Hello everyone... I am Horse Rider from Maharashtra... I have represented Maharashtra for 2 times at Delhi Parade on 26 th January 2016 & 2017.... The technique through which the Rider was approaching his jumps was very poor the horse is trained and the horse is doing his own jumps.... While jumping, the horse needs support and faith from the Rider.... Which can only given through riders heart and legs... Horses can read our heart they are very accurate to judge your confidence as well as that firm contact/hold through riders legs on the horse makes and boost the horse moral high and the horse jumps don't leave the seat to early unless the horse lifts his/her front legs... And just lean forward and give rein to the horse so that horse can stretch the body.... Or else he will get a jerk in jaw....That's all from my side... Jai Hind...☺️
Hi Manjeet. Good for you to give that advice which is all good but see to the fact that academy doesnt train one to be a rider or show jumper. For that matter the lane jump you saw is actually the last part of ETT training. The thing is its a leap of faith or say direct obidence of orders. The cadet knows he his not attained the level of skills but commits himself to It coz he has been told to do so.and mind you 99% of them have never even trotted on a horse. Anyways there are some exceptional show jumpers who put up a show every course in the tattoo show. Another thing all of them are just effing brave enough to attempt it.

That fall reminded me of my riding classes of APS. There was this one temperamental mare called "malti" who had a reputation for throwing off even seasoned riders.. Unfortunately I and my best friend were doubling up for that class as every primary kids were instructed. And one jawan would hold the reins while walking the horse around the paddock in a circuit. Before I know it.. that mare was standing on her two feet and my grip slipped from the saddle. And us two friends were dumped on the ground.. luckily the soldier was quick to drag her away from us. It took me a whole month to gather courage to ride the next horse. This one was a handsome brown tallest strapping horse who was a known gentle giant. I choose him every time for my riding classes. Until the classes were finally stopped. I really miss those days..
Thank you Navriti for sharing this memory with us. Many of NDA pass outs have told me that this video I created almost 15 yrs back is the most authentic description of NDA and copies of these 2 episodes are sold even today at the circular canteen near the exit gate. I dont know if it is still true. But the fact that a video created reminds you of your training days brings great satisfaction to me personally.. Thanks for writing in. Wish you the best!

Officer , after this 3 yr course they have to join another academy for 2 yr (IMA,NA,AFCAT) then they will join their respective branch
