Chet you’re giving Zach Johnson a run for his money with the content man! Keep up the good work, I tell anybody who will listen to check you guys out! Informative, entertaining, and great situational comedy as well. Well done sir!
We have a pit in our shop it's very handy. In michigan we have to have a exit from the pit to the outside of the shop in case of fire. We also have to cary special insurance on the pit . We were required to have a ventilation system because welding and torching gases like acetylene gather in the lowest point of a building if there was a leak . Pits are useful but are an insurance liability. We also have 2 hoists for cars and light pick up trucks . We do mechanic work and fabrication on the side during the winter on cars trucks and heavy equipment. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !
That nut and bolt that you removed is called caging bolt. S lot towing companies has to use them if a big rig can't supply air for it's brakes. The brake cage bolt releases the brakes so the vehicle can be moved. Love video's keep up the good work and god bless and stay safe.
The little 4 inch long hole in the side of the brake chamber housing is where you can store that cage bolt that compressed the spring after it’s removed out of the cage so if you need it in the future to pull the equipment somewhere you can re cage the chamber and move it. 👍
I watched this yesterday. I was doin things while watching, been wanting to get back and leave ya all a comment. Chet....great northern accent, I have noted this accent before, and always refreshing. The farm shop pit is super. Lighted up really good also. I used to and sometimes still do work on 3/4 ton and one ton trucks, even though I am much toooo old to still be doing this, if I don't …. it don't get done. keep up the good work.
I would suggest using a 3” banjo screen with like a 250 mesh when unloading that thing for the first few loads. To keep any remaining stuff out of your sprayers.
Please don't let anyone ever go into a confined space without checking the oxygen level, especially a tank used for transporting hog manure, which is rich with methane gas. To top of all that, you used a torch to cut metal inside the tank where toxic gases are abundant. I have 1st hand knowledge of some horror stories. Please be safe!
Old rusty containers are some of the worst confined space to enter, oxidation uses oxygen in the tank. Have plenty of air purging and a fan blowing air. Obvious really, great videos keep up the good work
Let 'er buck! I haven't heard that one for ages. My husband welds large tanks for a living. I'm sure he would have a few words of wisdom like the other welders who have commented. Or he would just shake his head from side-to-side and walk away! From years back, I know he's said there's a buddy system for enclosed tanks. He had to take a safety course at work.
Hello friend, on the back/rear of a brake pot there is a bolt called a caging bolt that is to keep the emergency spring side compressed. When I measure my push rods after old pot uninstalled I will apply air to the service side with a airline with a shutoff valve/handle to both the old and new pot, that pushes the push rod out to it's max length so you get a bang on measurement. Also you had it right at first after installing the brake pot and installed your pins and air lines, remove the caging bolt make sure you release your park brake after chocking the wheels. Then do a brake adjustment, going all the way tight with the slack adjuster then backing off half a turn, will give you 1 ½" stoke. Cheers! Keep up the good vids! And hard work!
Just a tip, landing gears on semi trailers are normally rated at 50,000#. But I think you had the right idea with cribbing under the king pin plate. Never hurts to cya. One idea to save wear and tear on your well pump is to use rain water. If any of your sheds have gutters, hooking onto them and diverting water to the tanks would get more than you need very quickly. One inch of rain gives you just under 3quarts per square foot of roof area. A couple spring rains and they would be full. I did that off my shop roof, a couple years ago I had 10,000 gallons from 3 rains. The only issue is leaves in the gutters, but if you dont have trees nearby, it isn't an issue. If you did have leaves, a filter can be made from a 5 gallon plastic bucket and cheap 5 gallon paint strainers. They worked great for my rainwater setup. Just some ideas, good luck. The best part of it was it is all gravity, no electricity required to fill the tanks.
I listened to the Off The Husk last night. Sounded like a lot of fun. It was great finding out more about you and your family. I loved it. Great job!!!
What a very interesting new angle for your show. Well done. To you Larson Farmers, may I say for the Republic that we appreciate all you do; we love you for doing it; we hope and Pray you will continue to feed the country and Three cheers for you and also praying for $6/bushel corn :). You might want to invest in a sauna to deep clean all that pig poop out of your systems and build it near one of those lakes you are famous for. It will make the cold dip easier and better than a cold shower or hosing off.
Really enjoyed this video. You guys can always see the funny side of whatever you are doing. Hey, a great video will be when Nicole finally gives you a haircut. Can't wait for that one!!
Iv always wanted to now how things go on the forms I live in Iowa but I can't drive so I can't go see it so I like whating you because you show people every thing you do thank you
I worked for a company hauling liquid manure for nine years. Durring the time one winter i was inside all 11 tanks putting a huge 8 inch discharge pipes through the tanks, and up the front and a spreader on the rear.
Old tank looks great.....I would make a cover for the top to keep all sunlight out and keep algae from growing inside that tank though since you guys did such a great job getting it cleaned out. Going to be warm soon....can't wait to get rolling. Once again another great vid. Keep em coming! 👍👍👍👍👍
I I've done plenty Maxi replacements they won't necessarily kill ya but it will leave a lasting mark , when i was a applicator and we had many issues with the pin seizing up in between the slack and the yoke on the can so i would keep that little pin well lubed with antiseize several times a season on our old 1803 terragator 👍
You should cut a hole in the manway lid and weld in a coupler, that way you don’t end up with dead birds and critters in your tank. Just make sure that vent behind the manway works lol.
They have a hevy duty commecial gilmour 3/4" I.D. hose, open then ends for winter. IT should help the flow also if the hose is y'd off with a regular splitter, it cuts your flow by 50%. Gilmour sells a full flow Y and Full flow shuoff if you put one by the tank. That should improve the flow rate pending the well output. Tanks a lot for the video!
Chet i thought that was Mike Rowe from (Dirty jobs) coming out of the tank but alas it was the Big Swede . I agree with Matthew in a way I think Larson Farms and Millennial Farmer are both excellent channels Zack has his own way of doing his content Chet you have yours . I think both are exceptional channels keep up the great work .
big tip that would have saved you alot of time doing the brake chambers instead of compressing the spring by hand just go release the brakes and theyll compress
You guys should utilize all that shed roof as a water catch for rain and use it to feed tanks when possible. Dryer yard, smaller electric bill and longer well pump life.
Bravo pour ce chantier dans la citerne,déjà il faut y entrer, moi je ne passe pas 🤣🤣🤣 après c'est un vrai travail de bagnard, 👍👍👍👍 ça c'est du recyclage de matériel
You boys in MN sure do attract a lot of viewers. Your subscriber numbers should be higher. Guess some viewers are too lazy to hit that subscribe button. They probably get tired from watching how hard you work 🤣
@Scott Gadberry When replacing a brake chamber, you do have to adjust the brakes to make sure they are within spec. It may be close, but why not make sure it is correct.
Wow! You have to be kidding me. We farm in Northwest Washington and we sunk a 12 inch well casing down 100 feet to pump irrigation water from. Its plugged into an aquafier and has never run dry no matter what time of the year. We use a tractor pto driven 4 inch pump and can fill our water truck lickity split. I cant imagine using a garden hose to fill a 6,500 gallon tank.
Found this channel from the Off The Husk podcast and I love it so much! Keep working on amazing content like this. I love to see what some big farms are up to
Osha is going to love you. Wow, thank god everyone is still alive.
Yeah, thats incredibly dangerous.
Just think about the 60s and 70s than give your balls a tug
Chet you’re giving Zach Johnson a run for his money with the content man! Keep up the good work, I tell anybody who will listen to check you guys out! Informative, entertaining, and great situational comedy as well. Well done sir!
I would have to say that Chet has outdone the millie boy.
Its hard to beat zachs humor, but Chets operation is pretty interesting, and they actually work on the bigger jobs that are interesting unlike zach.
Me too .I love watching the Larson farm guys doing their thing
He's only 410 thousand subs behind
Lol
I do enjoy this more though
Check out "trippy farmer" too he is pretty good
Great video Chet

