Amy, It's so valuable to be able to listen to your knowledge about performing; you speak from a LOT of experience. Also, there are so many players (like me) who just play in their home, who have never really tried busking or much less a concert with their handpan songs. Your video made me think I *could* do it with the right mindset. And I'd just like to give a shoutout to anyone out there with social phobia or anxiety but who have music to share: people are eagerly awaiting your own lovely songs!
You said it perfectly, there will always be people who love what you have to share. It's such a beautiful gift to give someone - your inner world presented as music. Especially with these instruments. Even when I was still learning, sharing with friends and family always felt amazing
I started to play handpan 2 month ago and started directly from busking. Not because I know how to play or something like this. Just because my wife can't work while I practice at home. So I just have to go to the street and practice there ;) Already met a lot of great people
Thank you Amy for your insightful tips and to openly share them with us. I like looking at the art that artists surround themselves in. Like those curtains in the background for instance. Like the colors and patterns. Kevin
Haha, I've had that too, I don't mind it so much. And also kids either taking money out or throwing in stupid things like receipts, cigarette butts etc.
Very helpful Amy, that's just what I wanted to hear about right now. Things are getting back to normal and we have a performance date in August. Very inspiring!
Very valuable material. I think You probably mentioned everything, that is really important and what I also pay attention to, when playing for people in various situations. Thanks for that video. Best regards.
I play 3 hrs streight at an Indian restaurant, is a lot of time, the way I deal with, is to bring 2 or 3 HPans different scales to have more vibes and enjoy my self , I used a magnetic pickup with a street Roland cube to have more volumen and outreach in the whole room. I bring foot, hand and finger shakers, fingers cymbals to make the whole journey more rhythmically. Next step for me is to get a loop pedal so I can play some hand drums on top
thank you for this Amy! love seeing all your new vides ! can you please offer an advise on what equipment you would recommend to have for performing ? thank you!
Thanks Steve, I'll think on it! Not sure how I feel about teaching other people's songs - since it's theirs to share, not mine - but I can definitely talk about sining & playing
Thank you, Amy, for answering my question! It's really valuable and I'm appreciate this so much! You kinda structured my separated thoughts about this topic (or even 3 topics) and it gives me a little more confidence in what I'm doing and understanding in what I should strive for. Thanks for sharing your experience! When was your first time you go out for busking or to meditation class? how many months/years past when you decided you are ready to do it?
Thanks for the inspiration Dmitriy! It's a pleasure. 😊 My first time busking was not so long after I got the handpan, perhaps a few weeks or months. But I already had experience playing on the streets with my guitar so it wasn't such a big jump for me. I think the big thing is though, I didn't build my confidence to be able to play in public - I played in public to be able to build my confidence 😜
