It IS worth noting that roll CAN be good on approach shots if you're trying to gamble for a chip in from your approach, although that is of course difficult to do & is a gamble. But it may be worth it if you're down in strokes & need to make a comeback
Thank you for the tutorial sixpenny. As someone who basically knew nothing about golf your pga 2k tutorials and now mario golf have taught me the game. I greatly appreciate all the thorough tutorials and hardwork!
I believe you are mistaken on the colors of the grid lines, in adventure mode it teaches you that red is below the ball, white is even and blue is above the ball, I also just went into a match using the range finder and every red spot was negative vertical yards, then every blue spot was positive vertical yards I hope this helps with future videos, your videos so far have been VERY helpful lol Thank you!!!!!
Thank you for sharing that! Good to know! I am so used to the colors grids that show different shades of color based on how much break there is. Glad the videos have been helpful! Thank you for the kind words!
This video was useful, as was the first episode - tho I only see these 2 videos in the playback list..... did the other Mario-Golf Video projects get canceled? :(
Nice video. I'm trying to reverse engineer the mechanics of this game and comparing notes of sorts. The backspin is a very useful tool, but I wouldn't use it on every shot. Reduce the shot distance instead. This keeps the ball on the ground longer and increases the chances of it catching on the hole. Also a backspin shot that catches the hole can end up spinning away from the hole (at least precious MG games worked like this). Playing at championship levels requires occasional holeouts. Use backspin when there isn't enough space to land a shot on the green and roll across it to the hole. Also use it when the hole is on a downward slope to keep the ball from running away.
Thank you for sharing these tips! I always love diving into a new game and learning the ins and outs and learning tips from other gamers as well. Such a fun game to play!
What kind of bunkers do you have? You dont get more roll from a bunker? You get far less most the time because you have to hit the ball up higher. Top spin and standard spin ive found are great for approaching from bunkers or any shots that hit higher in the air. If you are getting a lot of roll its probably because of the club you are using. Different clubs have different elevations. The stronger the club the less height but more power/roll.
Nice video. You'd be surprised how much of this stuff people don't pick up on. It's too bad this game was a bit of a misfire at launch. It now has a thriving competitive scene on Discord, with a real Elo rating system. Do you still play?
Thank you! I have not played it very much recently, but I need to dive back in sometime soon! Yeah I wish they would have delayed it a month or two to have more content at launch, especially ranked play. Glad those features are in now though and that the competitive scene is starting to take off!
9:42 how did you move the pole down the bar?! Edit: I understand now, at, 16:36... I don't know why you didn't tell us before. Does, it, always go *"A, BB, then A, B"* in every shot?
I know! I keep hitting every shot from the rough and bunker way to far in my first few rounds. It is very strange that rough does not affect the distance
Your explanation of red/blue coloring of the grids is actually incorrect. It represents whether the elevation is going upward or downward, not the severity of it. The dotted lines themselves are what determine the severity of the elevation change. Red just signifies a drop in elevation while blue represents a rise.
Just wait until you unlock super duff shots basically blast it out of the sand. Super high flop shots, you also get a great wood that hits low stingers that is super useful

I grew up playing Hot Shots Golf: FORE! and you take a very similar strategy for the approach shots.
I loved playing the Hot Shot's Golf Series! So much fun!

Well not always is a bunker a pit, I think in balmy dunes it's more of a hill bunker around the whole course

THE whole rough not factoring in on distance throughs me for a loop haha.

Thanks for these videos. I'm trying to kick my girlfriends ass. Lol
LOL! Good luck out there!

Those shots are awesome in the adventure mode! So much fun to use!
