FIAT DUCATO MOTORHOME HANDBRAKE EXTENDER, WAS IT WORTH THE MONEY?

Anyone who has driven a Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer or Citroen Relay motorhome or camper van will know just how low down the handbrake is. So, is the Rare Spares and brake extender worth the money? The idea being to make life easier, so the driver doesn’t have to reach down all the way to the floor, and instead, the handbrake is much closer to the drivers hand during normal seating.
In this video, we take a look at this product, fit it and decide whether or not it’s worth the effort and the money.

I fitted one on our Ducato based Rapido A class due to the small gap between the handbrake and the ‘hump’ of the gas locker ( there is no door by the driver’s seat). It prevents you basking your hand on the hump. On our previous MH, which had a door, I didn’t have a problem. Quality is good. I don’t use the pin, there is a technique which allows you to preserve the use of the button and racket if you don’t use it.

Yes, we think it’s a great addition to the motorhome and makes driving so much easier, especially on hill starts and roundabouts. We understand that the handbrake needs to be quite low to the floor, but for those with short arms, it can be quite difficult.
Fitting it was so simple only took a few minutes as shown in the video.
