Final Fantasy VII - Learning Beta from Midgar Zolom at level 16

I used some awesome strats to learn the enemy skill "Beta" from the Midgar Zolom at my first encounter with it at level 16. You're usually supposed to catch a chocobo and ride it across to avoid an encounter with the Zolom, but killing one early and getting the Beta skill is incredibly useful. It's surprisingly easy, it just takes a little bit of careful planning.

how do ypu survive the beta? it does 1200 damage to me when the snake does it, so it allways kills me and i was level 18 average when i tried

Put your entire party in the back row. That will reduce the damage you take from its attacks, You'll also need to have at least one party member with the Sadness status, probably the one with the Enemy Skill materia. The Sadness status effect reduces damage by 30% as well as halves the rate that your limit gauge fills up. You can use Tranquilizers to inflict the status effect on your party. If you have the Elemental materia, linking it with fire in the armor of the one holding the Enemy Skill materia will also help keep them alive. Other than that, just keep your health near max as much as you can.
