Learning about a casual dragon-Satan in the first part of the episode to find the real horned, cold and miserable Satan in the Lamenter's gaol, as it should be.
The Horns are not the focal point of the Lamenter's Mask (ALL Hornsent have Horns, so that isn't something special to them); "The transformation tallies with the state of a denizen of paradise.." is probably supposed to mean "matches the state of an enlightened person". So blissful, blind sadness is somehow part of the state of mind to go beyond earthly shackles. The enemies which walk around stooped over in an odd way and wield two circular blades are Ascetics, so the whole concept of leaving behind as much of the material world to hone themselves is something the Horned Folk of the Tower seem to have as part of their culture, but the Lamenting aspect is forbidden despite its closeness to that state. (don't ask me why though)
Hello!! 👋. I’m open to mild hints/direction if I’ve already encountered a Thing and tried understanding it. (No hard and fast rule, and I try to be fluid with it?)
Firstly, the lamenter is bad, your frustration was justified. They have a gimmick fight with no explanation, give you 3 related items on the way on and make *none* of the items relevant to the gimmick. "Do more damage lol" is not a FromSoft quality gimmick. You were just setup badly for that, heavier armour would protect you from flinching so you could face tank and stunlock the original out of summoning. The unending dance you had was great for stunlocking him though, was hoping you'd get to that Secondly, everything here has horns, I'd recommend looking past the horns for everything lorewise.
