I feel like I might be coming out of it finally and this past week I’ve been eating right and exercising again. These podcasts have helped keep me motivated and focused. I will not quit.
Love this version of Eddie. Just a working class, hard knocks guy that worked hard and pushed himself. All of his success is due to him grinding. Very cool
I feel Brian is Ed’s mentor. An older guy, voice of reason. A strong stable voice. Good mates as well. I think Brian is just what Ed needs. I love them both.
Not if you've been following him from early on. He's a disgusting bully. Physically threatens anyone that gives him basic criticism. Hes willing to take endorsements to push snake oil and rubbish products onto his customers and have them waste their money. The guy has no integrity
I'm a 35 year old woman who just sits here so inspired by you both. I randomly came across one of your videos years ago and fell in love with your friendship, the comradery, and the healthy competitiveness between you both. i have a major respect for what you both do. Eddie thank you for being so vulnerable and opening up. That will impact so many. Its a beautiful friendship you two share.
I feel like Brian Shaw is Michael Jordan and Eddie Hall is the Kobe Bryant, but in a different context. The camaraderie and humbleness and humility between Brian and Eddie is absolutely incredible. I am amazed how these two have the bond they do. This is unheard of in basically every aspect of sports. Absolutely incredible. If this doesn’t motivate you, I don’t know what else could/can. This video will inspire SO MANY people that it’s hard to even imagine just the impact this video will have (and has had) on people watching.
Eddie thank you for your honesty and so thankful you are here with us, you are inspiring even though in those years it never felt like it could be better, you didn’t give up.
My heart goes out to @EddieHall It truly is hard to have serious conversations about mental health and confronting it. Thank you @shawstrength to helping bring about issues that a lot of people aren’t comfortable talking about. Wonderful podcast y’all! Go out and be great!!
The gym saved me. Just like Eddie, I had these older guys take me under their wings and guide me into the right direction, both with training, discipline and life. My father was great, worked hard and did the same. But the gym was really the only place that was able to pull me away from the trouble. Guys that I hung out with have been in and out of prison over the last 18 years where I took a different direction. Went and worked, competed in both bodybuilding and powerlifting. Competed as a state level sprinter. Just worked on myself. That's thanks to the gym and those men that took me in. Nothing like the gym. Thanks for sharing, Eddie.
180kg bench press at 17 years old. That's incredible. I loved this episode! Getting to see Eddie be vulnerable and open up was very touching. Don't think I've ever seen that side of Eddie before. It's refreshing to see his heart, being the tough strongman he is.
Brian is such a good interviewer. I don't think there is anyone else who could get Eddie to open up like this publicly. The two strongest people who have ever lived realistically. Genuinely one of the best podcasts I've ever watched.
Love hearing Eddie when he's not 'playing up' for the camera. I've seen a few long-form interviews and documentaries and it never stops surprising me how articulate and thoughtful he is, which he almost tries to hide when he's being daft. Really good stuff.
I was already a fan of Eddie but hearing him open up about what he went through took my respect to a new level. Thank you for speaking out and showing people who might be struggling that they can get out of it and go onto greatness. Also love to my fellow coloradan Brian as always
I'm a 2 yrs older than Eddie and I had almost the exact same experience at where I made great grades but ALWAYS got in trouble but I was lucky enough to have a mentor at my school who recognized these things and told my parents to get my off Ritalin and got me put in weightlifting and all advanced classes and looking back I'm convinced it saved me from ending up getting kicked out of school. Now I'm also a father and I recognize these same things in my son and it's very challenging but fulfilling to help him along his path. Great talk guys!
I have a very similar story to Eddie, never did my GCSE’s and dropped out of school when I was 14. I was totally lost and felt like nothing was worth while. I eventually got a job in McDonald’s and I’ve slowly ended up progressing to better jobs but still suffered with lots of mental health issues and ended up fat. At the start of this year I realised if I don’t do something then I’m going to have a long miserable life. Since then I’ve lost 17 lb in the last 8 months, I paid off all my debts, moved out my parents house and went back to uni to finish a degree that I deferred for 2 years, I’m about to graduate and I landed a new job in cybersecurity with a big company. I’ve never felt like I have more purpose in life and I put at least 80% of that down to lifting weights. Running has helped a bit too but mostly weights. I was always worried about going into a gym before but I realised that nothing was worse than the thought of being alone and sad for the rest of my life. If you’re down in any way, go and lift weights, you won’t change over night, set yourself the goal of being as fit as you can be and try new things in the gym and get into other sports if you can. That way you’ll never run out of having a new challenge. I can’t promise you it will do as much as it did for me but I can say with 100% certainty, you’ll feel a lot better about yourself. Delayed gratification stays with you permanently and makes you feel like you’re worth something because you’ve just spent the last 8 months or so looking after yourself. Stop the constant instant gratification and save them for the moments you can really enjoy.
