- I Bought the CHEAPEST Leica Lens on the Internet! | Leica Elmar 90mm f/4 LTM Review
In today's video, I give my review of the Leica Elmar 90mm f/4 LTM lens. The Leica 90 mm f/4 lens is by far the cheapest Leica lens available and I found the cheapest one on the internet! This lens is a really great lens especially for the money. I think this lens never became highly desirable because people who shoot with rangefinder cameras don't typically shoot with telephoto lenses. Also the f/4 aperture isn't very mind blowing on paper. But this lens has many things going for it because of its design build quality and optical quality. I hope you found my review of the Leica Elmar 90mm f/4 LTM lens helpful. I would love to hear your thoughts if you've shot with this lens!

What’s your favorite budget lens? COMMENT BELOW⬇️
I think the Helios 44-2 still tops my list of budget lenses haha would be nice to try a Leica grade one though
@@Bonsees yes I love my Helios as well! Do it!

Industar 5cm LTM. Cheers, AD
Many years ago, the 50 Summitar used to be a "budget Leica" lens. Or if you are not a Wetzlar purist, Canon 50/1.4 or 1.8 LTM are excellent.
The Elmar 9cm used to be one of Leitz most popular lenses - apart from the Elmar 5cm and 3,5 cm. It was the "Portrait lens par excellence." The lenght of time it was in production is a tell-tale sign. There must be a difference in appreciation between Europe and the US. A Leica-user since 1968.
Awesome comment! Interesting point, there might be a huge difference between what people used in European markets vs the American market.
Hey mate, really great review! Man now you got me looking this lens up lol.
Thanks so much!! I’d love to see you review it as well!
haha loved the shout out. Gotta try some Jordanian coffee! Great video man.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. And yes! That coffee is very unique!
Greetings from Pembroke , Pembrokeshire,Wales Uk. Great presentation Reimann. I have this very lens and shoot with a Leica m240
with good results. Also with Minolta lenses. Cheers!!!!
Hey that’s my name! Haha thank you for the kind words! Glad you are enjoying this same lens!
That lens is also modular- you can unscrew the lens portion from the focussing barrel.
Interesting! I didn’t know that!
Thanks for this video. I have a Canon LTM 90mm f/1.9 which seems a little larger than your lens. It's a little hard to focus with the frame lines, so I usually use it around f/2.8 or f/4.
No problem! Whenever I find something good is also a good deal, I’m more than happy to make a video sharing my findings haha
Hello, interesting video you made about this lens. Bravo! I have the same lens and I use it on my Leica IIIG, cool. Cheers from Italy, AD
PS may I ask the title of the background music? I like it a lot. Thank you.
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I don’t remember the title of the music, but I got it from the UA-cam audio library!
@@ReimannPembroke Thank you :-)
Any fog at all will deteriorate the image. Have it cleaned
You got it backwards, this was a VERY popular lens, more sold than any Leitz screwmount lens except to 50/3.5 Elmar. It is inexpensive because so many still exist and the current demand for a 90/4 is limited. So a great buy.But for a Canon P a black and chrome Canon 100/3.5 would be a better fit; better image quality, smaller and similar price. BTW the 90/4 Elmar is a long focus lens, NOT a telephoto.
I agree. Love the 90/4 elmar (have 3 in LTM, one in M), but the canon 100/3.5 (have 3) beats it in all respects (faster, lighter, less expensive, sharper); the chrome/black version is easiest to find in good condition.
Would favor an Elmar 90/4 over an older Canon Serenar 100/4, because the Serenar is too heavy. On a real Canon you should use a Canon lems rather than a Teutonic wannabe…
I want to know about yoru mane .. how do you maintain? do you allow female hand brush or aduse? does thr turkish coffee granules get into your beard? . you should with a cool leice .. you need to get the Leica Colour Style 23 / 100mm its incredible
Those are some really nice images!
Thank you! I was pretty happy with them!
Got an M4 sometimes i Miss haveing a lightmeeter on me but i make it Work tho
I’m sure a light meter is nice, but I’m fine using a light meter app!
Thank you for reviewing.
You’re welcome!
Leica needs to rerelease this lens with new multicoated as they did with their 28mm f5.6
That would be super cool!
Which one do you recommend collapsible one or non collapsible Elmar 90mm?
I have not used the collapsible Elmar lens so I can’t speak on it. But I do like my mom collapsible one if you can find a clean one
90$ 😦 almost the button for the soft realease costs more than this lens. insane. but your example bidder look really really promising. 👍 maybe I'll buy one too and then say that I also own Leica lenses. lol
Right?! It’s so cheap for anything Leica! If you need a short telephoto, I highly recommend it!
Do you know what adapter I would need to use this with a Leica M6?
Yep! Just an LTM to M Mount adapter!
I just bought this at b&j camera store
Nice!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have
And I thought the 50mm 2.5 was pretty cheap.. haha
This one is a steal for sure!
