- Perhaps the most iconic and popular ballpoint pen in the world, this is a closer look at the Bic Cristal Xtra Smooth ballpoint pen that is made in Mexico. This package of 10 medium point blue ink pens included three additional color pens (pink, green and brown).

I think it’s great that you can talk about a Bic pen for 11minutes!
Hi Lysander! When you start talking about something you like the time seems to go by so fast! People have asked me what is there to say about a pencil or a pen? I tell them there's much to say if you really want to examine them :-) Thanks so much!
Well, he do speak awfully slow. I watch the video on speed 1.5
What's the price of this Pen?
This package of pens was sold for $1.00 USD.
I've found a few "fashion colous" Bic pens in the past, such as a hot pink and a sky blue. The former wrote very smoothly and the ink was actually scented, so I gave it to my mother; the latter, though, I'm not sure if because of lack of use or _too much_ use, always felt rough and scratchy despite the nib being standard 1mm. In the end I stayed with neither because their inks didn't contrast enough on white Brazilian notebook paper ( _almaço,_ pronounced owl-mah-soe, no English translation).
The almost opaque ink tube reminds me of the Bic Diamante (Diamond), a Brazilian exclusive model with transparent body and barrel and colour-coded tip and stopper. It's elegant and writes pretty decently, but I'm not a fan - the barrel is made out of the same acrylic material as the Cristal, but it is completely round and tapers at the end where the nib press-fits into it, like a Round Stic. That creates a pressure hotspot that the barrel can't flex to accommodate like the Round Stic can, and even if you have the hand pressure of a quill-writer's, it inevitably cracks and the tip becomes loose. Several times I rehoused the writing assembly of a Diamante inside an old and battered Cristal barrel.
Hi - Bic has recently come out with many more brightly colored inks in some of their pens. They have even included a couple of bright ink pens (hot pink, bright green, turquoise) in their multi-packs of blue and black Cristal pens. I guess this is a trend right now. I have never heard of the Diamante, but I can imagine if the tip of the barrel cracks where the ball assembly is placed then these are not great pens to write with, especially if write with any kind of pressure. Thanks for all the information on the Brazilian Bic pens!!
Hi there Always Analog, would you say these are smoother than the standard bic cristal. Sorry if I keep asking. I'm so obsessed with pens. 😄
Hi TLHA - these pens are the standard Bic Cristal pens. Here in the US (and perhaps elsewhere) they are labeled as "Xtra Smooth."
@@AlwaysAnalog Hi there, sorry my question wasn't clear.
What I meant was is the "easy glide ink " better than the tradional bic ball pen ink found in the "BIC Cristal Original".
@@TLHAFullEpisodes yes they are
Hello, just bought some of these. I live in Australia and the ones I got are made in France. Tinted blue barrel. Yet to try them.
Question out of left field... where do you get your legal pads? For reasons I have no clue about it is almost impossible to find ruled legal pads down here. Thanks for the vids!
Hi jayrobb9! Great to hear from Australia! Here in the US, almost every store that sells school/office supplies has legal pads. They are a very common item here. Thanks!
@@AlwaysAnalog thanks for the reply. Yellow pads are common enough here, but with the ruled margin down the left side? Nup.
Tried the pens. Extra smooth indeed! Glided across the page. Overall I wasn't a fan. Think I prefer a little more 'bite'.
We have an abundance of legal pads here because the US is a ridiculously litigious country. I went to law school so I know this but I know other countries aren't like that so there's not as much a need for these types of supplies. These pads are literally made for lawyers (hence the name "legal" pads, though others use them too). They're made in regular and legal-sized paper too.
Can you review the bic round stics next and do a comparison?
Hi - that's a good idea for a video. Thanks - I'll do a comparison but I'll have to get some round sticks next time I'm shopping. Thanks for watching!
Always Analog thanks. Walmart stopped selling the round stics for some reason so don’t check there. Target has them and so does dollar general and a couple other stores. CVS has them but i wouldn’t recommend getting them there because they’re too expensive there
What bic pen would you say for big cursive handwriting that flows smoothly
Try the Bic Xtra Bold pen - it has a 1.6mm tip and it flows very smoothly. Thanks!
@@AlwaysAnalog due to Brexit it's not available on UK Amazon at the moment
for how much time do they last again?
Hi Arceus - I don't know exactly but they are long lasting pens. Thanks!
The Cristal Made in Mexico ink quality is a hit or miss (more of a miss lately). I just bought a pack that has a good ink quality
please ,what is the price per pen in dollars?
Each one of these pens would have cost about 15 cents. Thanks for watching!
Can I take this 4 OMR sheet
Hi Mp4 Mp3 - I'm sorry but I don't know what an OMR sheet is.
@@AlwaysAnalog install some good browser
Wtw. OMR (optical mark rereading sheet).
O
For exam purpose
i love ballpoint pens so much
Hi Vince! I agree - ballpoint pens are great! Thanks for watching!
I bought one of those Mexican BiC sticks with "dark" green ink and it's trash. My Pentel RSVP's green ballpoint ink is the genuine article.
I heard that the Profile has quality Korean ink and the red ink version is gorgeous.
Hi Lucius - I will have to try and RSVP in green. Thanks!
The shifty focus was really unpleasant.
Please focus on the positives.
