Fishin' my local area and yup it's a very unique area and a great way to enjoy the sunny days! Grew up setting nets on Lake Huron at Thessalon Ontario just East of the Sault in Canada, me and grandpa out on the special mornings years gone by and wow I can never shake those memories of what I saw for fish them times!
I know it's a little late, but I purchased a hook for the power dam at Soo Welding. It cost about $40 bucks but it worked great. We were there mid September 2022 for a few days and caught 36 pinks,3 decent walleye. Capt Jay's solid pink, wonder bread, and pink/ chartreuse blade baits worked the best. We just hooked up at dam and jigged. We got the walleye trolling from the power dam to the first campground in about 15/20 feet. Most definitely do not anchor it will only be a matter of time you will get hooked up lose it.
When I was a kid, growing up in Sault Ste Marie Canada in the 1970;s, I would go to a little offshoot of the main river. It was about the width of a 2 lane street with several places where it was only ankle deep. I would stand there and wait until a big salmon would start wiggle over the rocks, half exposed out of the water. Then walk over and pick it up. Biggest I caught was 35 lbs.

Sticks his fingers through the gill and then releases the fish. Has this guy fished before? Does the guide know what he's doing?
