Magnificent short film showing Londoners commuting in 1940. For London Underground enthusiasts it includes rare footage of the experimental 1938 stock. A little gem of a film.
Dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you are bored like me atm then you can stream all the latest movies on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my gf lately =)
When London Transport was a great thing. Can you imagine today's Transport For London doing all this during wartime conditions ? They'd be too bust arguing about who paid for what ! As for why they didn't stick with the iconic red or postwar silver livery for trains, I'll never know. Modern graffiti - proof twinpack paint'd surely sort that ! ?
Great stuff . It was hands on and old school in those days with British workers who knew what they were doing and not shirking about and having tea breaks all day long and not one schvartza in sight

A world long gone. They had no idea what was coming.
@Frankie Nolor No such implication, not better just different and long gone.
@@frankienolor880 Are we not allowed to have views on immigration?
Interesting to see how few people bothered taking their gas masks with them. Great little documentary.
I can admit it remains widely unchanged to this day.
3:30 That's a 1935 stock!
There is a film that I watch on London trains today but I don't know what it is called.
Great video

nice film
no fast food outlets in those years
A slightly repetitive feature. This subject was revisited by the BTF unit producing a masterpiece. All That Mighty Heart
All up the spout through greed and stupidity in 2020.
Is this Harry Enfield?
photography by w.luff....whats in a name eh.
Back when it was properly funded
And much of its operating costs were covered by fares revenue and needed little public subsidy
I've always been fascinated by transport systems but seeing all those people reminds me that I hate London.

Rubbish there was just as many skivvers
So little obesity then
Food rationing
Food rationing

Lovely classic propaganda
Even the milkman would be mugged today 😢
