  • How good is Muc Off bike cleaner and bike protect? And how do you use it? I give it a go on my Orbea Oraca OMX and review both the Muc Off Fast Action Bike Cleaner as well as the Muc Off Bike Protect. The review is not sponsored by Muc Off and is completely honest. the muc off protection smells super bad like wd40 and protect nothing its more like a dust magnet. In general i use car wax, shampoo, polish... it works much better (if buy the good stuff) and is much more cheap...

      @@mortlow6688 Thanks for sharing! The smell.. well, I guess thats a matter of personal preference. I've noticed that the smell wears off quite fast. I tend to agree that the Bike Protect does not fill that much purpose. The cleaner, I find more use full. :)

      I have found the cleaner to be very good leaving the bike in really good condition and really helps to shorten cleaning times. The bike protect is also good but smells awful and if you get any of it on your brakes it hugely effects performance (yes I am a moron for getting it on them). Great vid though : )

    The line to fill with 75% water is just to refill the bottle. When you buy this product is already mixed, but when it’s over you can buy the refill (which is concentrate) and mix it with water 👍🏻

    I love both of these products especially the Bike Protect. It's awesome and really makes the bike look top notch clean. It does help a lot also to keep dirt/grime off the bike and any that does falls off on the next wash.

    The instructions on the side of the bottle are for when you buy the concentrate separate and use this squirt bottle after you have finished using what was already in it. It does say this on the bottle ❤this is a TFR, i use this on my car too, its amazing on brake dust and road rash (speckles of black tar on paintwork) ❤

    I just bought this product and looking forward to trying it. But can I give you a bit of advice? I’ve been washing motorcycles for over 45 years and what really helps is using a backpack blower after rinsing! Especially with a bicycle that has small mechanical components! You’ll never need to dry your bike again!

    • @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT

      The clear coat should protect it. But it has its limitations. If you alway park the bike in the sun, you can’t protect it no matter what. So the beat way is to store your bike inside, out off the sun. The time you spend in the sun while riding is to short to have an effect.

    Great tutorial, please do allow me to share my washing routine, i use the muc off c3 dry lube (dish soap soluble no need for degreaser AT ALL) So i blast water into the chain links and spray dish washing liquid on the chain and brush all of the chain + pulley + chain rings and i once again blast it. By this stage the only thing on the bike is dirt on the frame and totally oil free. I then spray dish washing liquid all over the bike without any care for rotors because if you can eat off your plates, your rotors will not be contaminated. I then sponge wash the whole bike and proceed to drying/protection. Since i have used Turtlewax ice seal and shine on the frame and wheels, dishwashing liquid will NOT remove any hydrophobic coating at all (proof on youtube video on the turtlewax) all i have to do is use a portable air blower to blast off the water and since it is hydrophobic it just slides off. I blast all bolts as well as FD and FD as well as chain. By this time the bike is 100% dry and chain is 80% dry. I feel comfortable to relube the FD, RD and chain with 0% chance of contaminating the brake rotor. I bought the muc off protect but i have never found it to be a good idea to spray any aerosol anywhere within 50m radius of my pads and rotors. I wash my bike once every week and they are absolutely pristine.

      @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT  2 роки тому

      Thank you! Sounds like you’ve worked out a great recipe for a clean bike. Have you ever run in to any dirt/grime that the dish soap wouldn’t solv? Ps. I love the C3 dry lube. 👍

    • @nanofingaz
      @nanofingaz 2 роки тому +1

      @@MYnextDIYbikePROJECT Not at all! Since my wash routine is a week at most and i dont even wipe my bikes in between rides, once i let water soften up the road debris, it just comes off, But of course it can easily be replaced with the muc off pink nano cleaner. The main point is avoiding the super chemically strong degreaser for they require at least dishwashing liquid to wash away. I cant believe how some big names in the game actually recommend to wipe the chain off and lube the chain with residual degreaser still in the roller gaps🤮 just try to spray muc off degreaser on your finger and you will realised that even high pressure water will not fully get rid of it. Now try dishwashing liquid and only then it will feel squeaky again.

    When cleaning your bike with your wheels taken off how do you get the pads not to move in. I have been told when you take your wheel off you need to have a disc brake pad spacer so they dont close in. What solution do you use?

    • @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT
      @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT  2 роки тому +1

      Very simple, don’t push the brake levers. As long as they are left alone you are in the safe zone. If you’re anxious, put blocks in the calipers to prevent the coils/pads to move in if you happen to push the levers. 👍

    Hi, what is the difference between bike protect and silicon shine?

    • @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT
      @MYnextDIYbikePROJECT  2 роки тому +1

      As far as I’ve understood, bike protect ids for application on frames, handle bars, seat posts etc. static parts for making them less adhesive to dirt. The silicone shine is for shocks and moving parts.

      If you compare it with a mountain bike that have been through mud, dirt and grime, yes. But a road bike is a precision tool and a dirty bike will both preform better, wear less and look better. So regular maintenance and cleaning is necessary even if it’s not dirty or muddy. How dirty do you suggest a bike should be before you clean it?

      For deep cleaning of drive train and other greased up and exposed parts you need something tougher. The bike cleaner is mostly for the frame and painted parts. My experience is that its great for regular maintenance and proactive cleaning. But for cleaning old dirt and grease that have gotten old and rubbed in, you need to clean deeper and also rubb it of with a sponge.
