This young Ashcroft had such foresight. Truly an individual bursting with incredible feelings. And a voice like no other. Beautiful. He knew exactly what he wanted to become. The Superstar that he is. BTW...Loved his style then, love it now. 👏
The quiet one Nick sniggers at Richard's lampooning of Mick Jagger. Ashcroft immense confidence but look at whst they did over the next 12 years. Great band just couldn't stay together man.
+Joel Godinez Nah the manager did. Many young people in the UK have boycotted the Rolling Stones after their greedy and disgusting commercial business antics
@@Kelly-qy4yr Nick was very quite and shy. But they got along very well. Wasn't till 95 when recording A Northern Soul that they started to fall out. It wouldn't be Verve without all 4 of them, each member played such an important part to their sound. That's why no one sounds like them
This interview is a perfect perfect example of a clash of personality types: the one who is comfortable with themselves and the one who resents the other b/c they themselves are not as confident in their own skin. They are equally talented and amazing and I so wish, for the sake of the music and the fans, they had found a way to meet in the middle.
The comfortable personality is Richard, the one who is resentful and uncomfortable personality is Nick. In other interviews such as these the difference is huge.
Hahaha!!!! He jabs Mick Jagger. Maybe Mick had a vendetta against him after this and was waiting for an opportunity to steal money from The Verve. Then BSS comes out and Mick and the gang take claim for stealing themselves from The Staples Singers.
A thick accent while being high: I can barely understand him! But yeah, give any band dole money for a year to "develop". Here in America, you "develop" after working all day. Everyday.
0:14 So if they were on the dole for a year then how did they find the money for instruments, clothes for the performances and transport for gigs and not forgetting paying the rent etc etc?
Poor Nick, looks pretty anxious here! giving the fact he was very shy and quiet, but I'm surprised to see his interviews now and look him much confident :D
Massive egomaniac. The only song of genius was written by The Stones, and The Verve didn't receive a penny after getting sued for stealing it. The rest of their music is mediocre. It doesn't matter how well he sings without great songs.

He knew exactly what he wanted to become - another singer/songwriter.
28 years later. Richard is still a top dog.. Respect.. Paul.
The stones were just jealous cuz the new lips were so much prettier
I agree with Nick entirely
😂
😂❤
Agree so much with him about people putting on a performance being considered mad because everyone else is so boring
THE BOSS!
nick looks like he's re-living an episode of Rainbow!!! Zipeeeeeeeee!!!

When you’re the GOAT you don’t need to say anything
who is john lennon. Ashcroft said it best later. Music is there to be enjoyed.
@MARMARR1 oooohh. touchy
Not much. These days, he's more vocal and friendly.
wow and the rolling stones got the "last" laugh there.
+Joel Godinez Nah the manager did. Many young people in the UK have boycotted the Rolling Stones after their greedy and disgusting commercial business antics
no I think people stopped going to see them because they're fucking shit
Nick is shoegazing
❤
Nick's inner thoughts: "STFU Richard!"
Well….Nick needs to chill. RA is a front man, without him, there would be no Verve.

OMG Ashcroft was so beautiful..

which is which?

Nah, McCabe is clearly sick of listening to a megalomaniac. Most normal folks would respond similarly, especially if one is talented like McCabe.
Mad richard silent nick..
Christ, you can see even back then the friction between Ashcroft and McCabe...Nicks sat there thinking "Jesus what a prick"
I always thought they were so different
McCabe has a lot to say
the video is 420

Amazing find! Mad Richard in his 'Selling The Verve' prime.
Richard is so adorable here...
He's so high.
Nick tell me about ur pets.. or something
He was young and he was trying to imitate Mick Jagger..
Hahaha!!!! He jabs Mick Jagger. Maybe Mick had a vendetta against him after this and was waiting for an opportunity to steal money from The Verve. Then BSS comes out and Mick and the gang take claim for stealing themselves from The Staples Singers.
my god, i love richards' moves :D

How taking the the piss out of the Stones came back to haunt Richard with Bitter Sweet!
All good now !
A thick accent while being high: I can barely understand him!
But yeah, give any band dole money for a year to "develop". Here in America, you "develop" after working all day. Everyday.
He looks cracked

@dec222222 haha hes deffo drugged up

Because it's sexy! It's glam rock.
0:14 So if they were on the dole for a year then how did they find the money for instruments, clothes for the performances and transport for gigs and not forgetting paying the rent etc etc?
mite aswell have used a cardboard cut out of nick
bwaaah fully he is of his fricken head. But the good thing is he is much more grounded these days.
Why is Nick there, he didn't say a word in the whole interview!

Poor Nick, looks pretty anxious here! giving the fact he was very shy and quiet, but I'm surprised to see his interviews now and look him much confident :D

completely ripped off ian browns attitude lol
I guess the Rolling Stones had the last laugh on these guys.
Not for too long. Richard got the last laugh

Nice🏴
I heard a lot of I's in Richard's vocab.
Both brilliant though, Nick is borderline genius, and I love his Izzy Stradlin attitude.
Really? I hear a lot of “we’s” and “the band”
