    My son (2 as well) has also recently discovered the fun of playing in the closet so I painted some of his hotwheels with different colored glow in the dark paint to play with in there. He absolutely loves it. My husband picked up glow in the dark tape (that's safe for walls and carpet) and put a special race track in the closet on the floor.

    Mom to a lot of kids here: Some kids just stop taking naps. It sucks big time because you know they need it but they just don't want to. Give her some quiet time alone in her room or near you but don't force it or make deals. It puts her in control. If you haven't read this book then I'd recommend it to a lot of parents: Parenting With Love and Logic.

      My oldest daughter was four and my youngest was 2. My youngest just stopped taking a nap. But I still made her lie down with her sister so she wasn't alone.

    I love that you let Chell be a kid!! Exploring is such a great learning tool, she is gaining confidence and will carry that with her for the rest of her life! People were very judgmental of the way I raised my children like that and they are confident, well adjusted and most importantly, happy people! Thanks for sharing!

    As soon as my daughter tried to write, I found little letters everywhere. A voucher for a cappuccino she would make me between my socks, a heart that said I love you mom in the pocket of my jeans, a picture 'best mom' behind the coffee mugs... I'm happy that it wasn't old food!

      Searched the comments for a mention of this, my heart dropped when I saw her do that and wasn't told not to, it hurts so bad if your fingers gets caught by the door.

      My son didnt want to listen to me when I would tell him no. He caught his fingers once, just ever so slightly that he got a small pinch, never did it again. Sometimes kids will learn the hard way on their own.

    I saw your video about Karma today. I'm sorry you have to go through that with her and Sparta. At least, you guys had a plan B for when it didn't go right. And you guys have to reward yourself for taking in that kitten when she deperately needs it. I hope one day, you'll find a kitten that will get along with Sparta. It may be scary the next time since you went through that, but I believe that it may work. On a positive note, I still have my freshman homecoming dress. It is a neon teal, short length, and strapless dress; it looks beautiful but was a hassle to wear them due to it being strapless.

    Toilet locks work wonderfully to keep your kids from flushing stuff. If you leave a kids potty beside the toilet so they can use that when they need to it's all good.

    I haven't watched this channel in forever, sadly. I'm so happy seeing you guys just so happy, so happy in life and flourishing as a family. When I was a kid, I used to watch you guys all the time, even before you moved to Alaska. Now I'm fourteen years old haha. I wish the best for you guys, I've never really had a "family" But seeing you guys taught me what a family is like, what I can live for when I grow up. What "happiness and love" Looks like. I love you guys, I hope you have an amazing life. Hopefully I'll have more time to watch your vlogs more. I'd also like to say thank you so freaking much, you guys are the ones who really made me look at life in a different light, made me realize that life is so much more than this, just thank you so much for saving me at times when I needed it. Thank you

    I’m sure you won’t take parenting advice from a commenter. Your kids need structure, routine, and security of a parent giving guidance. They’re adapting to their own gratification. Conforming to school or a classroom is not going to happen smoothly. Kids feel more secure in structure knowing what comes next in their day every day. If you just google kids security structure the results will show this. Chaos and a lack of routine does not help develop self-discipline. They sense control of everything that’s not safe and it’s not going to be given up easily. Regardless they look happy and healthy good luck with your family.

    Be careful with Chell and the toilet - for safety reasons, obviously - but also, we had a blockage once that was so bad we had to call a plumber. When he got the blockage dislodged it turned out to be a maraca, of all things! The persistent problems we had with a toilet at a prior house turned out to be the head of a small hammer, probably left by a small member of the prior family that lived there. It's amazing what kids can put down a toilet.

  • @Unskippable_Cutscene
    @Unskippable_Cutscene 6 років тому +13

    Its good to pick your battles, but you shouldn’t bribe your children to do things, that could(note, COULD) turn into negative behaviour. She could learn that she can get what she wants by doing something or not listening to you. If you want her to take a nap, she will want you to do something for her if she does. If you want her to do her homework, you have to give her something or do something. While at first fun, it may become a negative behaviour for her in the future.
    Note that this isn’t guaranteed but being in the field of work around children of many age groups all the time I’ve seen plenty of children who have developed this negative behaviour from their parents offering things just for them to do something they are supposed to. Also noting this doesn’t include being paid to do chores, chores generally start in late school aged and at that point they can learn how jobs work and that they can get money for doing a job.

    Fyi you complained of Wi-Fi in one part of your house. Amazon has Wi-Fi extenders. I read that people say they work for extending the Wi-Fi range in a long house. Be sure to get one that matches your router e.g. Att router with att extender, N router needs an N extender. Get a consultant at a tech store and buy at a tech store i.e. No amazon.

    Honestly i'm disappointed, Cory you told us you wanted to get back to doing the adventure thing and I hoped a little DLH crazy once in awhile. I kinda figured it wouldn't happen and most likely won't. Your life and family life parallels to close to my life and my family except I'm 3 children ahead of you. Anyways, I've honestly have slowly started to tune you out on UA-cam and to be honest the sponsors thing is a little much for me. Your beautiful wife does a awesome job, nothing against her I just feel like I'm watching an add these days, actually you lost me mostly after your move from Alaska. Your best, After Alaska has been unfortunately the passing of Loki and the birth of Atlas.

    Do you realize you just handed Chell control? Lol Now you are the child. lol She just got you to behave (meaning you do what she wants you to do). Then she will get something else that she wants. Instead of her doing what you want her to do( something she needs to learn to do) so you can give positive reinforcement to teach her correct behavior. Kinda like not playing in the toilet and ending up with possible plumbing problems! Lol, those kids can be tricky! 😉

    • @smurfmama2020
      @smurfmama2020 6 років тому +1

      mistyrain68ify I know what you mean. I used to not want to agree with that- cuz you want kids to be autonomous creative beings, and you also don’t necessarily want to show authoritarianism and too much unbalanced hierarchy of power. BUT after having done just this too many times, there is a absolutely balance we have to learn. And it isn’t easy !! Not to mention some personality types ( me) don’t like taking control and being what I perceive of as bossy and controlling But I’m a single parent and had to learn some balance.
