Brent's voice is untouchable. Timeless song, timeless voice = perfection
The original is probably my all-time favorite song. I think these guys did a great job, Brent's voice is one of the few in the world that could do this cover justice
Agreed respect just for trying think this is the first Pearl jam cover I've ever heard not to many people could really pull it off respectably but this is good
Aaron Lewis is by far the better vocalist.. not to shit in brents corn flakes or anything.. it’s just Aaron Lewis has a super human voice..
@@dolphousuranus2942 listen to shine down in my house on youtube, then decide you get to hear brett with no mic in some random house and might just change your mind, I think they did 2 or 3 songs
Brent could sing a Dr Seuss books and I'd still think it was amazing! His voice is amazing! Zack Meyers you did a amazing job on the acoustic guitar as well! #ShinedownNation
no matter what he sings it is awesome
Great annunciation. I finally know the words to this song. Brent killled it!
The fact that Brent and Zach had the balls to try this cover is awesome. Also, the fact the Pearl Jam had the respect to allow them to cover it is awesome. Shut the hell up if you don't like it.
THANK YOU!! Geez, the haters need to lighten up... a cover isn't supposed to be "good as the original"... it is simply the artists' expressing their respect of the original artist and song...
I love it but I don't think Brent hit the emotional parts like Eddie did. But it's still an awesome version.
As much of a toolbox as he is, check out Aaron Lewis’s version, he kills it
Brent's voice is like no other. Love it!
I like to hear him sing lighting crashes by live;)
That would be sweet. Now I'm bummed out that they haven't done a cover of it. I'm already hearing it in my mind and it can't be fulfilled.
I love this song so much..and they did such a good job playing and singing it.
My favorite band covering one of my favorite songs from my other favorite bands!!!
Brent is a bright shining star in this world. He brings a smile to my face every day with his fantastic voice : )
Brent Smith & Zach Myers of Shinedown will never be forgotten. 😞
I admire Brent Smith, he gives a awesome message on tour, so positive and one hell of a performance!
Ben Steele pearl jam is better. you like this better goof for you man. i took my gf to see shinedown like 5 months ago. gotta say pearl jam 25 years into their career, and 53 year old eddie was alot better live, and play cirlcles around shinedown. i mean pearl jam over 3 hours and over 30 songs and eddie crowd surfing. then u have shinedown that sits there and brent sits there plays with his hats wearing his im to cool sor school sun glasses lol. o well shinedown will never be on any level as pearl jam. pearl jam plays sold out shows in front of 30 thousand plus with no opening band. im glad eddie is outspoken i dont agree with everytjng he says, but he always has been outspoken its no shock now that he still is. you have fun with ur poppy shinedown music. i mean thats what breant said he makes poppy cathcy bullshit to sell albums. in otyher words he writes fake ass shit to sell albums. reguardless of you not liking pearl jam at least i know its real lyrics and from the heart. not gimmick shit to be catchy to sell tickets. so this art you are talking about a real artist make art they like and want to not art to please people.
Ben Steele im not trying to convince anything. u wrote me a book first i wrote one back
You should see him back stage. Total a hole. Still one of the best voices of all time though.
@@DavidSmith-ev1bd no he is not. He was really nice to me and the other fans that were backstage talking with him.
So badass to hear one of my top inspirations sing another one of my top inspirations masterpieces
Brent's voice is up there with the greats like for sure!
I totally love these two guys right here... So simple, so pure , so beautifully done with their own personal style ... Love this side of their visions..
I'm a musician now for over 35 years. Let me say thank you for this amazing voice. That I can listen to it ...
I love Brent's voice but Eddie makes me tear up when he sings Black.
Probably my favorite Pearl Jam song...could not stop listening to it back in the day. This was a great acoustic cover :) Glad I found this!
