🌟Much more than a wood turning channel, Kim! We’re all family. You’ve educated, entertained and inspired us for years - unselfishly. We’re with you through all the ups and downs. You’ll be turning in your new shop sooner than you think. Pray you and your family remain safe and healthy. 🙏🏼

In the woodworking community we're all family. You really get to know someone by the videos and commentary. It doesn't matter if it's a woodturning video, a personal video, or even a video of mowing the lawn. Your fan base, your woodworking family, looks forward to watching videos of your progress.
God Bless you and your Family!

I started watching because I like to watch wood turning videos. I stayed because I like your style and your humbleness. I still stay because it is the way I can support you and your channel while you are waiting for your home to be built. Life has ups and downs and drama. We all go through it. Just roll with it and depend on God. That's all we can do! Have a blessed holiday season!

Hello Artista -good to hear from you again! The creative strain can't be suppressed for too long - see the Flexitable toy experiment... you've received the permissions for clearing the ground and to start constructing the 'dream house'. I reckon you're still blessed. I reckon your followers wish and/or pray that this will stay this way. Have a wonderful time - including the smaller tribulations and angers - and enjoy your new surrounding until at long last your new shop will jump into existence - so you don't have to share your life with us but your creativity. Isn't that a part of your life, too?

I understand how feel about coming onto your property and cutting something that you may have used. But until you get the property fenced in you will have problems. Some people don't care about fence lines, either, but at least you will know where they are coming on your place. Take a few metal fence posts, drive them in the ground in that area so people will know the next time. Directions, we're wood turners, we don't need any directions. LOL!😁 They just complicate things! 😂😂😂!!! Anyway, stay safe, be careful walking about your place, good place to get bit by a snake, or whatever! I don't see drama, I see a person like me, who's having a rough spot in life. We all have them, I will put your family on our prayer list.

Hi Kim! I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving! Just a quick tip....you might want to look up Florida Tree Laws. I am not a lawyer and I don't live in FL, but many States have laws that allow landowners to hold liable the illegal cutting down of trees by other people. As the neighbor admitted he hired the "crackheads" he could be held responsible for the value of all the tress they cut down PLUS the burl....and could also be 3x damages. Again, this depends on what the laws are in your area, but please consult with a Tree Law lawyer and find an arborist to evaluate the value of the trees.

Just out of curiosity…I’ve seen instances of harvesting burl while leaving the tree alone. Anyway, the chances are good that the tree will be just fine. Furthermore, I’ve see that the burls tend to grow back. Lastly, it’s not uncommon for nearby trees to grow burls too. I honestly don’t know if removing the damaged tree will stop the spread of burl or not. Just putting in my two cents. I’m sorry it happened to you. I’m also happy to see that you’re moving forward with a new house and things are improving for you and your family.

I wouldn't buy Laguna or Grizzly again. Based on MY experience. I still have my lathe in storage. :( Miss turning.
I am not sure if I can afford to change lathes once my shop is ready but eventually I would like to replace it with a Rikon or Powermatic.

i know that would make me. Mad . some body has stolen between 5000 - possible 20.000 dollars worth of the most beautiful foergion wood you ever see seasoned in the rough. i did think about if I found out who did it to take a shot gun shell a put black eyed pea’s, fine ground glass ,rock salt and get far enough away not to kill them but bury up in them real good. then about a year to get healed up and they think they got away with it , shoot them again to let them know there not forgotten but they wouldn’t know who did it . then I lest truth set in that it’s god’s fight and let him take care of it. and as long as i have iniquity in my heart god won’t hear my. prayers . so I repented of it and ask god to forgive and put me back in sweet communion with him in Jesus name. they don’t care how much I got upset and I was just hurting my self. so I just pray that god will touch there hearts that they might be saved before it’s to late. iam glad this young lady and her family are doing good. nana and papa from the foothills of the blue ridge mountains in North Carolina are wishing you well with all god’s blessings.

