Eegah has this sense to it where you can feel the 50s turning into the 60s. All of Arch Hall's crooning is 50s style, but the opening credits and the music behind them are really psychedelic for a movie made in 1962. I always loved that.
For no reason I'd like to remind the room that Robert the father character is also the director, Tom the teen boy character is his real life son, and Roxy the teen girl was the woman the director was seeing at the time.
Crow is quite knowledgeable when it comes to automobiles. This is the 4th MST3K episode I have seen where he either corrects, or points out the vehicle on screen. I don't know why, but this makes me a little proud.
I love all of their knowledge. So many great references. The various riffs that come from other movies or songs or calling out an actor for looking like another. Solid stuff.
I normally just get chuckles from an episode of MST3K, but this is the first time I got belly laughs throughout the whole movie, definitely one of the funniest episodes.
In my early days of MST3K, I used to think that this was a boring episode (I just wanted more sci fi monster movie type of films). But years later, I think it’s become one of my favorites. Truly lives up to the “so bad it’s good” genre.
One of my all-time favorite eps! I'm a sucker for beauty and the beast-type stories, even the cheap, poorly-made ones. I love at 3:58 how Crow is shaking his head and looking disappointed that they didn't use a real pig.
"He's been there since the beginning of time and he's only drawn three pictures?!?" This line gets me everytime, I just don't know why. Apparently Eegah is easily amused.
Scripturegirl1990 jeez you don't know what "shtemlo" is? That's cave man kindergarten stuff!!! Ha ha...I think Eegah uses it to mean sleep. But like everything else in this retarded movie, it's quite unclear. As unclear as how that hideous blonde guy got a part in anything. He's fugly!!! I'd rather make out with Eegah and shave the dad.
I love crow's "Well she can snap in and outta consciousness can't she?" I've never understood in old movies why women pass out at the slightest provocation, lol. Like nobody does that in real life.
It's so strange how even some of the most popular actors in history have landed roles in bad movies at some point in their careers. For example, James Best starred in "The Killer Shrews", Ron Howard was in "Village Of The Giants", Peter Graves was in two MST3K-riffed movies "The Beginning Of The End" and "Parts The Clonos Horror", Michael Landon was in "I Was A Teenage Werewolf", Raul Julia was in "Overdrawn At The Memory Bank", etc.
Peter Graves is in at least 4 episodes he’s also a Viking in “Viking Women Vs the Sea Serpent” Most epic walk on in an MST3K has to be Clint Eastwood as an extra in “Revenge of the Creature” if you blink you miss him. He’s a lab tech holding a monkey.
Don't mention that black lagoon sequel, especially when we got a character who became so jerkish and a bully when everyone else "came back to life".@@ALifeWellSteved
My biggest pet peeve is that Werewolf movie isn't considered bad, it's a legendary well known b-movie to the point where numerous tv shows make episode title that parody that movie's title, and ever since then, I'm always reminded of this show because of it. Also, The Killer Shrews has some good reception, Even Frank Zappa loves that movie.
The motel in this movie always charmed me: the bright colors, the pool, so 1960s. The room with the oven in the living room was actually where the guy who played Mr. Miller lived, which could be why it looks more like a home than a motel room.
@@SpamEggSausage I think it's just that the whole space is just one big room, like some studio apartments are, including the one I live in now. There's an oven in my living room too!
He also played a Frankenstein monster on "The Monkees" and "The Hardy Boys" ("Keep this under your hat, we don't want to scare anyone."), also the construction site boss who gets a nail stuck in his head due to horseplay in "Happy Gilmore" and Vlad, the barbarian who likes to collect ceramic unicorns in "Tangled".
Eegahshaka-Eegahshaka (I can't stop this feelin'). A reference to the song HOOKED ON A FEELING the version played and sung by BLUE SUEDE. B.J. THOMAS also did it.
(34:20) "Poor shovel; didn't ask to be in this movie." Don't worry; the shovel later got itself a better agent, and was eventually able to play a pivotal role in the finale of "Psycho 2."
Just discovered this episode, and it now ranks up there with my favourite joel episodes, including Operation double 007, Earth vs the Spider and the Crawling Hand
I like how you can kind of tell what from the movie gave the idea for the Invention Exchange, for example how the girl screaming 'Wheeee!" in the dune buggy, and their comment "Is there a pig in there with them?" was pretty clearly the inspiration for the Porkerina.
Probably favorite moment to where I can't stop laughing is Joel and the bots reaction to Tom finally getting slapped by Eegah! And the line "Ow, right in the area."
Its a random one but one of my all time favorites was "OH Eegah, I thought you were . . . EHHHHHH!" The way they rip on the blond dude was just merciless!
Anyone else look up all the actors from these movies on IMDB after watching an episode? Sometimes it's surprising. Like, the young guy from Master Ninja went on to have a pretty impressive TV directing career.
17:44 Tom and Crow humming the M.A.S.H. Theme and joel says " i thought we promissed never to do that again" ? I dont remember when did they promiss not to do that? They do the same thing on monster a gogo ? I wonder if people got butthurt and complained?
The "porkarina" sound on soundtracks is actually a bass harmonica. There are videos on youtube, but they're not well known. I hadn't heard of them, either, until a few months ago, looking for Tommy Morgan clips.
Gobbie is right; Arch Hall, Jr. was excellent in The Sadist. I think it was his best and certainly his most believable performance. In the real world, he's a pilot, musician, and a very nice man.
21:41 & 26:45 - believe-it-or-else but Marilyn "Roxy" Manning was NOT a former Playmate! She was a receptionist in a medical office while doing this movie!

