Hi Andy. That’s jazz legend Larry Carlton handling the beautiful guitar work on this song. He was used on many of Steely Dan’s albums, especially the later ones. He’s known as Mr 335, named after his Gibson ES 335 guitar. The song Pretzel logic is one from SD that I think you’ll like. Also, their first big hit from their first album called Reelin In The Years. It’s a different more rockin’ SD. Keep up the good work on Zep and The Dan. ❤

I love these classic rock bands and your reactions to them but I would love to see you react to some alternative and punk rock music. Even if you don't like the songs, i would love to learn why you don't like them in your reaction. You don't have to like what I like, just like hearing your take on music. It's all good. You will love FM, Caves of Altimara ,Jack of Speed, The Fez ,God whacker which was written not long after Fagens mother passed away with Dementia and influenced the lyrics in the song apparently .There are so many great songs by Steely Dan and I cant think of one that I do not like .Enjoy your journey listening to them They are pure gold.

Not what you were anticipating? All their songs are like that. They are all unique - there 's no style template. This one seems simple/hummable on the surface once you get past the guitar solo intro, there's less jazz than you've been accustomed to, but it's impeccable. You'll also get surprised mid-song when they take a tangent you couldn't possibly have guessed at. I think they are USA's Beatles - genius level (albeit with insane levels of quality control). Roger Nichols is their George Martin. Like Gary Coleman elsewhere in the comments they're my favourites. They''re not (Aja apart) massively popular in the UK; that's fine with me; most of us are as musically dumb as door knobs. Do more Andy; you'll find it very difficult to find anything you don't like.
