Thank you Jim that was genuinely one of the most comprehensive, informative, knife reviews I've had the pleasure of watching.great advice for the newer and older collector of mid tech knives.atb paddy 😀 ☘️👍
Dude! Finally someone explained the secondary perfectly! I have never made money-just enjoy making connections. BUT you're not wrong-100$ is my max. After that I'm like hey ill do without before I vote to support the flippers. Great video!!
For me, a perfect pocketknife, no ifs ands or buts: it is the *first high-end knife I have ever been moved to carry and use regularly,* and I've been collecting for forty years. It actually reminds me of my Jeremy Robertson *el Patron* just better-ground, lighter, more comfy in pocket & hand, and much easier to get (believe it or not). The only thing I'd like to see is a somewhat smaller version...but *God it's good* --- the double detente, a clip that's secure in pocket but melts into the hand, *ingenious* finger choil, and the *attention to detail.* What a knife !
I went for a rosie at blade show on a whim, ended up getting the second to last one. It has become one of my favorite knives and really surprised me. I paid 750 table for it and was offered 1700 for it and turned down the offer I like it so much!
When I first saw this knife I immediately thought, "I have to have it!" The only reason being that Oz has been my nickname my entire life. Then I saw what they are actually selling for second hand... the novelty of a nickname isn't worth that to me.
I waited 2 or so years for a TRM Atom because I wouldn’t pay over retail for it. Gonna do the same with the Roosevelt. I would love one but not for over maker price.
I was able to get number 696 at Atlanta Blade Show this year. I paid $960 table price but mine has the Zircuti backspacer and clip. It is one of my favorite knives in my collection and don't see myself ever selling it even for double the price.
Radial is the config you commented that you like. I Learned a lot, Unfortunately I’ve been that guy that’s made moves in poor taste and have since changed my style. Great video with lots of insight.
I agree with your critique of the frame design. The offset pivot doesn’t bother me too much but to my eye, that rearward lean almost evokes a sense of misalignment.
I just picked up an Alliance Designs Kraken by Mathew Christiansen. And love it. Some how I got a lotto spot and got myself a Rosie this week. The Rosie is so far and away better I can’t even describe it. Absolutely worth every bit of the $750.
@@JimSkeltonKnives lmfao Jim that’s what people tell me , great knife great quality but I’m also more in to full custom cnc is great and all but theirs nothing like full handmade custom
Was finally able to score one from a friend that won a lotto at table price + shipping. Beyond excited to get it and try it out! Same model you did the review on. Curious to see if it will kick the McNees MAC 2 3.5” out of my pocket. If you haven’t done a review on one of them I recommend it, fantastic knife! Do you happen to know how these Roosevelts are sharpened by Daniel? Awesome review by the way! 👊🏻 🍻
I’m really glad that you ended up getting it from the scammer who had 1 million left to sell and just needed your entire family’s social security numbers and all incriminating info that you may have to offer lolllllll. In all seriousness, I’m glad that you got ahold of one !
I'm a machinist, I didn't know they were 100% cnc machined. That's insane. R&D on the tool path alone would take forever. If this is how he's making just this one model, I can't imagine what this guy will be making in 5 years.
One year later, production number is at # 3000 +. Lottery is still hard to win, secondary market seems to have dropped to $900 up to $1400, The new XL version seems to be the hot one right now $1700 to $2000 + .
Yep, secondary is much easier. I see many people selling at maker price in the Oz fb group. Except for the new xl because once again, people don’t learn to stop being impatient.
Jim thanks for the review, It reminds me of the Quiet Carry Drift did OZ machine copy there design? There is 3 things I see better designed on the Drift,The plunge grind look like it will create a smile when sharpened It’s not completely rust proof , and why didn’t OZ reverse the relief cut for the lock bar ? I’m sure it’s an amazing knife with common flaws and I’m not taking that away , it’s just the few things I can see from not even holding one
I lucked out and hit his lottery on his last one way back when you got to pick your options. My only gripe now, is that you have no pick in what you want other than entering or not into the lotto. I understand he can turn out more this way, but your chances of hitting out of 10 and 5k+ people if almost nonexistent.
Can we talk about how fire this synth wave intro track is ???? 🔥 🔥 🔥 Jim, which track is this !!!!!! Came here because I’m debating on finally pulling the trigger myself for a 🥀 🔪
He’s not wrong, eventually all prices come down…but I saw this same video 2 years ago. Worth at least mentioning that the fad staying lower of the Rosie is unparalleled.
I've owned 2 Rossies. Great little flippers.. but BARELY worth MSRP. Sure as hell not worth secondary pricing - the only ones that say it is, are owners who want to preserve their equity stake in their knives. Practically speaking, get yourself a Quiet Carry Drift for a similar form factor, and save yourself a thousand (or more) dollars.
One of the major reasons I've hesitated to pursue this knife (at maker price) is the lockbar location. It seems like the knife very readily drops the edge to your finger making it something you have to pay attention to. I wouldn't mind hearing your or anyone else's opinions and experiences with that specifically, is it ever a problem?
I’d bet about 75% of my collection is smooth and fast enough to do that, honestly. You just have to know which ones drop that freely and not hold the lock as long. You get used to it fast. That’s definitely not a reason to avoid this one though. Especially since it’s not a .220” thick blade that’ll come down like a guillotine on you lol. It’s a light blade so it doesn’t really do anything.
I have a few guillotines myself but the tang hits my finger and prevents an unwanted drop. The lock access looked low on this one, but if it's light enough not to cause a problem then all's good. Thanks for the reply, I may have to start the hunt.👍
Yeah but now you can get them on the secondary at significantly more reasonable prices. When I made this video, the secondary was stupid and as I predicted, it didn’t take too long for supply to push the market back into place.
I purchase 2 on the secondary. I planned on checking them out and keeping one. They are so great I can’t let go of either of them. I paid way to much but I’d do it again. I never plan on selling them.
I've handled a few rosie's and no offense to daniel but I just picked up a dustin turpin mini strife and it absolutely blows this little guy out of the water. If you want to talk about a knife to chase after chase after a turpin.. you know what I'm talking about. Great video as always jim👍