So much love for Ed. I was a national level swimmer in the US while I was in high school after completely devoting my life to it. Got into college on the team and 3 months in I quit. Just couldn’t do the hours anymore. 14 hours a week for 7 years straight will fuck you up. Eddie was my inspiration to start lifting and now I have a degree in kinesiology
Brian is such a natural at interviewing. He gives such a balance to the conversation to avoid just being in the background asking questions but also not taking over half the conversation. Looking forward to more episodes!
I legitimately had no idea Eddie Hall had ADHD. That really makes me like him more, just seeing how he's persevered & his understanding of his condition is really nice to see. I struggle too and he's absolutely right when it comes to exercise. If you have ADHD you owe it to yourself to exercise.
His son appears to have it as well. It just takes discipline and concentration to master impulse control. Exercise helps. But there's other things like emotional health and security that can drastically affect it. Some people with it feel very isolated and misunderstood as the world constantly seems to correct them or go against their perceptions.
This was a beautiful and powerful podcast. Seeing Eddie be real and genuine helps. We all struggle. If the world's strongest men can cry then we all need to be a little more sincere.
ADHD is a blessing of fantastically good health. I went through this stuff. Failed many times then a light came on. I learned how to study the right way. Did great in college.

I had to pause the video and go have my own cry for a little bit and come back to watch the rest. Brian and Eddie are awesome, sometimes the universe aligns two people who were meant to be friends and bring joy to others.
Brian shows his true excellence again by doing a podcast. He is very professional and always shows complete respect and interest by asking a question and legitimately listening to the answer without butting in and talking over his guest. Well done brian.
I had ADHD growing up. Middle and high school was brutal until I told everyone going into my junior year including the school board and my doctor, "I'm done. Take me out of special education. Take me off the medication." From that point I excelled in school because I didn't have anything holding me back. Went on to college, excelled there. Now have my masters and am doing amazing work as a music therapist.
@@j.davila4523 what I practice is music psychotherapy. An evidence based practice by a board certified music therapist (if you are not board certified you cannot practice music therapy) that incorporates both verbal processing through dialogue just like the way most individuals would categorize as psychotherapy and music driven processing through music therapy intervention to support individuals processing trauma, pain, anxiety, depression through music whether that may be through songwriting, active music making, receptive music listening, guided imagery to name a few. Each case is quite different as each person processes music differently.
This is just amazing.. compare this to any other sport and you’ll find nothing like this. Rivalry, respect, compassion and love at the same time and these are the strongest man walking around on the planet.. simply amazing!!!
It was awesome to hear Eddie's story and to see genuine feelings. The shame associated with crying needs to be adressed, because there is nothing to be ashamed about. I am happy for him and his success in life, and that his son is following him in his footsteps is so awesome! I wish i had even a small percentage of that drive that he has
Hey Brian, I just wanted to express gratitude for putting this podcast together and bringing on so many inspirational and hard working guests. The work you're doing to help other people through creating this is truly massive. The obstacles that you and your guests have had to overcome in order to fulfill massive dreams is truly commendable, and is something that has genuinely brought fuel to my fire. I am sure thousands of people could say the same.
Absolutely Loved this. Eddie is definitely something different. The pressure this man put on himself is mind blowing. The fact that he put it down and gave in for his family shows the respect he had for his family. Sure we loose ourselves in our goals but when you look back he gave it everything. If he doesn't would he have won? Maybe not. I'm glad though that he has put his family first and that they also accepted him back as well.
Thank you, Eddie, for being open and honest. Life can be shit and you proved you can stand above it and keep going. You have a powerful testimony which inspires countless others.
It’s crazy how long I’ve watched these two make content. And I’m always so encouraged and inspired by them. Genetically I could never hope to be anywhere near as strong as these guys, but they are a huge reason why I go to the gym. They really do motivate myself and so many others to push on, work hard, and treat others right. Really loved to see the honesty and emotion here.
Who cares about how big you are? Go compete in your weight class, don't think that Strongman is an exclusive club just because you'll never get to WSM.
I dont care how big or strong you are, If youre in touch with available true emotions, You will have some tears here and there, what a statement to cry on a popularish Podcast, Great men here, Great friendship..
Eddie was on a podcast with giants live but it was rather short. I love the longer format ones and this hits that spot perfectly gives eddie time to really get into his story and I love it.
What we have here is a true friendship and brotherly bond between to men that we always see joking and messing around with each other, its nice to see this side of them as well.
Thank you for this podcast….two of my favorite strongman personalities who excel at all they set out to accomplish, highlight the struggle it takes to achieve greatness, and what it takes to overcome. The lesson is it takes dedication to your goals, and success isn’t handed to you…..these are things society needs to hear more now than ever before.
