Alex Fergusons United broke the transfer record 5 times. Pep has done it once with city. You can believe the nostalgia lies about Fergie or the truth. He’s great but he needed money to do it just like any top manager does
But go and analyise the total spend per year and fergie out of all his years only out spent up to 3 or 4 times for the total transfer.
How about Aberdeen then lad?? Everyone goes quiet when that gets mentioned, no other manager could have done that, as for the spending at united, they done it within their means and didn't break any rules, not sure anyone else can say that 😂 best that's ever lived 👌

The greatest manager there was or ever will be, he experienced this crushing last minute loss of the league and did what every great manager does and goes and wins it the very next year, what’s more impressive is the squad he did it with. Man united have been a shadow of the team they used to be since he left which says it all, I don’t like Manchester United but what a manager he was.
No one outside Britain claims him to be best manager lol
@@kingkong9410 this is not true and you know it. He's well respected anywhere in the world and many football fans outside Britain see him as the best manager ever.
Certainly isn’t clear cut. Plenty of metrics point to him not being the best ever in England, let alone elsewhere. Fergie would struggle against todays city just like any huge club does. They are a different level. For most of his time Fergie competed with Blackburn, Newcastle and Arsenal. Arsenal were probably his biggest rival until Roman went to Chelsea.
Fergie was exceptional though no doubt. Bosses like him and Klopp just have something 99.9% don’t.

Everyone will obviously give him credit for the mature response he gave in this interview but the reality is this was the title Sir Alex himself gave away. His persistence in not strengthening the midfield, signing midtable quality players like Ashley Young after saying “he wants to catch Barcelona” having been humiliated by them, favouring a limited goal poacher like Chicarito, “no value in the market” nonsense, making Scholes comeback from retirement etc. This rejection of moving on & improving the squad caused the loss of title.
It was a lost season for United all round actually. They also went out in group stages of Champions League in a group that consisted Benfica, Basel and Otelul Galati. Humiliated by Athletic Bilbao home & away afterwards. He also preferred Park & even Rafael in CM to Pogba when he was ready which resulted in him leaving the club and cost United £89m. Sir Alex was too stubborn late in his career.

As a United fan I found it strange that we were 8 goals off them and our last two games were Swansea and Sunderland. We won 2-0 and 1-0. I was desperate for us to at least try to hammer them and make it interesting. Never understood the apathy from the team in that respect.
1:30 "Does your team take great credit from hanging in there with City until the very end of the season?". Erm.....no, not really. Let's not forget that this was the biggest choke in PL history. United were 8 points clear of City with 6 games to go.
Liverpool choked in 13/14 and 18/19. Don't forget it.
@@ethandraper4645 Possibly. However, neither were to the same degree as United's. In 18/19 it wasn't an end-of-season 'choke', but rather a run of relatively poor results mid-season (1 defeat and 4 draws in an 8-game spell) that did for Liverpool.
@@davidnesbit45 United bottled it no doubt. But Liverpool losing at home to Chelsea and blowing a 3-0 lead at Palace was just as bad.
I find it a bit cruel to interview him after such a disappointment.
And still went out on a high the following season.
And the next year MU won PL (MC was 2nd). Resilience.
You want to talk about a building a resilient culture at a club? He always talked about not letting losing becoming a habit, so when you lose a match, you damn sure won't lose the next one. It's why teams hated playing us after a loss. Lost the league in 2012 and ended the following season as champions... that's the kind of character this club hasn't had since he left.
