  • The big swede gets dirty in the old hog manure tanker trailer, power washing it out.
Chet puts brake chamber on the terragator.
Chet also torches the old pipes out of the tanker trailer.
after the tanker trailer is converted, the whole crew works together on placing it in its new home.

Please don't let anyone ever go into a confined space without checking the oxygen level, especially a tank used for transporting hog manure, which is rich with methane gas. To top of all that, you used a torch to cut metal inside the tank where toxic gases are abundant. I have 1st hand knowledge of some horror stories. Please be safe!

We have a pit in our shop it's very handy. In michigan we have to have a exit from the pit to the outside of the shop in case of fire. We also have to cary special insurance on the pit . We were required to have a ventilation system because welding and torching gases like acetylene gather in the lowest point of a building if there was a leak . Pits are useful but are an insurance liability. We also have 2 hoists for cars and light pick up trucks . We do mechanic work and fabrication on the side during the winter on cars trucks and heavy equipment. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !

That nut and bolt that you removed is called caging bolt. S lot towing companies has to use them if a big rig can't supply air for it's brakes. The brake cage bolt releases the brakes so the vehicle can be moved. Love video's keep up the good work and god bless and stay safe.

I would suggest using a 3” banjo screen with like a 250 mesh when unloading that thing for the first few loads. To keep any remaining stuff out of your sprayers.

Old rusty containers are some of the worst confined space to enter, oxidation uses oxygen in the tank. Have plenty of air purging and a fan blowing air. Obvious really, great videos keep up the good work

The little 4 inch long hole in the side of the brake chamber housing is where you can store that cage bolt that compressed the spring after it’s removed out of the cage so if you need it in the future to pull the equipment somewhere you can re cage the chamber and move it. 👍

Just a tip, landing gears on semi trailers are normally rated at 50,000#. But I think you had the right idea with cribbing under the king pin plate. Never hurts to cya. One idea to save wear and tear on your well pump is to use rain water. If any of your sheds have gutters, hooking onto them and diverting water to the tanks would get more than you need very quickly. One inch of rain gives you just under 3quarts per square foot of roof area. A couple spring rains and they would be full. I did that off my shop roof, a couple years ago I had 10,000 gallons from 3 rains. The only issue is leaves in the gutters, but if you dont have trees nearby, it isn't an issue. If you did have leaves, a filter can be made from a 5 gallon plastic bucket and cheap 5 gallon paint strainers. They worked great for my rainwater setup. Just some ideas, good luck. The best part of it was it is all gravity, no electricity required to fill the tanks.

Hello friend, on the back/rear of a brake pot there is a bolt called a caging bolt that is to keep the emergency spring side compressed. When I measure my push rods after old pot uninstalled I will apply air to the service side with a airline with a shutoff valve/handle to both the old and new pot, that pushes the push rod out to it's max length so you get a bang on measurement. Also you had it right at first after installing the brake pot and installed your pins and air lines, remove the caging bolt make sure you release your park brake after chocking the wheels. Then do a brake adjustment, going all the way tight with the slack adjuster then backing off half a turn, will give you 1 ½" stoke. Cheers! Keep up the good vids! And hard work!

So I will add to the chorus of voices about the tank entry. I have done this professionally onboard oil tankers and its 100% SERIOUS BUSINESS! While you may not have access to all of the gas/oxygen meters we do offshore there is 1 thing you can do to help prevent a serious FATAL accident... ventilate, ventilate, and then ventilate some more. You should do this ANY time you enter a confined space such as a grain bin, tanker, cistern, and such. Don't be shy about it, the more and longer the better! There are lots of things like rust, decomposing manure that consume oxygen, if you or someone working for you enters a space with insufficient oxygen they WILL collapse and start to DIE, and if you try to save them without a source of oxygen YOU WILL DIE TOO! These scenarios are all too common in many industries, do some reading, talk to your workers and make sure you aren't sending someone into a deadly space. If you want help shoot me a message and I will point you in the right direction.

I think you should look at some of the OSHA requirements for confined space entry. I grew up on a farm, and I know you have to do what it takes to get the job done. I’m not trying to be a safety nazi, but you don’t want someone to get hurt or worse while inside the tank. Think about how you would get someone out of the tank if they were to pass out for some reason. I would consider having a rescue rope and dedicated attendant at the hatch. I would also consider using an O2 sensor to monitor the air inside the tank if you’re using the cutting torch.

You may say it’s been cleaned - by your own admission that man went in to do more cleaning. Even clean tanks must be treated as a high risk entry. Also have someone watching that man trained in the use of a rescue device. Y’all are really rolling the dice here. Air brakes are easy if you pay attention
Lots of companies make brake pots some even put other people’s names on them
    Don’t pay for the name
    Buy the correct size
Cut the plunger to the correct length
Screw on your clevis hook up your air lines
Important chalk your wheels so your machine will not roll very important
    Step
Now release the air park brake
Now remove the spring tool form the back of the the pot
Their is a sleeve on the side of the break pot to store that tool for future use
    Store it
Now check how much travel you have
    Speck is 3/4” to 1 1/2”
    Adjust your slack adjusters
So that when you push the brake pedal you have no more than 1.5 inches
And you are good to go

A farm equipment tour would be cool if you ever get the spare time to do one

yes. that Caging Bolt does let you take that chamber apart. But, for safety, they have made that a sealed chamber, due to many accidents. That is your Park Brake part of the braking system. The spring that is housed within, is loaded with 27,000 PSI. Never attempt to disassemble it.

Love the oil change pit you have, great for that and repairs underneath equipment. Do you have retractable grates or does it stay open all the time?

With all the roofline you have maybe use a rainwater capture system for filling the tank. That or a tile water capture system.

Do you bring the sprayers back to the yard to fill them? That trailer in the field would get a lot of spraying done

I just full of comments today i cannot understand this so gotta ask. Why do huge farms do that fill them huge water tanks with a garden hose. Why they do not go to a field where is a sizable big water body that does not dry up. And drill a huge hole like a pile drill makes and put in a perferated culvert with a pump to fill the tanks. Could use a way bigger pump ect.

Being just a water tanker and the tank isn’t jacketed... why not add a decent sized manhole and a vent on each end for circulating air through when you need to clean that tank again.
