  • This video is about how to fix a sagging chain link gate the proper way. I learned how to do this from my dad. He has worked in the fence industry for over 30 years and I worked with him for a few years before I became a Real Estate Broker. There are many ways to accomplish leveling a gate but in my experience with the hardware that this gate was made with this is the best process in my opinion. Never use a wheel! It can cause more damage to a gate than it is worth.
    I hope this helps!

    I’m definitely trying this. I’m the caretaker of a 12 acre nature park in Marietta Ga and need a few tutorials. Thanks so much. I’ll let you know how it goes.

    Definitely better than the videos on Home Depot. Thank you. I jumped through this (fast forward?) first and didn't watch. Immediately answered half my questions just with clear video picture.

    I'm struggling with tightening the rope clamps. My socket is too wide to fit onto the nut without hitting the other nut, so I'm trying to use a wrench. Trying to hold the contraption with pliers is getting frustrating because I can't get a good grip enough to really tighten the nuts. The video instructions are awesome and I know once I'm past this hurdle, I'll be on the right track..haha!
    Thanks for the very helpful video!!!!

    Wonderful... You have a gift and talent fm God.. I am planning to build a cyclone with gi pipe in my lot but the problem here in the Philippines we dont have appropriate parts like tension bar and band to tighten the wire and those elbow connections for the gi pipe u showed here. U r blessed there with all necessary tools to install the fence. We here wud just have to use welding machine to weld the cyclone wire to the gi pipe.. Thank you so much for sharing and tc and stay safe and God bless

    Any particular reason you put the turnbuckle at the bottom instead of the top? It seems it would be more convenient for future adjustments to have them at the top.

    Great video. One note, you turned the turnbuckle clockwise. Not counter clockwise. But, easy mistake to make.

    Why didn't you put the turnbuckle at the top so adjustments could be made without having to get down on the ground? (Old creaky knees here LOL!)

    What size drill bit did you use and what brand? My drill bits are to small to pass completely Thur

      Leo Hernandez I believe it was a 3/8 bit that is 3 1/2 inches long. It has been so long however I could be wrong.

    What thickness of wire are you using? Your link goes to 1/16 wire which seems thin to me.

      RoTTon SKiPPy I used what was best for this gate but it is personal preference. If the gate you have is bigger a bigger gauge or a rod could work.

      1/8 wire worked fine for me on a 6 foot wide walk gate I built. No sag. Home Depot didn’t have 1/16 kits with clamps so I got 1/8

    How do you. Fix a support at the end if it's in cement.

    • @HowTosandReviewswithDan
      @HowTosandReviewswithDan  2 роки тому

      Is the gate hinge anchored into cement? If so, I would remove the hinge out of the cement and install a steel plate (at least 1/4” thick) onto the wall using new anchor holes on all corners of the plate over the existing hole area. Then I would weld a hinge to the plate to hang the gate on to. FYI Cement anchors should be used with the proper weight rating. However, it sounds like you may want to call a local gate company for help because if done incorrectly it could cause injury to someone if the gate falls off due to improper installation.

    Shouldn't you be able to do this by adjusting the hardware that the gate was originally installed with?

    • @HowTosandReviewswithDan
      @HowTosandReviewswithDan  2 роки тому +1

      You can only get so much adjustment with the hinge hardware. Over time the gate bends due to the stress of the weight. This fixes that issue.