I can tell that Brain didn't like Eddie when they first met. He was really annoyed by Eddie's antics, but Eddie wanted to be Brian's friend so much, that he never let up and eventually forced Brian to love him. Which is the current state of affairs 😂
I can relate to Eddie with the depression and the darkness. I spent from 7 years old till well still in psychiatrist and therapy offices and on medication. Eddie raw is a gift and I'm glad I got to see it.
This is, by far the best interview of Eddie I've ever seen! What an insightful view of him! Brian you did an amazing job. 👏 I just love you 2 together. I love the banter, but I love how you both showed the obvious love and respect you have for each other in this interview. Again, what a great insight into Eddie Hall! I love you both so much more after this interview, which I didn't think possible! 🥰🥰 Much love to 2 of my favorite strong men! 💪💪 ❤️❤️💯💯🙏🙏
Listening to this makes me relate ro Eddie so much. Played badminton on a National level when 15-16, have about the same reason to quit, ADHD fking things up and having the imploding moment for the past year or two. Sucks but it's nice to hear some one talking about almost the same situations and how they dealt with it. One of the most touching podcasts I've heard. Thank you very much for this Brian and Eddie, love you both. Felt good to hear this.
Can we be honest for a minute- these are arguably two of the strongest (registered) men in human existence. If men do not listen to this wisdom and lived experience...which most of us frankly aspire to.. we might need help. Two legends. Being vulnerable, colloquial, direct. More people should hear this message- men or otherwise. Send this to your network!!
Brian, I know people that have went to University for Communications and could only hope to interview like you... Great job. Thank you Eddy, your honesty and reflection, it shines thru to all of us.
Both of you are so awesome! I've been through a lot of health problems past year and a half. I watch Brian or Eddie and it picks me up . Something about them makes me want to get up and fight back . I can't control what has happened i can't exercise or i don't know how without doing more damage but it makes me want to try and figure out a way. God bless you both . Great people
This episode was so open and genuine because they have that brotherhood, and a mutual understanding of what it takes to achieve what they have both achieved.

Gotta say, i think Eddie looks better with the full beard, but he looks a lot younger without. Just found this podcast... this is gonna be good. Never a dull moment with these two.

What does a music therapist entail? I'm curious
This is literally the first podcast I watched let alone for 2 hours ..... This is what we all needed!!!
Brian and Eddie, I too grew up this way. Mywhole family was military in the Navy. Your stories hit right home.
They need to give these 2 a full time TV show!! I would watch every episode!!
I watch this podcast and I see a great friendship. Don’t let anything ruin that friendship. Having friends like this are very rare.
Much love to 2 of my favorite strong men!
I could've listen to another hr of them just talking. Excellent work on the podcast! Truly love every minute.
Brian, I know people that have went to University for Communications and could only hope to interview like you... Great job. Thank you Eddy, your honesty and reflection, it shines thru to all of us.
Eddie lost like 40 kilos training boxing for one match.
Now he gained 80 kilos to do an podcast episode.
Its all about commitment, Ya'll.
was wondering if it was just me lol
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣
The ol boy got off gear and got sloppy lol still a great guy
he's doing EU vs NA strongman comp
@@curtista1 he's just about to compete in a Giant's Live Nation vs Nation contest. He's of course gonna hop back on higher doses and compete.
Brian comes across as a lovely person and a great friend to Eddie. Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast.
I’ve been looking forward to this one since this Brian started his podcast
"the bourdon of mortality lifts in the face of genuine dialogue" this is what this video is! Thank you sirs!
This podcast was awesome! I have a whole new respect for Eddie now. Can't believe this held my attention all the way through but man it was great
these two are truly one if not the greatest people to ever compete in strongman. Glorious friendship, glorious people, amazing attitude. I truly appreciate this episode, its awesome. Thanks guys for everything.
I'm so used to the two of you goofing around in just about every video (please never stop btw), nice to see you have a more chill conversation. You guys are awesome.
Two genuine best friends with no agenda other than love and respect for each other. Thank you Eddie and Brian.
Thank you so much Brian and Eddie for this. It was humbling to hear your honest conversation with each other. So much value in this moment. 💛💛💛
This Eddie is the man I look up to. He's been through a lot and even though he struggled to get it out, he talked about it. That's the toughest part. Bravo sir, thank you for being who you are.
It was hard watching Eddie get so emotional, mostly because I've been there and can relate. I'm sure a lot of listeners can relate as well. This is one of the best podcasts I've ever heard.
You guys honestly should do a show together. Doing anything, cooking, traveling, camping ... seriously you both don't know how good you are together.
Great podcast! Awesome seeing Eddie being as honest as he was is just amazing. Very inspiring to see.
I'm in a dark place and I needed this
So happy for this!! Wish they could cohost a podcast 🤗
Gotta say, i think Eddie looks better with the full beard, but he looks a lot younger without. Just found this podcast... this is gonna be good. Never a dull moment with these two.
