More videos on fittings of higher handicaps are definitely nice to see. Really shows the potential of how an average player might benefit more than a skilled one
These types of fittings are what the golf community has been asking for. It really answers the question for those wondering if a fitting actually benefits higher handicap players. Great job on Trevor's part. Sure he was feeling some pressure not only of the fitting but also of those cameras rolling.
I have been through 4 fittings / 3 different companies for different parts of my game and not one came ANYWHERE close to what these two show us on their videos. I hope their influence permeates the new alliance.
Could you pls elaborate because other than the 10min golf lesson (which is huge) I didnt notice anything special fitting wise. Didnt mention shafts much, nothing on build length etc
There’s a place in the video where they list the different heads and shafts they tried but didn’t video. That takes much more time that a 10 minute video shows. These guys are on a quest to get the perfect match which is evident when they went all the way back to tweak the best choice once again to make sure it was the right choice. . Their depth of knowledge and reluctance to accept a fitting that is “close” sets them far and above any fitting I have experienced- I have used Dicks, Club Champion, and Golftec - no one was close to this level of commitment
@@papashuk26 I saw that but that quite normal procedure, nothing really out of ordinary fitting wise. No word on swing weight lie angle shaft length and different shafts etc
@@papashuk26 hope you find a good one soon! All the best 👍😀⛳🐦 Tbh txg have shown more in depth fittings in their past videos and probably why I was underwhelmed by this one.
For me this is what makes being fit by a specialist club builder like TXG, is by far worlds away from store fits. The addition information (coaching in a form) that enables you to get the best from the fitting and just makes the whole experience so worth while. Be it TXG Canada (if your lucky enough) or Custom Lab Golf in the UK (where I get fit) it’s just a completely different product. Get fit yes, but get fit by the right people with the right knowledge. Your golf game will only get better for it. Well done TXG
I work at one of the busiest PGA superstores in the country and all the fitters watch TXG and try to incorporate their protocols in our fittings. Main thing is TXG also have club data instead of just ball data like lots of retailers only have.
Kinda love that as a golfer- I become immediately emotionally invested in this random stranger’s progress. Thrilled for Trevor that M&I found something that worked so well for him.
A video with a mid handicap player with a more average swing speed is interesting to watch! I appreciate that you spent a little time on his swing, that probably helps just as much if not more than the new driver.
I agree with this. I’m off 12, got to 11 last year but made big changes over winter. Shooting for 7, but will be happy if I come up short at 9. Definitely helping me grind and put the work in
Love the fitting videos… we get to see TXG in their natural environment helping real people find better. It would be a great to keep this as a regular feature ie fitting of the week or month 👍🏻
Watching the fitting of the mid/high handicap players has actully helped me address flaws within my own swing. The early extension is a distance killer.
I fell for the Stealth last season in the fitting. I was the same, knocking it by all the others. Felt great. First few rounds, my CH speed dropped out of fear on the course, and the club was just too low spin for my course speed. It's ok mashing balls into a no consequence range, but add complexity and fear, and a need to put a scorecard in, and you slow down. Can't help it. So I ended up in Ping land with a tad more spin. Expensive experiment.
Oh man, PLEASE show the other adjustments you made with Trevor! I'm a 13 handicap and would love to see where I may have any overlap with the tweaks and changes you offered him
I have a club review/fitting tomorrow at our local Club Champion. I chose this venue based on the work of this channel. I truly hope my experience comes close to what we see here.
Dang it!!!!! Every time i think im happy with my current driver you guys do a vid proving me wrong. Most of my numbers are better than this nice mans yet hes hitting further with better flight because of a better fitting. Dang it!!
So we've maybe never seen this, but this fit had a bit of a lesson built in. How does this impact a fit, (if he wanted a full bag) as Trevor will likely see some interesting swing changes over the next couple of months as he builds a new swing around this mini-lesson? Should he come back in a few months for the irons?
Very useful. I'm trying to imagine how many full driver swings Trevor took in this whole process, watching his club head speed drop as he naturally became fatigued! Good on him for exposing his swing and game for our benefit. NOTE: it's really important to mention that the customer ended up with a $1,000 driver between the Stealth head and the upcharge Ventus shaft. Would have been interesting to see the difference between that and a stock shaft option and see what he got for the extra 4 bills.
I can say from experience. Had a Iron/driver fitting at TXG in Toronto. 3 hours. I wanted new irons and was (and still are) thrilled with my Srixon Combo set. Driver fitting, however, was a surprise. While it is their job to sell, I was told my M2 head suited me well, but the dispersion was dramatically improved with a different shaft. So while I did spend on the shaft, I saved on the clubhead and my HCP has dropped by 4. Was lucky to have met Ian there that day too, super nice guy and down to earth!
