Seal's Face PUFFY From Tight Loop

- The rescuers always look for loose fishing line between seals, often it is attached to an animal and it can potentially lead to a double seal entanglement. This morning they find two seals dragging behind long strings of fishing line. They can't run properly, they keep on tripping over their entanglement, and the rescuers can easily grab both.
The first seal has fishing line tightly wrapped around his face, his while face was swollen up and puffy. He would not have been able to eat, the fishing line was a certain death sentence.
The second seal had a fishing hook stuck in its flipper with fishing line attached to it. Luckily the barb had been flattened, and the hook is easily removed from the animal. The wound looks fresh enough and the seal is allowed to go back into the ocean. 🦭

Oh that poor pup!! His or her eyes were almost completely swollen shut!! You guys are such WONDERFUL MEN for saving all of these poor seals that get entangled in our mess! The best part about releasing them right away is I hope that by the seals swimming in salt water, their wounds heal quickly. I hope that pup's swelling went down very quickly. ❤️
I'm guessing it's like having your circulation cut off. Ones the circulation is back to normal, the swelling goes down.
And to think the straws in turtles noses made the news and not these Seals in dire straits from fishing.

hopefully by being able to freely move around, the pressure being gone, and the salt water, will all help the swelling go down and return its face to normal
Unfortunately there are those who are after one thing when it comes to making profit off of fishing, crabbing etc,. Much ells caring for what happens to other wildlife by the waist they toss overboard. Thankfully we have people like the OCN that go out there and save those pore animals that are unlucky enough to cough in that garbage and set them free from it in hopes that they will remain that way.
It's neglect more than anything. Most people aren't purposefully hurting innocent animals, but they don't think. It doesn't make it right, though.

That said, teams (people) like OCN and untold singles or couples are out there doing good and making a difference for the Animals and the Humans.
We ALL can make a difference, right where we are with whatever is around us or in our Hearts to share.🤗💞
@Just Moi It's not ALL put out there on purpose. Tons upon tons of trash in our waters of the Earth, especially oceans, have ended up there after severe storms pick up debris or drag out numerous tons of debris in a single storm, LIKELY washing things overboard on rigs and ships as the extreme waves crash and thrash them about in a storm. Even tornados pick up land trash and STUFF and carry it until it drops it all someplace.
Think of videos you've seen of Tsunami, Hurricane or Tornado and how debris is literally flying through the air. Some of that might be something you left outside or ready for Trash pick up in a nice tight trash can that explodes open under pressure of a storm, then out goes your trash into the environment.
It's everybody involved in creating trash and waste and having their little gadgets... etc .

Hopefully the pup with the swollen face should make a full recovery, I've seen it happen to dogs when there's been a wire used as a collar and their heads just swell up massively, once removed over time their heads shrink back to normal. Two really bad ones today. My heart is broken a little. Naude said on Instagram that the face line pup is ok now, they saw him again 4 days after the rescue with no swelling. At least some good news there.

So,I would've been wondering how that little pup was doing, and it would've nagged at me for awhile! I'm so happy to hear he (or she) is doing better!!! Thanks again!!!
How did they know it was the same pup? I don't see them tagging the seals in any way, and I assume they'd need to get quite close to see any lingering injury or scarring.

@@ramblynrocketeer the flooded villages are recovering slowly. It's raining every day and it's much too cold for August. We only have 12 degrees C at the moment, normally around 30 degrees. I fear we are at the beginning of the climate catastrophe 😔

What could be more deserving of a TV series, than a show about a group of selfless people, who have dedicated a great portion of their lives for the sake of saving sealife? Thank you for what you are doing! You are giving back so much to the planet and allowing those seals to live a better life.
Their crucial work helps them survive and live! In many cases, eventually the lines could get entangled on something underwater and they wouldn't be able to free themselves and drown. They've also said another seal could get tangled on the line caught on another seal. Thankfully, we haven't seen that yet, not sure if/how they'd survive if they did.
I am so VERY THANKFUL for the work OCN does to help these poor seals. The seals are unintended victims of the fishing industries, that just throw this horrible stuff into the ocean, instead of properly disposing of it in the first place!!! 😢
These are the most satisfying videos to watch when you guys save these poor seals. Using scissors work so much better than a knife in most cases. Those nets you guys use seam to be the ticket for capturing and keeping them calm. I thank you for all you do for these seals. I now subbing to your channel.

OMG, two horrible cases with these pups. Will the poor pup with the swollen face bd okay? Thank goodness the fishermen flattened that barb because it would have been an awful, painful release otherwise. That hook was enormous.

We have no way of knowing if he will live. All we know is now he has a chance.
They mentioned on their livestream on Aug. 29th (starting here on the live stream if you'd like to see their response yourself - ua-cam.com/video/Mlpn-6j0BFI/v-deo.html :)) that they have seen that pup with the swollen face twice since his rescue, and the swelling has left completely. (They recognized him by the line on his face that was left behind.) So, thankfully, so far at least, it does seem like he is recovering well.

It's our mess, it's our job to clean it up. Thank you for what you do. Here in Texas there was a man that lived on Padre island. And for 30 years he would pick up trash along 70 miles of beach. Unfortunately he passed away but in honor of him hundreds of people show up every year to pick up the trash washed in from Mexico. It only takes one pesons action to have a ripple effect.

Oh man! That was horrific and so so sad. I "liked" the video, not because I liked what was happening, but in hopes that it will pop up on more feeds and people can see what happens to the crap often tossed in the ocean. That was just heart breaking. Way to go OCN!
I wonder what you can do against it. Obviously I personally don't go around throwing plastic loops into the ocean but I can bet some of the trash I produce ends up in the ocean one way or the other. Even though I'm living in the middle of Europe.
One thing you can do is to stop eating seafood! Reduce the demand!

You guys are amazing. I rescued a tiny kitten once with fishing line wrapped around her head. It was so swollen you couldn’t even tell she was a kitten. She did end up loosing an ear but recovered otherwise and more importantly she lived! Thank you for all you do!
Hello Seal rescuer and Ocean Conservation folks. There are hard to watch. The carelessness of mankind will be the down fall of us all.
As I watch these helpless seals, who are flesh and blood and air breathing creatures of both land and sea, being victimized i cry most of the time. You folks should have a seal museum that showcase what you have seen with retrieved objects and videos for everyone especially the younger generation.

There's probably no way of telling if these innocent victims of man's callous practices survive after the lines and hooks are taken out, but you guys certainly give them more than a fighting chance to survive their ordeal. I guess salt water is a wonderful, healing environment to be let back in to....great work guys 🙏🏻
They have caught quite a few again that looked like they had entanglements but it was just the scar. From their research the salt water is the best way for healing.
The pup with the hook was running just fine afterwards. The pup with the swollen face seemed to have good energy but it will take some time for the swelling to go down. Hopefully it just looked worse than it was and there isn't too much damage. He must be very hungry

When the hooked seal was let go, you showed her return to the water. I LOVED the view of all the little seal heads bobbing out in the water. They KNOW you're catch, release (from entanglement) and RELEASE! So they just hang out and wait to come back in! They seem to know ots no real threat to them when OCN arrives!! 💞
