Great video thanks for posting it. I have been to many off the beaten track markets in Thailand. The only thing I would question is the quality of the products. Some of it will be good quality, but a lot of it is just cheap Chinese made goods so buyer beware! Also, if you are buying clothing make sure you buy 2 sizes bigger than you normally would. A large Thai t-shirt will fit ok but after you wash it, it becomes a medium. Too small.
We are heading over next month, for a walk about. Are there any markets that have western style outdoor clothing, on the discount? like in Vietnam. Cheers.

I see that Chiang Mai is north of Bangkok. How do I get there, how long will it take, and most importantly how much will it cost? I really want to buy some silk shirts in XXL. Do you know where I can find them cheep. Lastly do you have any advice for a low cost place to stay for a few days? Im thinking Bangkok. Thanks in advance.
Awesome vid! Me and my girlfriend were pretty disappointed with the night markets in CM (Sat,Sun and Bazar) selling almost generally tourist souvenirs like wood carved ornaments and Chiang Mai memorabilia. Looking forward to going here sometime this week! Thanks!

I am in Chiang Mai, yes. It's a cool market, however, I have trouble finding things that'll fit me lately. Are you talking about the Sunday night market in the old city? If you are, not very good. Packed with tourists, you literally have trouble walking. The regular night market is good on the east side of the city. CM uni has 10,000 staff ranging from the Dean to street sweepers. There are 30,000 students so a big ingenious local population for business. The street that runs parallel on the other side of the uni is Suthep Rd and has a few shops but used to have a massive food night market, there to feed the very large number of students who live local. As a large guy I find it better to have my clothes Taylor made, very cheap. I can occasionally find items made for export at very cheap prices sold in any number of Thai street markets, just takes a bit of looking and ask for Big big big, or Yai yai yai. If the have then Thai traders will find or helpfully point you to a stall where they know stocks such items. A polite Wai and above all a big smile works wonders in dealing with Thai citizens. John

Great Blogs Brett ,i read everyday ,bout Thailand ,im planning on movin to thai in under 3years wen i retie ,allways wanted to go Chang mai , ive bein to bkk 31times in 10 years but im either with best mate in bkk or girlfriend in nakon ratchesma ,ive bein to most ialands too,i rekon i will make a trip to chaing mai on my own

You'd need to speak to a lawyer and I'd say it'd be next to impossible unless you open the business in the name of a Thai partner. Thais don't allow foreigners to fully own businesses and some businesses similar to what your talking about are completely off limits.
