Just asking . . . . the Seventh Day Adventist are absolutely certain their doctrine of 'soul sleep' is correct. Their leading evangelist John Bradshaw has at least one UA-cam video where he refutes the rich man in hell and Lazarus in heaven which I thought was a very strong argument that after you die, you, in some form, are alive in one or the other with the ability to remember, to suffer (as the rich man was). At this point, I am hoping this is not a saved/lost doctrine and that I will simply find out which doctrine is correct in a few more years . . . (I am 66 this year). Thank you. Thanks for writing, Dave! I agree with you wholeheartedly! It is pretty clear that there is no soul sleep. The rich man and Lazarus is a powerful story that indicates that. So is the story of the penitent thief as well as Jesus words in John chapter 11 about us never dying….and on and on and on. I’m quite confident that when we die, our soul is with Jesus, and we will be in a conscious state. But I believe we will surely recognize that our bodies are not with us. When the resurrection comes, we will also have our bodies, and what a day that will be!
