  • After 1.5 years and 25,000km driven, the Hyundai Tucson bids goodbye to the evo India fleet. Having driven it back to our base in Pune after scaling Umling La, the Tucson has been a regular part of the fleet for us and Aatish takes it down our favourite road to tell you how it fares after such a long stint where it did numerous road trips to places close by and far off. He talks about what makes the Tucson a value-for-money SUV in its segment and why it is highly recommended if you're looking to buy one from that segment.

    Sold our GLC and bought a Tucson 2WD last year. Driven 20k km and it has been a fantastic experience so far. It's a compelling package for someone who wants "everything" i.e. power, family comfort, reasonable maintenance, etc. except for brand value.

    What is the mileage for both diesel and petrol versions. I last checked on Internet petrol was around 8 kmpl and diesel around 11 kmpl. Is this what we should expect in long run in India ?

    I own a Tucson hybrid here in Canada. Such a lovely vehicle to drive. Initially i was struggling to choose between Toyota RAV4 and Tucson as Rav4 is the king of the segment with superior efficiency. After the test driving these 2 i got sold for the ride quality of the hyundai. I wish there is a Diesel available here. Sadly no.

    Did you guys have any DPF issues especially at high altitudes? BS6 engines have been a nightmare on the hills.

    • @SM-mt8pz
      @SM-mt8pz 3 місяці тому +2

      20k km ran in 1 year and no DPF issues. Do note that the car is used frequently for long trips so, highway running is guaranteed.

    • @evoIndia
      @evoIndia  3 місяці тому +3

      Except for a DPF error light showing up, the car didn't give any other trouble. The light went off once we descended into lower altitude.

    I have 3 questions:
    1.) How are the brakes in emergency situation? Is the ABS as sensitive as other Hyundai/KIA cars? On my Verna, sometimes brakes totally give up due to sensitive ABS and I have to depress and press brake multiple times to start feeling substantial brakes. It is the single most critical issue which is keeping me from buying Tucson.
    2.) How comfortable is car at 140-150 KMPH? In my Verna 2019 SX Petrol, I can cruise at 150 comfortably all day long. There are almost negligible lateral movements. How does the Tucson handle this in terms of lateral movements?
    3.) Did you guys see any DPF issues at higher altitudes?

    • @evoIndia
      @evoIndia  3 місяці тому +3

      1.The brakes lack feel but stop well. ABS doesn't intrude too aggressively.
      2. 140-150kmph is over the legal speed limit in India, but at a 120, the Tucson feels very composed and confident.
      3. A DPF error light did show up however the car didn't give any other trouble and the light went off once we descended into lower altitude.

    The real bigshot suggestion
    Will be to bring
    i20 N 1.5 turbo in india.
    In 15lkh
    It has .launch control
    . Better transmission
    . Insane exhaust
    . Insane suspension
    . Insane tyres
    . Adas
    These are very unique performance and experience upliftment features absent in indian hithatches
    In 15lkh.

    Quite disappointed with the rear BOSE speakers. Only rear ones btw. And yes, I have checked the "quiet mode" setting which is turned off. Have also adjusted the equalizer to give as much loudness as possible. But let's just say that a 3 lakh Suzuki car has better loudness (vocals, treble, and base) in the back than the 40 lakh Tucson.
    Funnily enough, the front speakers are just AMAZING. The rear speakers are crap. As if they are entirely missing. There is no volume at all. If we increase the volume then the front passengers find it too loud and the rear pax find it okay.

    • @abhinrsv
      @abhinrsv 20 днів тому

      Also, there is no BOSE badging for the rear speakers in the Tucson. But the Creta has them. And this is a worldwide Tucson issue, not just in India.

    I own the Tucson Signature Diesel AT (2WD) since 11 months now…
    Done 18000km.
    *** The only thing i’m not happy with the car is the HIGH BEAM headlight performance… its pathetic above 80kmph speed. ***
    Also, India has almost no OEM accessories option for Tucson…
    Hyundai Official MOBIS website has just added Tucson this month otherwise it was not even there in the option but still you can only get Cushions & Sunblind…
    3D all weather Mats are not available for Tucson till today…
    PS: Tucson has a complimentary Service & Maintenance for 3years or 30,000km so I’m only paying for Wheel Alignment/Balancing currently which is great.. 👍🏻

    I got my Tucson (diesel) in March '23 and I've driven it for 40,000 kms already. Covered ghat sections, expressways, city traffic and even a bit of farm use.
    Not even a single issue. Beast of a car, beautiful refinement, good dynamics. The mileage is a bit on the lower side and as you mentioned it does tend to sit a bit with full occupancy but no complains.
