      Sorry dude.... but trail does not cover the regulation. You people really do not understand what the law functioning. Simply the trail is not the public road. In some case is true, but often trail is managed by the park management offices or organization. It means, they restrict separately.
      So, now I have to ask a serious question, why do you guys try to regulate E bike, because of issue in the trail? There is no reason to do that. If the restriction is really necessary, you would go to the department or office which manage your trail road, and make the rule on their. BUT, you don't have any right to regulate the E bike because of the trail issues. It MUST be reject on the issues.
      I'm really sick and tired to see the EMTB vs MTB situations, but do not bring that issue to the street or the other road regulation or situation.

    The pandemic killed all three of my jobs and I have been a cyclist most of my life, so I bought an Ebike and sold my cars.
    Fast forward to today . I have a new job 3 miles from home and have been Ebiking to work regardless of the Michigan weather.
    The 55mph road here in my town,have bike lanes and my Ebike does 36mph, so I can keep up with city traffic.
    I am absolutely amazed at the old guys that rage on me.
    I experience vehicular intimidation on occasion and wish to understand why.

      Now who's throwing the insults. I'm an old guy who has dealt with the motorist intimidation and lack of knowledge of the law my whole. I was hit head on by a car and was almost killed so enough of your nonsense. It's got a motor it's a motorized vehicle the need to be regulated and licensed to keep the roads just a little more sane. And an e-bike shoudn't share the bike lanes, it's not safe or fair to the people pushing pedals. SORRY that's just dangerous. 36mph would wipe me out if I was hit. You need to get real and stop being selfish to the people who have established these bike lanes and laws for pedallers not thumb throttle vehicles. Seriously? ....

I’m sorry to hear you were hit straight on by a car and almost died sounds very scary. Of course riding an eBike on a bike path at 36 mph and that is why eBike riders need to respect the speeds of 15-20 mph on bike paths. I’ve been passed plenty of times by regular bikers on bike path going over 25 mph and I’ve never seen an irresponsible eBike rider on my bike paths. Other than that it’s the cars that are always causing problems to cyclists and pedestrians, go fight elsewhere where the real problem lies…

There was no science gathered to come to you conclusion. You felt attacked and that's probably something that happened to you in the past and had nothing to do with what I said. Doctors would call this projection. E-bikes are not bikes, by definition they are motorcycles (cycle with a motor attached to propel) and don't belong in the same space a bicycles. Could you at least make your argument sensible and based on reality. Thanks.

      There should be room for both regular bikes and ebikes, both can be respectful or irresponsible. I’ve ridden both and have seen bad riders on both. The reality is that ebikes have become very popular and help with mobility for many seniors as well as a mode of transportation taking the place of cars. So, hopefully regular bike riders and ebike riders can appreciate each other. My worry, is the crazy motorcycle riders who weave in and out of traffic. An accident waiting to happen.

  • @Macbob-j6f
    @Macbob-j6f 7 місяців тому +2

    I finished reading an article that say proposed is the US adopt European ebike laws which limit ebike speeds to 15.5 mph and small wattage motors. Besides some crazy ebike riders, maybe part of the problem are newer ebikes with big
    motors to go 30, 40 or more mph, far exceeding class 3 and 750 watt limits. Hopefully we will not end up with laws requiring registering ebikes as mopeds or motorcycles needing special licenses, insurance, and safety inspections..

    Yep by me in NJ they are trying to pass a law right now that you need to register your e-bikes and have to have liability insurance for each one also! if they do that your better off just using your car to go out on short trips that you would usually use your bike to go on... It's all about getting extra $ I can ride my normal bike and go down hills just as fast as with my e-bike so we should have the same for normal bikes too then... it's crazy, it's the people in the cars that are hitting us bikers I never almost hit anything with my bikes since I was a kid it always was I almost got hit by some driver not paying attention or now on there cell phone and almost nail you! Just another set of dumb laws that are going to make many no longer get e-bikes or scooters or skateboards that are battery powered because this law I am speaking of is for not only bikes but all the battery powered stuff!

      I was hit head on by a car so I know the danger exists but I've seen e-bikes in many situations going faster and doing dangerous things up and down hills and in ways non-motorized bikes could never do. A bike without a motor is a bicycle and bike with and electric motor is a motor bike, purely by definition but also by capability. They need lights and helmets. To your point anything with a motor and is not human powered should have rules and laws to protect the communities that they operate in and people who do dumb things on e-bikes should get tickets. I think road cyclists who don't obey traffic laws should also be ticketed and face possible charges if they do something that endangers other people. Don't get me started on the phone use and distracted drivers. Again the phone companies could end that up with a simple software upgrade if they really wanted to....

