Just found your channel and it is a breath of fresh air. I am a fashion designer and find that at 51 y/o I’m struggling with defining my personal style which has been, in part, to other influencers trying to tell us what is in and what is out. Also my age and changing body shape has been challenging. Last year I did a no-buy year (which I documented on my channel) and this year I’m taking an even closer look at consumerism and redefining my relationship to spending (and trying to figure out my style). - It takes me a long time to find statements. Need to upgrade: belt, backpack, jeans, coat, fragrance.
- As a minimalist, inventory is my strong point! ✅
I checked my closet and realized that I have a ridiculous amount of coats and jackets, but it's because I live in cold freezing Michigan and staying warm is a huge part of my wardrobe 😅
Two things I do when I’m purchasing clothes online:
1 - check the fabrication. Certain fabrics wear better than others and so this is a big thing for me.
2 - rather than just ordering the size I think I need, I check the size chart and order based on measurements.
I swear by tailors and you hit the point! I have bought XL silk dresses, shirt dresses, trousers etc. I've had them altered to my frame because my typical S was out of stock. If I buy what I love, I'll make it fit - as long as the length is long enough. It definitely gives wealthy! I take my clothes to the same woman for dry cleaning, my husband irons my clothes because I'm guilty of walking out with wrinkly clothes since I detest ironing. I enjoyed watching this video, deffo we are wearing our clothes this year! already subscribed!
This was my confirmation today… I was at my local mall today and I didn’t purchase anything… I realized that I had something similar at home to everything that I tried on. I took photos of everything that I liked and said if I still liked it tomorrow I will go back and get it 😊 I am trying to stop repetitive shopping 😊 thanks Cookie ❤
I have never heard of a brand telling someone that they couldn’t shop there no more because they return to much😱😱.

Thanks for this. I have been working on my closet! I’ve outgrown so many things…physically with weight loss and mentally I’m in a totally different space with semi retirement! I have to keep reminding myself that it’s a process 🍪🍪🍪
Carolyn you are so right. I have a niece that is 30yrs old and does not know how to use an iron that blew my mind. She buys a bunch of cheat fabric clothing and she thinks she is fly. I learned how to wash and iron my clothing at the age of 13. Today's young women does not have a clue. But it's not always there fault because it starts at home. But I do totally agree with this content!! ❤❤❤

I appreciate all of these tips + reminders! Still working on the personal style element because I wear a uniform to work so I have an abundance of clothing and not many opportunities to wear them/ too many options when the time comes. It’s a work in progress.

I'm so glad you said clean, steam and iron your clothes...It's a popular influencer who boils my blood because she doesn't steam or iron her clothes and it makes her look unfinished...mind you she looks fabulous when her clothes are finished looking

I love these tips because it promotes being a more conscious fashionista. I think before fast fashion, there was more of an appreciation and care in being for our clothes. I've been thinking about tailoring for a long time and this video is inspiring to implement that in my clothing.

I share a closet and work a very full time shift….. my closet needs attention. I actively shop and push them in my closet. I pick off the top when getting dressed and stress over the chaos while working. 😢help. I have an idea on a plan to pull it together but just don’t have time.

I use my local dry cleaner for hem work. I am struggling to find a tailor to do more than hems. I am inexperienced in garment construction. How do I know if a tailor will do a good job or ruin my garment? Any advise? (I live in NYC)).
