    Genius Nik and outstanding commitment from Anna. Great for a mass audience as this is the biggest group (3.0 level) of recreational players and trying to make this transition is very tough and here is where the coach is absolutely key. Many miss this stuff out and just want to fast forward to trying to play like pro's.... plus tennis players tend to be selfish and just want to play with better players and not giveback by nurturing less developed. I do give back (but maybe that's because i'm not that good a player) and it's great to see the development ... infact i pretty much end up losing when we play after a while ...maybe as my mindset is not in the mode to outright win.... which may be a reason why players don't like playing with lower levels.

    @knotwilg3596 3 роки тому +11

    It's not unusual for a highly coachable person like Anna to struggle with unpredictability. She takes a premeditated approach, which leads to good technique but poorer spatial judgment. Players who take a more sensory approach will react better to the conditions, but be slower in the adoption of proper technique.
    BTW - it's also interesting to see how the ground strokes, treated as to be taken for granted, are indeed taken for granted. So good8

    • @xabirocks6913
      @xabirocks6913 3 роки тому +1

      That's a great note, @knotwilg - I find myself vacillating between the two types. When I focus on my form, I lose my spatial ability and vice versa. Tennis is hard! But I'm working on it.
      Anna is doing fantastic job. Amazing ramp in learning.

    She's improved so much! But I can't help but think she seems to swing - mostly on the FH side, in slow motion. The fundamentals and mechanics are there, but she isn't 'swinging', she's just moving her arm through the correct path.

    • @JonahNelson7
      @JonahNelson7 3 роки тому

      Not every shot, but she'll learn those other shots that would end differently later. You want following through to be the absolute default because it helps with power, energy conservation, and spin, and then you learn other shots

    I love watching her progress but in all honesty..
    I don't know if it's just because I live in Europe or not but a NTRP of 3.0 is like an ITN of 7.. And she would never be near that if you let her play against Itn 7 players in terms of footwork, technique and game sense.
    Also after 2 years of her playing I don't think she made that big of a jump (no hate) like many say 🤭
    Either the level here in europe is just better or she isn't a 3.0
    Again if someone think's this is a personal attack (it's not!). Just an observation and my own opinion.

      She has been on this channel for about a year and I believe she was just starting. Exactly where did you come up with the 3.0 rating? When did Nick or anyone actually say anything about her rating? I think you are the person who is making that assessment which I think is not correct. I directed tennis programs for my local USTA community tennis association so I have some experience with levels of players. I would place her at the 2.0-2.5 and actually see how she does in match play which is different than hitting with a coach.
