Hi Charlie. The irony is that when you point out Ray's bias, you're being hypocritical - no one is without bias. I'd be naive not to know that, and to think that you are right when you're only trying to mislead me into thinking you and these atheists have an objective viewpoint. We all have presuppositions - when atheist people say they don't, it's a flat out lie. Atheists believe something came from nothing, that is a fantastic *belief* that I cannot buy into, and I actually don't believe that anyone truly believes it, but are suppressing the truth for an agenda. Everyone interprets the world through their own lens. It's the same with the dating of events in Scripture - scholars against the God of Scripture (with a grudge) purposefully come up with timelines that would make the events of scripture not fit them, because they don't want them to. Or they'll say that because Isaiah changes the tone in his book, that he becomes a different person - Isaiah 1, Isaiah 2, Isaiah 3... just to discredit his authorship, because if it's the same Isaiah in all the sections they chop up, then that has implications what they seek to disprove. They claim there are "multiple Isaiahs" because his tone (mood) changes, when everyone does that, and there are other obvious indications that link his own style/diction as being uniform - really, the arguments against one Isaiah being the author are so poor that they reek of someone trying too hard (insecurity). But the reason these scholars opposed to the Scriptures do this is that Isaiah contains prophecy wherein a man is actually named and it's foretold he would be born, become king & bring the Jews out of captivity from Babylon - Cyrus. There's always an intent, always a lens through which every person sees the world, and none of their acts are without presupposition. I actually distrust even more the person who claims he/she can turn them off, and enter a vacuum away from the influence of his/her*self*. Anyway my friend, I'll probably drop the ball after this (though I might be tempted to come back), only because I've poured so much into this whole debate throughout my life and it gets very time consuming, but I love you even if I don't know you, and I just wish the best for you. Why do so many supposed atheist watch these videos? Could it be that they are at war with themselves? Maybe they can't quite squelch some little spark of belief within themselves and that's why they feel the need to lash out here. I wonder if every person they came into contact with validated their argument would the spark go out then? If they truly do not believe why do they invest their precious time into the argument?
those who aren't on Ray's side have u ever tried to think from a Christian POV, (what if the things we say is the truth) like in the video, won't it make sense to have a creator of the universe (if u aren't following, name me one non-living physical thing that does not have a creator.) I exist coz of my mother and father and so do u, and they exist coz of their parents and so on and on and on. Now if we were to go all the way back following this pattern we'll eventually end up rounding it back to that first couple, a female and male, that began the cycle, and when we think about this it make sense to say that everything that is made/is of creation, has a beginning (and would therefore have a creator). and if ur still not with me, no matter how far u go back that line of generations u will find it will always have to have a beginning otherwise it just makes no sense as to how it started in the first place. U see my opinion is how is it possible, and how can people believe and say that something has an exact repeating cycle but once reaching the start of that cycle say that actually, no, it continues to keep going back but now at this point that same cycle has now regressed (which is the opposite to evolved) and actually the cycle has regressed and changed into a different structure, now of a particular animal (that keep in mind has very very close relatives ( and one could say the exact same relative that exist till to this day), and for some reason these close relatives that are still animals, just somehow have not evolved, themselves, (in the time period that we (humans) have been alive), and yet, though our "ancestors" were able to evolve into human beings, and again other animal species haven't evolved into humans or another living creature. if u still aren't with me, then tell me this, does anything just appear out of nowhere, does the sun just rise above the horizon every day, appearing out of nowhere or is it because of the earth's rotation around the sun? does rain just fall from the sky or is it because after falling from the sky later on the temp rises enough, it reaches a point were liquid water turns into water vapour, evaporating back into the sky and condensing into a cloud until it falls again. which proves my point again nothing just appears out of nowhere. and to be honest when I hear people say that what Christians believe (to put nicely) is stupid, I want to crack up laughing but cry at the same time because what I'm hearing is that pple rather believe there is no creator, there is no God (even though u well darn know that nothing just appears) and prefer to believe different theories that are quite unable to be proven (like I understand what a theory is but if ur gonna believe in something then u should be able to put ur life on the line for it, as that's what ur claiming as to be the truth) but continuing on what I was saying, believe theories that r quite unable to be proven and also being made up/to put nicely, thought of, by humans. Your decision on earth will determine where you spend eternity - not one second after you take your last breath. Death bed conversion experiences are valid and miraculous. Yet, several things to consider. 1. It may not happen, 2. You miss out on the abundant life Jesus promises, 3. You miss out on influencing the people you love for Jesus during your lifetime. 4. So, the whole reason Ray believes in Christianity, is because he's got death anxiety. Fine. I can't cure that anxiety. But what about all the people who are going to Hell on this doctrine? Isn't it rather selfish to choose to believe in a doctrine of one's own salvation that condemns the majority of the human population to eternal torture?
It's kind of misleading to say that people are "going to Hell on this doctrine". The doctrine itself is not sending anyone to hell Pomme843. The doctrine is either true or it isn't true. If it is true, and people choose NOT to believe it, then that isn't on the doctrine. That's a personal choice. If it's not true, then nobody goes to Hell (at least based on this doctrine in particular). I guess then, that the onus would be on each of us to discover what is truth.