+Reverend Wartooth Aaron Lewis also does a killer cover of this song
+Hendrix 2013 That's the difference between an artist singing with emotion and an artist just singing. i think i said that correctly lol
+Hendrix 2013 yeah hes a great singer but he lacks that pain in his voice lol
***** I was going to say something like this. I just saw them in concert a few months ago and am going to see them again in March. He doesn't need pain in his voice, grunge is over....sadly lol (I grew up in Seattle in the 90's). He has emotion and positivity in his voice and that is just as good on my book :)
Brent's voice can pull of just about anything. I'd love to hear their version of Snuff by Slipknot. 💕
When I was a little girl the lady that used to babysit me her niece lived with her and was an artist, she loved pearl jam and I would just admire her and want to be so much like her. As she wore flannel shirts in a grunge Nirvana kind of way. I even have a middle school picture portraying just the same. She was a beacon for the artist within I fell in love with her soul as a child and fell in love with song just as much!
This is one of my favorite Pearl Jam song's. Great job Brent and Zach!
I like how Zach get really into the music. Brent's voiiiiice! MAAAN!! ♥♥♥
Please please release an album of covers. Please you make my heart ache. It hurts as I listen to your emotion being poured out into each note. Beautiful talent
Never heard this song untill i heard this. I have now listened to the original and holy hell. As much as I love these guys and Brent the original is just something else. Especially live. Seriously though Brent definaltely does the song justice the man has a beautiful voice and Zach is just hitting the hell out of that guitar with so much emotion like he always does. This cover is gorgeous.
Brent is the most exquisite vocalist and he made black in to his own simply amazing bravo to you
This version is actually pretty nice. It may lack vedder's accent, but his signature growl was still surprisingly present!
A great rendition of one of the greastest tear-jerker song ever written.
If Brent had done this before Vetter I would not have spent hours sitting in my bedroom floor stopping and rewinding, stop, rewinding, play....to figure out the lyrics! Lol wouldn't trade those memories though!
Smith rocks one of the best vocalist in music today
James Hetfield and Eddie Vedder are my favorite vocalists. Brent is 3rd
I have always been a huge metal head. And I always just thought Shinedown was just another popular hard rock band! One of those that just makes popular songs you will hear when ya are shopping. Well. I saw them live. And I’ve listened to this! And I have to say I’m beyond impressed!
I could say how it's not the same as the original - but that's the beauty of it. They really made it their own without losing the core of the song.
Brent, man your voice sounds awesome on this song.
My wife and i had the pleasure of seeing Smith & Myers a couple of years ago at the Sports Column in Denver. That was just Shinedown songs done Acoustic but they rocked it! Love all the covers they're doing!
only guitar Zach and voice Brent the perfect combination for a perfect song
this is the single best piece of music ever got me through some hard times
I couldn't love this version anymore, I've already watched it 20 times. He has the best voice!!
All hail Shinedown, for making every song better, and for being freakin awesome
Matthew Killingsworth this isn't better than the original if that's what you're saying but, it's not bad
Nothing will ever compare to Eddie Vedder live unplugged
awesome!

This is amazing shinedown im really glad yall did this song Its very good.
They MUST record more songs
Just got chills ,wow majestic work!!He,sang it as I would expect him to.for those that said not enough emotion etc,(like Eddie) I disagree,he just has more control over his vocals than Eddies raw emotional style. It wasnt PearlJam it was a version of "Black" preformed by Brent and Zach. You cant replace Eddie, and PearlJam and I know, that they knew it too.Awesome jam guys, keep it up and screw the haters.
Amazing
Absolutely Beautiful!

oh my god is there anything he can't sing without sounding so freaking perfect I love his voice
I don't think so. If so, I haven't heard it yet and I've been a rocker from age 6. I'll turn 51 this December. Lol
Chrissy Moore Honestly, he could sing me a diner menu and I'd be in musical Heaven ;)
Maybe Mmmmbop by Hanson. Or was this rhetorical? Lol He'd probably do it well enough I'd actually like the song.
Not really!
Agree wholeheartedly
