That absolutely is not what happened. Barry never lived in the the vicinity of the grocery store. We knew where he was going. Gable had to use the pay phone and saw Barry in line buying donuts, peanut M&M’s, either chocolate milk or orange juice. They went to the airport and had a layover in Ohare in Chicago. Gable made him run sprints in the terminal and run stairs. Passengers/business people were laughing at them. Gabe’s and Barry were getting pissed, but kept composure and focused. We used tongue depressors and never scarped into cups. I know how stories get started.

Alvarez heard the story from someone who heard the story from someone who heard the story from ... He really doesn't understand the wrestlers, the situation, or the relationships. He has what he thinks is a delightful story, but his facts are mostly wrong.
Barry Davis and his Mom disliked this.

We had a guy that was .7lbs overweight. So on the way to the Away team, he spit in a cup throughout the bus ride, and lost .7lbs in saliva. It was fucking disgusting. Imagine half of those red party cups filled with someone's spit.
Coach thought it'd be funny if he drank it back up. Just thinking of that makes me want to vomit.
@@777Skeptic Our 106 pounder in high school was probably 115-120 soaking wet. Felt bad for him on bus rides when he'd spit in the cup just to cut 2 or 3 pounds. But hey, it's wrestling. 🤷♂️
@@Codemeisterrr Our guy dumped his cup of saliva on the sidewalk. When the meet was over and we walked back to the bus, I nearly slipped on his frozen saliva.