The evidence in my case is much stronger that Christianity is true. It's borne out in the evidence of my life. I can no more prove to you that God exists than you can prove to me that He doesn't. We believe because we know this world is broken and that we unfortunately have added to the brokenness of it. For this we are guilty and would be sentenced for it...but then along comes Jesus, who proved His love by taking our sentence so that we can be declared innocent (even though we are not) and brought into the family of God. There is NO other religion or worldview that declares such a beautiful and unique story. God loves us. Believe this and live; deny it and continue to declare your own goodness (or even your own okay-ness) and you will die in your sins. They claim there are "multiple Isaiahs" because his tone (mood) changes, when everyone does that, and there are other obvious indications that link his own style/diction as being uniform - really, the arguments against one Isaiah being the author are so poor that they reek of someone trying too hard (insecurity). But the reason these scholars opposed to the Scriptures do this is that Isaiah contains prophecy wherein a man is actually named and it's foretold he would be born, become king & bring the Jews out of captivity from Babylon - Cyrus. There's always an intent, always a lens through which every person sees the world, and none of their acts are without presupposition. I actually distrust even more the person who claims he/she can turn them off, and enter a vacuum away from the influence of his/her*self*. Anyway my friend, I'll probably drop the ball after this (though I might be tempted to come back), only because I've poured so much into this whole debate throughout my life and it gets very time consuming, but I love you even if I don't know you, and I just wish the best for you. those who aren't on Ray's side have u ever tried to think from a Christian POV, (what if the things we say is the truth) like in the video, won't it make sense to have a creator of the universe (if u aren't following, name me one non-living physical thing that does not have a creator.) I exist coz of my mother and father and so do u, and they exist coz of their parents and so on and on and on. Now if we were to go all the way back following this pattern we'll eventually end up rounding it back to that first couple, a female and male, that began the cycle, and when we think about this it make sense to say that everything that is made/is of creation, has a beginning (and would therefore have a creator). and if ur still not with me, no matter how far u go back that line of generations u will find it will always have to have a beginning otherwise it just makes no sense as to how it started in the first place.
U see my opinion is how is it possible, and how can people believe and say that something has an exact repeating cycle but once reaching the start of that cycle say that actually, no, it continues to keep going back but now at this point that same cycle has now regressed (which is the opposite to evolved) and actually the cycle has regressed and changed into a different structure, now of a particular animal (that keep in mind has very very close relatives ( and one could say the exact same relative that exist till to this day), and for some reason these close relatives that are still animals, just somehow have not evolved, themselves, (in the time period that we (humans) have been alive), and yet, though our "ancestors" were able to evolve into human beings, and again other animal species haven't evolved into humans or another living creature.

It's kind of misleading to say that people are "going to Hell on this doctrine". The doctrine itself is not sending anyone to hell Pomme843. The doctrine is either true or it isn't true. If it is true, and people choose NOT to believe it, then that isn't on the doctrine. That's a personal choice. If it's not true, then nobody goes to Hell (at least based on this doctrine in particular). I guess then, that the onus would be on each of us to discover what is truth.

1. Before you argue against Christianity, do you understand it and can you satisfactorily explain the viewpoint in a way that Christians would agree you have the correct view? This is something any good debater must do, correctly state the opposing viewpoint.

Quick question. If one is a believer and he/she is the best christian in the world and one day their loved one dies, how can they have the selfish gall to be sad and say their world is meaningless now? If heaven exists and that person believes he/she will be reunited with their loved one soon in the future then, why the hell aren't they happy for them the moment they pass to the next life? They didn't suffer but, if they did suffer, then their suffering is over and they are doing a jig in heaven. Probably having a nice cup of tea with an old boyfriend or something. We should be very happy for them. If heaven is the greatest place to be, why are so many christians afraid to go? Do you want to know why? It's because none of you believe the crap you are spewing on others while you pretend to be holier-than-thou. You claim to be faithful but don't behave as one who is faithful. I don't get it. Pick a side and live your life accordingly. Don't claim all the good news and then be sad for someone who dies. Don't be selfish and claim that you will be missing them and heart-broken. We believe because we know this world is broken and that we unfortunately have added to the brokenness of it. For this we are guilty and would be sentenced for it...but then along comes Jesus, who proved His love by taking our sentence so that we can be declared innocent (even though we are not) and brought into the family of God. As for Science disproving the need for God, nothing can be farther from true. Science has yet to prove that 'the Big 3" as I call them could have happened by random natural causes:
1) The existence of everything (all matter, energy, time, and space itself) from nothing.
2) The genesis of life from non-living matter.
3) The complexity and diversity of life we see from the (relative) simplicity of the first proto-life form.
