Gone too soon? serious? he made it to 77, smoked up to 5 packs a day.

He was lucky to live as long as he did the way he smoked, most people don't make 70 smoking that much think he had a three pack a day habit

I am startled at how gentle and soft spoken he is. I had always thought he was harder edged and peevish - a result I realize now , of written interviews where the writer insinuated a choleric temper. So charming too. There is an innate goodness to the man.

He was not treated very well by the media and the radio stations very well in general.

He gave Waylon Jennings a really nice advertisement... I thought that was classy because he probably didn't have to and it probably wasn't scripted... he just did it...

The irony of this interview is not only did he get married, he married Miss Lena on that very program, Elwood Glover's Luncheon Date. It was the Canadian version of Tiny Tim and attracted 2 million viewers.

"Elwood Glover's Luncheon Date" As I recall, Stompin' Tom got married on that very show a few years later. Folks likened it to Tiny Tim getting married on U.S tv....Not even close in my opinion. Cheers Tom!

This must've been about 71 or so judging from the style of the presenter's suit. Also Conners wasn't married until 1973.