The shot at 8:08 is a perfect example of Trackman indoors showing a toe strike as an open face and an exaggerated miss to the right. So annoying indoors! But great fit by Ian as always.
This will be my 4th season golfing. I had a quick lesson at the golf show in Mississauga about a month ago. I got some tips on takeaway, and I've been working on it hitting into my net. I'm JUST now starting to get the hang of feeling the changes I need to make, and am starting to get an idea of what's happening in my swing. It takes a LONG time, and an outside perspective to truely understand your own swing. You guys always give me something to consider in my own swing, and I'm excited that I'm at a spot now where I feel like I can actually implement swing changes 🙌
loved it, around my HC I'm much older, I purchased the TSR 3 with upgraded shaft ADI 5 haven't hit it yet ,I afraid I jump the gun on the 3 , my swing speed is in the lower 90s , I had Tietilist send me a return label but scratching my head like a bogey golfer!! lol big difference I may trade it in for the TSR 1 the video I saw with you guys few weeks ago , very impressive!! thanks again eye opener for me!! Nice job with the fitting!!
In a perfect world where a golfer can afford to change their driver this fitting analysis makes perfect sense. I believe their are many golfers that cannot afford to replace their driver but may want to simply try to maximize either the adjustability or maybe just the shaft to get some extra distance. Maybe walking a mid handicapper through these steps and options might be a good suggestion for your next video. Let’s get Trevor back with his Cobra driver and see what you can do with his old Cobra driver. I believe the Stealth 2 retails for $799.99, ouch!
Never stops amazing me how Ian is like a magician with fitting the driver to the golfer. I’m very sure that Stealth2 with a real (not stock) Ventus TR after market shaft is going to cost you at least $950-$1,050 from a Club Champion Fitting. Big difference in stock Ventus and Ventus TR. I am very sure that the stock shaft profile that the manufacturers test which shafts fit the average player 80-90 swing speeds. If you get a choice of 4 top brand shafts without an up charge you have a better chance of hitting it better than your driver you have if it’s 3-5 years or older. Places like PGA Superstore and others who giver you a real fitting won’t try and upsell you and usually discount the driver or get a new last years model that works for you.
Love your work gentlemen, so good watching the videos and seeing how much positive effect you can have on some ones game. If I had a hat on I would be tipping it in your direction Sir's
I found very similar in my fitting a couple of weeks ago. Stealth2 was very nice, but the Aerojet with HZRDUS silver gen 4 won for consistency. Slightly shorter than the stealth2 but much smaller dispersion. I highly recommend anyone to get fitted properly as shaft changes made huge differences too. Removes all the guessing and fingers being crossed 🤞🏻
Great to meet you boys at the NYC event. We talked a bit about fitting on different turfs and the spin you see. I noticed in this video at the NYC store there is a fiberbuilt mat. What do you see for numbers different than other Mats? I have the fiberbuilt in my sim and wondering if it’s more or less spin than others.
Really nice, i have 13 HCP and similar speed, can really relate. 250m drives are bombs for me, if i dont get help from wind or playing downhill. Its not much...but in fact the average member of our club does not crack 200m.

As great as the club fitting was, I reckon Trevor's investment would be better used on a few lessons to fine-tune that swing and introduce some consistency. Then any driver will get him into the right ballpark.
cool video, I'm a 14 hcp and use exactly the same irons as trev with a cobra F8 3 wood. i can't find a driver i get along with but had 1 hit with an original Steath that went dead straight 270 metres middle fairway 😮 wish i could afford one😂
That was on hell of session....not only was their some swing aid provided but also a very complex driver fitting process. Not sure how long this all took, but if it was me, I would table the driving head and shaft and come back a few days later and see if the numbers achieved could be replicated; after all that setup is going to cost some good capital.
Would love to see more shootouts with the stealth 2 vanilla, esp vs g430 max with Ian in the hitting bay. Tried the stealth 2 vanilla myself casually and was shocked how forgiving it was, straight as and with a great ball flight. Usually play a 65g S and the stock tensei red 50g S (j spec I think) was doing so well for me. Whippier just the kick landed perfectly at impact. I'm about a 105-110mph driver.
I really wish there was a place like yours to visit around here. I leave so much on the table but I have no idea if the issue is my driver is not really fitting me anymore or if my swing has gone to pot. All I know is my driver spin is 4000+ on a majority of my shots and the "good" ones are still in the 3000's. I'm put off by the massive jump in price of the new drivers since I bought my last one, so I don't even really want to bother going through a fitting only to find it's going to cost me 800+ for something.
