A lot of people have posted conflicting opinions here, but the video did not show what originally happened. Elephants are normally sociable animals and travel long distances in peace together. This Elephant did not look particularly big and might have been left by the herd and attacked by aggressive animals like Tigers (Look at it's ear) It might have panicked and stampeded into a human area and perhaps accidentally trampled a child or crushed a home. The local Authorities must have arranged to have it transported to a more suitable area because the truck was obviously purpose built for that sort of work and the men knew what they were doing including using tranquilizer darts. It does seem cruel to rope hobble the animal, but I can't think of a better way to do it practicably and assume it was only for the duration of the journey. Someone suggested using a tranquilizer to make it sleep which theoretically is a good idea, but then in order to move it they would need a heavy duty crane to lift it and the terrain might not be suitable and there might not be one available at the time needed. Someone else commented that the Elephant had no tusks which might have been taken by poachers, but I don't think that was the case because poachers usually kill their prey first.
So dangerous & hardship task... Any how accomplished it.. Dedicated team & dedicated services to the Wild animals... Very praiseworthy... Weldone! & GREAT SALUTE TO ALL THE TEAM....

Those of you feeling sad and compassionate for the elephant from the safety of your brick and mortar house should spend a few years living near jungles which has elephants and do some occupation related to jungle or do farming. They are not stealing it for a circus. They will tame it and then release it back when it is safe.
For whatever reason that Elephant was aggressive and unwelcome where it was in the first place, it must have been scared to death with all that noise, machinery and shouting people so close to it. The experts who had to get it tethered before the transport arrived must have been extremely brave. I hope that wherever the Elephant was relocated, it can calm down and live a happy life and possibly forgive the men who might have saved it's life from hunters.
There is a village nearby and the residents have gathered to see the elephants that scared the villagers are taken to a safe place by this highly trained medical patrol. The elephants will live in freedom in a safe place and not be harmed or killed by local farmers.
I THINK YOU DID A GOOD JOB, LOADING THAT AGGRESSIVE ELEPHANT... YOU GUYS DID A GREAT JOB...YOU MADE IT LOOK EASY, AND I KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT EASY TO DO....THANK YOU FOR A GOOD VIDEO....
The definition of the word cruelty. Elephants should be habitual to the wilderness not restrained by people who'd use them for circus acts or hard labour.
I think you stressed him more using that damned excavator - I'd be aggressive after that intrusion and noise !! Duuuuh ! turned it into a bloody picnic .
I would have demanding that beast be destroyed if he killed one of my loved ones. These arrogant dangerous creatures I couldn't care less if the excavator scared him or not. He lucky he's still breathing in my book
The people who’s bad mouthing these men for helping that poor elephant, did you take a close look at the elephant, the tusk is gone, it’s ears looks like it’s about to fall off, Yahweh Elohim bless those men because I know they’re going to take good care of that elephant and make new again .
How humilating an degrading for this Elephant! The Elephant was in it's own element an instantly swooped up like it had no right or purpose for being at all. I sincerely hope an pray that wherever it was tooken it was a good an safe place.
Sri Ram If The elephant had to be transferred to another piece of land or something for it's Safety.I would of Humanily shot him with sleeping medicine. Then moved him.. Wouldn't you want to hurt the person who did something like this to? If it gets angry an hurts someone,it's the humans fault!!!! Wild Animals are wild for a reason !!!!!!! The little man..
Rachele Ray I want to know whether you work for the Forest Dept? They know their job well and they are not ill treating the animal. Every westerner wants to assume ‘holier than thou’ attitude and think they are more compassionate than others. That’s the way some wildlife activists in the west paint picture about third world countries. By the way, do you have such varied wildlife in your country? I bet no. The forest Dept personnel are competent and compassionate and they know their job. So, as novices like us should not comment about the handling.
I’ve noticed in a number of elephant videos the animal has quite a number of lumps under the skin!!! Are these boils or other infections caused by scratches or sores on the skin. Apparently not an infection they overly worry about!!???
This elephant doesn't seems to be aggressive rather looks mischievous....Eephants loves to bath and play in water and puts mud on themself and also another reason is they use their trunks to rid of mosquito, flies, insects etc. from body, they use their trunk as hands same like how we use our hands, trunk are not that lengthy enough to to reach upto back so in such situations elephants put mud on themself. Nice technique of pulling the elephant without much hurting it. Good job. Use of kumki elephants can be dangerous as it can hurt the rogue elephant.

That animal is not aggressive at all. It is cruely tortured! They must get the law to protect animals in many Asian countries.
