I am not a fan of pilsner type beers like the ones critiqued here. And I rarely drink beers from continental Europe, being partial to English ales. However, I was dismayed to see that Heineken modified the logo of St. George beer when it took over. The change is subtle. Still, it corrupted the history and the culture. The change was on the shield that the saint carries. It is a European shield, not the Ethiopian original. I hope they restore the old logo, even if they update it. St. George is the patron saint of Ethiopia, and he has been long before Europeans adopted him as their patron saint. It is not the place to go into the history, but St. George is native to Ethiopia. His lore goes back to the pre-Christian period, and he has much to do with the mountainous topography of the land. All lands that adopted him as their saint wholly or partially conform to the lore.