Makes me happy our milk tanks are 12,000 gallon smoothbore stainless tank trailers. No baffles, always clean.
It amazes me how much knowledge is required to maintain all the farm equipment!
I’m claustrophobic and I get goose bumps on my arms when you go in these tanks 😀😀😀😀😀
The little 4 inch long hole in the side of the brake chamber housing is where you can store that cage bolt that compressed the spring after it’s removed out of the cage so if you need it in the future to pull the equipment somewhere you can re cage the chamber and move it. 👍
Thank you very much Larson Farm for feeding me and my wife, and my cats!
An ideal man indeed.. Thank you for every hard work you did.. And thank you for the food we eat..
Looks like fun cleaning out the tank😂. Keep up the good work and great videos.

Thank yall for doing what yall do!!! Yall do put food on everyones table as farmers

It hasn't had high manure in it for years there's no methane in there

Great video why not put a fan in the pit to keep you cool JMO 👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great job Chet always great content now that’s a holding tank
Thank you Dougo for all you do for us

THANK YOU!!!!!! FOR FEED USE.
I listened to the Off The Husk last night. Sounded like a lot of fun. It was great finding out more about you and your family. I loved it. Great job!!!
congrats on 50k guys! vids entertaining as per usual!
Great content. Variety. Humor. Behind the scenes. Not all glamorous, clean shop, high dollar. 👍🏻👍🏻

Enjoyed this video thumbs up guys !!!! THANKS
Really enjoyed this video. You guys can always see the funny side of whatever you are doing. Hey, a great video will be when Nicole finally gives you a haircut. Can't wait for that one!!
I subscribe because I think farmers need over one million subscriptions and I like to eat.
at 10:07 when the Teflon tape disappeared, did cole the corn star grab it for his draw of teflon tape.
That was rough watching you do that brake chamber...I was yelling at the screen by the end....the old saying you gonna learn today...
Iv always wanted to now how things go on the forms I live in Iowa but I can't drive so I can't go see it so I like whating you because you show people every thing you do thank you
The landing gear gear should hold up the trailer when it’s full, Randy from Vt