I know you guys are nice people, but when it comes to owning land you need to be hardcore. That guy cleared your trees, and a burl is gone. He’s not allowed to do that, so you need to sue if he’s not interested to even apologize. This guy said he got”Crackheads” to clear his property, and if so he’s and idiot. But I expect he knew everything that went on on his property. “Crackheads”, seriously, just the equipment alone could not be afforded or operated by people being on drugs.
Plus, he had to tell them where to cut. No one, or company, would hire anyone to clear land without giving that company plans and survey site drawings. Why would those crackheads clear land they weren’t being paid for. Doesn’t make sense.
If this is way he’s going to be, image him years from now. Nip it in the bud, or it will only cause you much grief in the future. Don’t let him walk over you. Which if you let him now, he will continue to do in the future. Trust me, I made that mistake. I suspect he’s a developer and he knows all the tricks, and knows that he can push people around and that it will be too much effort to fight him that most will just let it go. So push back now.
Spend an hour with a real estate lawyer. Go through what can happen worst case and how to respond to such when it happens. I wish I knew that. We had the same happen to us. We tried to be nice, but when it comes to land, that was the wrong thing to do.
Keep an eye on your survey, make sure no one moves the survey stakes and if he goes on your land get a lawyer to send a Cease and desist order. I’ve come to realize that fences make good neighbours. What I mean is that rules are there for a reason, so stick to them. You can be friends with your neighbour, but to stay friends keep to the rules.
I hope you got him to reimburse you for the burl and wood he took off you. He admitted that the people in his employ took it, so he needs to replace it or give you what it’s worth, and as you know burl is very expensive. The average crackhead doesn’t know that, but he would.

    • @brenturquhart7090
      @brenturquhart7090 2 роки тому

You are a wood turner. You use wood, so if he, or someone in his employ, took wood from you, it’s a big deal. A bigger deal than if you were not for sure. It becomes a criminal case, not a misdemeanour. You need to point that out. He’s stealing business property, not personal property. You will also need to remind the police if that as well.

I love the desk and would use it in my kitchen if I had the room. I went to their site, but even the small one would get it the way in tiny kitchen. I have a couple of ideas--one for a drop-down table attached to the end of my cabinets and one that is free-standing that would fold up like a rectangular card table. Alas, I have no tools to make it. :-( Just wanted you to know, even without your wood turning, you are still an inspiration!

The building process is both exciting and stressful. When we built our house in the woods, it seemed like something was going wrong, changing, or frustrating at every turn. There were times we weren't sure we were going to make it. Of course things eventually worked out, and we are so happy here. I'm sure you will have some of the same challenges, so stay strong and keep your eyes on the prize. No matter the subject matter, it is so good to see you progressing.

Happy thanksgiving to you and your family.
I had a 100+ year-old pecan tree that got struck by lightning removed and brought to my property in the country. My neighbor out there decided to use his skid steer to tear down my fence and put the majority of the wood on the side of the highway for FEMA to pick up with the rest of the hurricane debris. I am with you, it boggles my mind how stupid people can be. 😡
Have you ever turned sinker CCypress on your lathe?
Keep your head up and keep pushing forward.

Thanks for sharing your drama but can't wait until you get back to turning. I've always heard that cutting a burl off a tree doesn't hurt it? Sorry your burl got stolen it was a nice one. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS 🙏!

Kim, I’ll always watch your videos! I grew up in Tampa and was happy to see the palmettos on your property. If I was closer, I’d share some burls with you…I have bunches. One of my friends brought me a huge Cherry burl on Sunday…like 18 inches in diameter, glad you are making progress. Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m so sorry about the Burl napping! I love it that you are conservative enough to watch for the trees you take down! I’m not a woodworker, I’m an old Italian nana who loves to watch woodturning, especially when I can’t sleep. Passionate about creativity- you betcha! When I see how creative you are, I applaud you!
Best regards to you and your family in your new home! Stand firm and plant new roots! Bravo!

Still praying for you and your family. God's got this. There's a family on you tube the channel is The Arms Family Homestead. They are in Oklahoma. They got a couple miniature Herfords. You might want to contact them. They could give you some advice on mini cows.

oh I was! Still bent about it. Sucks this will be my neighbor. I will put up a fence 8ft tall , even if I have to mill the lumber myself... it will happen.

RV life is not for the weak. It takes a special type of person to live in an RV full time. You end up with extremely creative solutions to make it work and learn to do it yourself (too hard to take the RV in for repairs....not to mention how long it takes to get it back.....2-3 months, depending on the issue). We did this for 4 years. 2 cats, 1 exuberant border collie and luckily no kids, just me and my husband.
