    I never thought about doing it wet. I usually use SnoSeal, and just put it on pretty heavy and use anhair dryer to liquify it and get it to soak in. I do it like 2*/year.

    I always heated boots with hair drier after cleaning to help dry the water and warm the leather then worked in snoseal. Always good to see other techniques

      fordrac1ng81 I agree with your assessment. Logic suggests the water molecules are filling the pores in the leather so there's no room for the waterproofing agent to penetrate unless it was introduced simultaneously with the water.
      I alway wash mine, let them dry, then heat them with a hair dryer to open the pores. Then I apply waterproofing in layers, heating each application with the hair dryer to liquefy the agent so it can soak in to every crack and crevice, until the leather won't absorb any more.
      This process has always served me well...to each their own I suppose.

    Good tip. I just got myself some expensive hunting boots and learning to take care of them because I don't think I'll buy another one of these within 5 years

    What brand of boots do you recommend? So many on today's market are not worth doing this to they are just throwaways and buy another pair due to sole construction and cheap stitching.

    I've done this exact process for years. I've always wondered if the scent of the waterproofing product is a red flag to wild game...what is your opinion, Steven?

    It's much simpler than this. Buy Kenetrek's water proofing boot wax and apply liberally and frequently

    This is NOT the proper way to condition leather. Do not soak the boots in water. If you do this prior to applying the leather conditioner, the conditioner will just end of sitting on the surface of the leather rather than soaking into the pores. It’s common sense really. Probably why he ends up having to do this every week lol.

    • @Jimimac73
      @Jimimac73 7 місяців тому

      Funny that the British army teaches to wet the leather first before conditioning and waterproofing and they have a little bit more knowledge and experience than you!😂
      What's more interesting and indicative of a dullard is they only ever criticise without any offer of a contrary remedy 🤡