    That’s a shared path you turned onto at the 3:17 mark of the video, am I correct? I see a sign a bit later that indicates bikes are allowed. We wouldn’t call that a sidewalk up here. Area #13 has a Dyno that he tests the watts and torque of all the e-bikes he reviews. It looks similar to the Dutch portable unit I’ve saw. I don’t have a problem with children under 12 not being allowed to ride powerful e-bikes. The fatality in Key Biscayne between the 12 year old e-bike and the 66 year old woman on an acoustic bicycle isn’t going to help anyone. Up here the law is already that you must be 16 to ride an e-bike. Also any e-bike over 500 watts is only legal on private land. Happy riding

    I live in CA & the law would be unconstitutional & unenforceable. Class 1 & 2 Ebikes are legally bicycles & not motor vehicles as defined in Federal Law. Class 3 is in the gray zone a bit going 28mph. The Dyno test would require a court order to violate the 4th Amendment on illegal searches & seizures of personal property.

      Really... See the comments above. E-bikes weigh more and can go faster making them more dangerous. It's science E = m c2... It works and a heavy bike traveling a 25 mph- (class 2) will do far more damage than my 16 pound bike... Do the math, read the science and open your eyes to how the e-bikes are being ridden. I believe you have to protect the community, that's not stripping people of any rights, but I can see where you're going right the the constitution which is a document intentionally left up to interpretation so I think the greater good should be the standard.

      My 2 cents is that over 20 mph or 30 kph, it should be classified as a motorized vehicle (moped/scooter). 30 kph being the max sprinting speed of a human, it's the closest thing to a natural speed limit we have.

    It’s not really about cost when it comes to e-bikes versus regular cycle running costs, it’s about the speeds they can achieve and the energy involved. The energy gets exponentially bigger as these heavier bikes go faster and faster. Should motorcycles not require insurance or registration just because they are cheap transport? No, it should just be reasonable and in line with the actual dangers and real costs.

    My ebike is my sole mode of transportation 9 months a year, and i just ordered a pull trailer for it. This will never happen in my small town in N Arizona. Any ebike is considered a bicycle. I dont like California numerous ridiculous laws.

      @electrifiedlatina6871 I haven't been to California in over 20 years. I only know what I hear about it, or videos. I doubt there's 15 ebikes in this whole town. We have one bike shop here, Magnums and very high-end trek electric bikes. Out of 5 magnums they've had for 2 years, 2 were on layaway. Even though I'm over 65, I will own a Surron someday. Ride safe.

      Here where I live in Michigan, we have very few bike lanes. I actually feel safer driving on the sidewalks. It is legal in my city. I have a bell on my E-
      Bikes so I don't give someone a heart attack when I approach them from behind. There is too much "distracted driving" in the roads and worry about getting hit by someone that does not see me. I am a very considerate driver on the sidewalks and I have not had any problems with people on the side walk that are walking. The police see me everyday and do NOT bother me at all.

    So these "laws" I more like to call it brain's, and yeah the speed trap is wrong, but hay the e-riders I do not blame them at all ! I blame like you said the ones that abuse what's fun ? Uh I guess ? Oh I think the people have the right to know the laws of those laws ? Basically that's what that is and to second that law in court. Ask what's the benefit of those laws and just say nope F, off with those and that's that. But because it is like ha ha ha ha ha ha uh yes these laws stay this is Ahmarkah we don't care what you have to say. Hahahahahahahaha and that's so very true to ?

    Pay your fair share... You benefit from the roads and need to share the insurance burden with the rest of us. Stop with the recreation crap. Get a pedal bike without a motor. That's exercise that's recreation. I ride a bike on the roads without keeping up and have for 30 years. Two wrongs don't make it right. The phone companies could easily stop the texting and videos in cars, that's what we need. License plates and a riders test should be required. That way people can learn the laws and prove their ability. It's not a bicycle, it's a motorized vehicle and should be treated as such. This comes from someone who has been riding for 50 years... You are a whinny and lazy... We have an obesity issue in the US. Motorized bikes take the exercise out of the best way to move. It's sad...

      What’s sad is your attitude and insults! Violating UA-cam’s community guidelines and my channel’s! You have no idea who I am or why my viewers choose to ride e-bikes! I was a triathlete training for the Olympics until I got a life threatening chronic illness and that’s how I found e-bikes! E-bikes have nothing to do with obesity! It gets people outside who otherwise would be stuck at home with illness’s elderly or injuries, of course there’s recreation too. We benefit from unsafe roads- if we pay we need increased and way better infrastructure for cyclists and e-bikes. You are so ignorant when it comes to e-bikes and have no business in an eBike channel. Buh bye!

    • @danielcapson9842
      @danielcapson9842 10 місяців тому

      @@electrifiedlatina6871 They give lazy Americans another reason not to move. I'm sorry about your chronic illness, but most e-bike riders are just lazy kids who don't want to work or put their bodies in motion. are e-bikes the cause of obesity, no not on their own, but the don't contribute to peoples physical activity which is the problem I have. For people with injuries or illnesses they work but even elderly people can ride bikes that don't have motors and they can benefit from the non-weight-bearing exercise in so many ways. Again, Americans need to move more without the aid of a motor and all the social demographics evidence prove this. There are no insults, lazy is lazy and that's a fact not an insult. If you can take the the constructive criticism of your point of view maybe you should get off of UA-cam. I've been riding a long time so I also know about poor infrastructure. But if other motorized vehicles require registration, licensing and insurance than that's the choice you make as part of the communities. E-bikes make the roads more dangerous speeds and the fact that people don't have to test to prove competency on the roads.
