@@ub2095 was landed there in the valley on 27th of July, 2019. Then I went on a trek called Kashmir Great Lakes ( I covered 7 Great lakes of Kashmir) for 7 days. From the day1 I saw armed military persons for every 50 meters and it was scary as you know none of us really knew what was happening in the valley.There were rumors including Yasin Maliks death, a possible war with pakistan, etc. They started evacuating the tourists from 29th of July that was when they stopped Amarnath yathra. Because of this, our trek was reduced to 7 days instead of 8 and we reached our hotel in the evening, 4th of August. The hotel manager has warned us to leave Kashmir on the 4th night itself given the tension, however, we stayed there and decided to leave the next morning i.e 5th of August. So he allowed us to check-in and we took an amazing shower after 8 days and we felt so good. Then we went outside to have food around Lalchowk and Dal Lake. We were roaming and enjoyed that night till 1030 pm and came back to the hotel. Again, that night police and army guards were standing for every 10 meters and this scared us. After reaching our room, we called our family and friends and scrolled through mail since we opened it after 8 days.
I still remember clearly that I read an The Hindu article before sleeping at 11:30. The next morning we woke up at 4 and checked our phones, none of them were able to get the signal and then we realized the intensity of the problem that would be in front of us. My friend and I went outside to look for any mode of transportation to reach Srinagar airport, but for our fate there were literally no vehicles running around that morning. Whatever, at that moment we decided to pack and leave the hotel and somehow reach the airport at any cost. We waited near the bus stop for any transportation including army vehicles and after waiting for 30 minutes we fortunately found a IndiaHikes vehicle and reached the airport safely.
Actually, we booked the hotel for 3 days starting from 4th - 7th of August. You know article 370 has reduced our Kashmir plan to a single night. Though I spent 7 days in Kashmir but that was in a hillstation not touristy places.
We learned about the abrogation of the article 370 only after landing in Delhi airport on the afternoon of 5th August, 2019!!!
I just gave you the gist of what happened on the 4th and 5th of August!
It was a truly amazing experience to have! I will never forget this till my last breath!
