    I'm building one of these at the moment. It's a lovely kit. A couple of points - the fit at the rear of the hull isn't great but I found it could be clamped top to bottom and didn't need filling. I also found that the running gear needs to be pressed home as far as they will go or they will interfere with the fitting of the skirts, there's not much margin for error. I superglued the searchlight on because of the very small joining area. I agree that the thing in front of the commander's hatch looks like the vane sight and should be an open structure. Lastly, I replaced the BESA barrels, they're a bit on the thick side. All in all a good, fun build - bring on the Centurions :-)

    Thing you put in front of the commanders hatch is the gun-laying blade-vane gun sight also known as the ‘birdcage’

    Ah, these are the best. They have two at Duxford IWM and I was looking at them the other week. So bleeding quick, with a great gun and a low profile.

      I like the Comet at the entrance, get a good look as I drive past. Oddly my girlfriend never seems to share my enthusiasm and tells me to 'keep my eyes on the road '

    The thing in front of the commander's cupola looks like a very heavy version of a vane sight, which ought to be just a series of rods & bars to roughly judge the direction of a target. This seems to be a filled-in version of that.

      I thought about that, but figured it wasn't because of that filled-in-ness.. Could very well be that though.

    Good kit but I don’t understand why they can’t make fully detailed tracks. It’s annoying

    I'm curious, why is it called 28mm by some people but then 1/56 scale by that kit?

    • @HerbertErpaderp
      @HerbertErpaderp  4 роки тому

      A human figure in that scale is around 28mm tall, is the reason. Same for 15mm or 32mm scale

      @@juawei1940 I'm so glad someone asked this question. I've found that 1:48 corresponds to 28mm figures in my (admittedly limited) experience. This allows for so-called 28mm Heroic figures. I've started looking at kitbashing figures and vehicles and 1:56 vehicles seem too small. I'm not saying this to be contrary (or a dick), Herbert, this is what I've found on my shelves.

      @@nbell63 all those smaller scales are completely alien to me haha, I've really only ever dealt with 1/35th or larger.