"Eegah chaka Eegah Eegah"
"I can't stop this feeling!" XD
"Honey why do we have an oven in the living room?"
(Later with Eegah)
"Hey, check it out, there's an oven in the living room!"
Thank you! I was going through trying to figure out where that was
3:57 Crow's "We didn't?!" with a disappointed head shake is why Trace is the best Crow
Who else just loves the opening credit sequence to Eegah with the smoke, wind, weird signs, skulls, and trippy music? So cool!

Wherever Richard Kiel is, I know he's watching out for snakes.
It's the bullets that did more damage!
That's why he wore that T-Shirt,
'Guns don't kill people, I do'.

He does this with planes and space shuttles too!

This is probably my favorite Joel episode.
1:06:02 - "Run kids, run!"
"Dad, don't layer your voice like that!"
LMAO!!
Far and away my favorite Joel episode, but it's rarely brought up on a list of favorites.
This is the debut of the whirleybird model on television. It's a Bell dude.
Also imdb has MST3K in its trivia section.
I normally just get chuckles from an episode of MST3K, but this is the first time I got belly laughs throughout the whole movie, definitely one of the funniest episodes.
every mst3k episode had at least one comment about "definitely one of the funniest" lol
see MST3k's take on The Girl in Lovers Lane and Mitchell (Joel's last episode), also hilarious like eegah.
For me, it was Space Mutiny. The timing and delivery on the nicknames is too good.
@@Damaged7 Out of all the goofy names, "Roll Fizzlebeef" is still engrained in my mind.
Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders is pure gold! Every line in it kills me but I also have a soft spot for The Leech Woman and The Touch of Satan.
Seems like every time there's a closeup of Arch Hall Jr's face Joel and the bots respond with "Ewwww"
There's a reason for that.
lol "like a cabbage patch Elvis" made me laugh for a good five minutes
LOL, that was my favorite part too.
Great line! Lol

46:35 "I guess it can't hurt me."
Tom: *doodily doodily doo* It hurt me!
Every time Tom or Crow pull that gag it makes me burst out laughing.
The "tequila" bit always crack me up
For some reason, I lost it at Joel's delivery of ''Sure, four, whatever'' XD
"Have you seen Andalusian Dog?"
Be warned, 'Un Chien Andalou' is a real eye-opener.
For THAT one, I was tempted to hit "like" many times more than once.
The "watch out for snakes" line was delivered by Harpo Marx. They were filming on his land.
I’m guessing they had lots of snakes there...
Harpo talked?
WHAT?!
Same energy as, "Look out for the train."
@@SpamEggSausage Yes. But not this. I just made it up.
"Sorry about my face...."
LoL i use this line so many times and it just goes over their uncultured heads...
I also use Crow’s line from The Beast of Yucca Flats: “That’s a hard face; that’s a face that challenges you.”
Youth these days ...