You can see his arms are too across his body and his hips don't turn in the backswing when he hits them to the right. I blocked everything for a year until I figured that out. It's not clubs (though going to a midsize from jumbomax helped me with face control)
Great video! Very informative. Especially since I am pretty much exactly where Trevor is on club speed and ball speed. Curious as to why a regular flex shaft wasn’t tried. I was under the impression stiff shafts are for swing speeds over 100mph. 🤷♂️
Hi Guys, Great Vid. I just went for a fitting, more of like a experience for a new driver. How does this work. I was swinging it: My own gamer: Epic Flash @12,5 loft (to get more hight + spin) 96 mph Launch 11 Spin 1800 Smash 1.5 (over and over again) AoA: 5 deg up How do I get a nice spin rate? 2600-2800 RPM
Another degree of loft would put the spin and launch and dynamic loft right in the center of those optimized ranges, wouldn't it? Maybe just a little decrease in ball speed as the cost?
Trevor represents like 90% of amateur golfers with his swing tendencies. Honestly a bit surprised he was gaming the forged tec, because he almost certainly could benefit from some more GI irons. Especially because his mishit is to hit it thin.
Ian is the master and his triple threat, former teaching pro, master fitter, equipment expert comes through. Trevor is leaving a lot of speed on the table. He generates nearly all the power with hands and arms and lets his left arm fold across his chest, fooling him into thinking he's turning. If you look like Trevor when you swing, the best thing to do a get the Tour Striker Ball to learn how to turn, while keeping your arms in front of you. He was +5 AoA with 9 iron, which would be perfect for Driver. It makes sense that he liked the Ventus TR Red and Stealth 2. TR Red has a very high balance point, which helps him get dynamic loft. Stealth 2 is also lighter than the Ping Heads for sure. Ventus Black fits nearly nobody. Unless you're Gary Woodland or Scheffler and pull the handle down a ton with an insanely quick transition, DON'T do Ventus Black.
It looked like he had crept to close to the ball a few times to me. It wouldn't have mattered because he definitely got the best driver for him with all he tested!
Ball position on driver looked a little central maybe hence why theres a little early extension and miss to the right? although not to bad with the big stick
I wish all your club champion owned places around the world came to you for training because when I watch your video I didn't get that experience and to be honest I don't think I would get fit again
I could certainly use help in the irons arena. 😂 Arccos has me losing 3 shots on approach. Club Champion Louisville right before next year’s PGA Championship? 😉
Great job guys agree with one of the other comments. I have gotten fitted 3 times for driver and never was like what you guys do. I know you are just visiting NY. But If I went to Club Champion would I receive the same fitting you were showing today.

How do I get a nice spin rate? 2600-2800 RPM
Great video again on higher handicap fitting! Could you find it in your hearts to do this with the TSR1 fairway metals? Thanks
Another degree of loft would put the spin and launch and dynamic loft right in the center of those optimized ranges, wouldn't it? Maybe just a little decrease in ball speed as the cost?
Good times, bad times, you know I’ve had my share
Great series of videos. I play as low as 8 but typically around 11. Could certainly use the help to stay consistent. Would love the opportunity
This is what I need
I wish you had a facility out here in Arizona.
It looked like he had crept to close to the ball a few times to me. It wouldn't have mattered because he definitely got the best driver for him with all he tested!
Can you both come to Sarasota when I get fitted for a new driver this December? 😂😂.
Ball position on driver looked a little central maybe hence why theres a little early extension and miss to the right? although not to bad with the big stick
Do you ever do fittings in Orlando?
I wish all your club champion owned places around the world came to you for training because when I watch your video I didn't get that experience and to be honest I don't think I would get fit again
Do you guys believe in spine aligning shafts?
Great video...
I could certainly use help in the irons arena. 😂 Arccos has me losing 3 shots on approach. Club Champion Louisville right before next year’s PGA Championship? 😉
Any chance we getting a video updating us on MKBHD?
Great job guys agree with one of the other comments. I have gotten fitted 3 times for driver and never was like what you guys do. I know you are just visiting NY. But If I went to Club Champion would I receive the same fitting you were showing today.
Yes you would Kevin, you would get the same service and expertise.
That was one of the most violent goat humps I’ve seen!
Thats not a phrase we use in the UK. Interesting.
@@philipslighting8240 😂😂. On This side of the pond it is. I wish it wasn’t.
he needs a lesson ASAP, that’s gonna be a tough habit to break unfortunately and cause a whole lot of inconsistency no matter how great the fitting is
Is this the type of fitting that we could expect out of any of your fitters, or was this a little extra for UA-cam? This was exceptional imo 👍