Great video! I would tie your lid open so the wind won’t catch it and break your fittings, if you haven’t already. Keep up the great work!
Nice video of working on the tank
Old tank looks great.....I would make a cover for the top to keep all sunlight out and keep algae from growing inside that tank though since you guys did such a great job getting it cleaned out. Going to be warm soon....can't wait to get rolling. Once again another great vid. Keep em coming! 👍👍👍👍👍
Keep out the critters too !!🦝🐀
Hey, thanks for feeding us!!!!
If you use a heat gun on your hose next time it will slide together easier Chet keep the awesome videos coming
That is a nice job on the tanker it should work good
Good water setup.
Wow you got a lot done!!!
Awesome video and no bitching from me! 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks
You should cut a hole in the manway lid and weld in a coupler, that way you don’t end up with dead birds and critters in your tank. Just make sure that vent behind the manway works lol.
You are right a pit in the shop and I would also put in a nice overhead crain that can run the full length of the shop.
They have a hevy duty commecial gilmour 3/4" I.D. hose, open then ends for winter. IT should help the flow also if the hose is y'd off with a regular splitter, it cuts your flow by 50%. That tank is a confined space entry under OSHA
A farm equipment tour would be cool if you ever get the spare time to do one
What about a rain water collection off of the huge shop roof? You can divert it from a down spout into your tanks.
Chet not sure how far away the lift station is from the farm??? Is it possible to put a holding tank and pump for a water supply for the sprayers??
Good job
big tip that would have saved you alot of time doing the brake chambers instead of compressing the spring by hand just go release the brakes and theyll compress
You guys should utilize all that shed roof as a water catch for rain and use it to feed tanks when possible. Dryer yard, smaller electric bill and longer well pump life.
You should really get a 3" pipe hook a good squirrel cage floor fan to it so you can keep air flowing into those confined spaces....
I had the same thought.
My thoughts too.
And use a porta band saw to cut the pipe.
That American 🇺🇸 in the shop is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
God Bless Farmers.
great video keep them coming
Good idea on how that tank can be useful
Bravo pour ce chantier dans la citerne,déjà il faut y entrer, moi je ne passe pas 🤣🤣🤣 après c'est un vrai travail de bagnard, 👍👍👍👍 ça c'est du recyclage de matériel
Great 👍 video , would you do a video on your service truck it looks nice ?
Love videos Thankyou
Always get a thumbs up, sometimes even before I watch.
Good video, you'll need to follow better safety methods, as everyone has mentioned. I would have used a saws all to cut the pipe, no gas fumes.
Step one when putting it back together is get the slack adjuster hooked up first. Then the two bolts that hold it on to the frame. Then the air lines.
love the vids watched them all
With all the roofline you have maybe use a rainwater capture system for filling the tank. That or a tile water capture system.
You boys in MN sure do attract a lot of viewers. Your subscriber numbers should be higher. Guess some viewers are too lazy to hit that subscribe button. They probably get tired from watching how hard you work 🤣
I love your videos
Use spray silicone when putting that pipe together. Works good and not as messy
You needed to adjust the slack adjuster with the parking brakes off
you don't need to adjust slack adjusters anymore.
@@scottgadberry1377 I think he meant set it up....
@@scottgadberry1377 only if you have auto slack adjusters. Even with auto slacks, you need to keep an eye on them. They aren't perfect.
@Scott Gadberry When replacing a brake chamber, you do have to adjust the brakes to make sure they are within spec. It may be close, but why not make sure it is correct.
What kind of float did you install in your water tanker
Watching you work at the end there shows me how much high school has corrupted my mind😂
He was home schooled you can tell to he is rely good at everything he does
My family would love to put in a mechanics pit!! We are constantly under cars!!
Hello I love your vids
The little hole in the side us for your caging bolt, you can store it there
I have some Swedish fish candy for the Swede this Easter.
Wow! You have to be kidding me. We farm in Northwest Washington and we sunk a 12 inch well casing down 100 feet to pump irrigation water from. that tool you took out Chet is a caging bolt keep it handy if you ever have to wind the brakes off
Can you do a tour of the hog barns
what is your name I am a farmer and I love your videos.
Buy a portable battery band saw it be easier to remove pipe and not as dangerous be safe👍
Hi chet.Got a question for you how many acres is your farm over there . Im from australia .
Love the oil change pit you have, great for that and repairs underneath equipment. Do you have retractable grates or does it stay open all the time?
Open all the time normally always have something over it
Hi Chet and all, I guess one of the benefits of being bald is not needing to worry about getting the hair cuts! :D Good job!!
The little Dane and the big Swede aka turnip a are funny. They could take up being comics. Lol
Does the drain from the wash bay drain into a septic type system? Or just outside somewhere?
Found this channel from the Off The Husk podcast and I love it so much! Keep working on amazing content like this. I love to see what some big farms are up to
I like that you guys are not so color blind. Its not all about deere.
Parents raised you right. Getting it done.
There’s no way I would go inside that tank! Especially such a tight fit.
Wow! Break cheers in Houston are $35.00-$45.00. Mylanta do they get you guys on parts. I bout 4 for what you paid for 1. Ouch. Bless your heart man..
Its called caging the brakes,. Taking the long bolt out gives the brakes back into use.
