus was only slightly more important to the spiritualists, than the other figures.
