Spearfishing is about being selective only taking big fish and enjoying the awesome underwater environment while your there, not spearing any fish that swims in front of you.
Australia already has a large number of Marine Parks as well as regulations and restrictions which govern these and protect certain species while others have size and bag limits to stop overfishing. Basing your argument on an overfished country in the Mediterranean shows your lack of knowledge on this subject especially when it comes to Marine Conservation in Australia. Every spear fisherman I know in Aus believes strongly in the subject, maybe you should do some research before commenting again
Obviously none of you greenies have any idea... Just because its the GBR doesnt mean it is a green zone, there are thousands of square kilometres of reef that it is legal to spear or angle on. There are many many responsible spearfishermen that even if they were allowed on the protected zone, wouldnt touch some of the stuff there, And i dont logically see how Aboriginal Australians should have any higher rights to the Reef than European Australians, they couldnt own it all back in the dayanyway
you should remove this video Fishing within 500 feet of Live coral in the GBR can land you with a 100k fine. Huntin within the GBR live coral areas can land you with a 250k fine + jail time Unless ur Aborigz. Aus has been hardcore about enforcing this recently since someone dumped 50 spear caught reef fish in the dump, It only takes one hippy reporting this to the right place and your broke. UA-cam is also friendly with your countrys law enforcement. They give your IP on request and your done

well you should be allowed to spearfish if you killed 6 fish for nothing.
selective game hunting weakens the gene pool
