One thing people are not aware is that Drive Impact on block can drain you. So basically if someone is in the corner, got barely any Drive gauge left and block a Drive Impact, not only he would be empty of Drive Gauge, but that person will be stun INSTANTLY...
Great video. Very helpful to people like me who hate drive impact. Drive rush is cool and stylish but DI.. I feel just a way for low level players to get an easy hit. But wait it’s up to me to be ready for it and counteract so.. whatever I guess. Thank you for this video.
What sets Vesper aside of other Master players with tutorials is that not only he does his tutorials with detail explanations, but he goes and shows the examples on what hes explaining or would want you to see. Thats why he's my go to PRO Master tutor. Just cant explain it any better than Vesper 👌
It's also useful to know that some buttons that aren't special cancellable can still recover in time to DI back if you meaty with it. I've been getting a lot of mileage with Marisa stand medium kick as a meaty after some knockdowns where on normal hit it links to crouch jab, on counter/punish counter she gets bigger links and if they DI I get the entire recovery of stand MK to recognize and DI back. Important to lab out your character specific options so you can be ready.

This was really useful. I kept going for kens running mk on the opponent wake up after DP. Kept getting hit by DI tho. Think I'll mix it up with some lights now
I'm late to this game and climbing thru silver and ran into a Ken 4000 lp ahead of me who kept punishing my DI with his even when he was landing from jump kicks. Then he had combos that basically took 1/2 my hp and just had to do it twice.
i think a problem with us older players...with all the lights and colours i end up watching the DI hit me LOL like a magpie i see something shiny, then after i get hit im like...man i should have countered that hahahaha thanks for the vid, yeah just good muscle memory is what i need.

Worth mentioning that if you press for example during wake up jab jab or a cancellable normal with drive impact awareness , mostly of the time if opponent don't DI and you hit them, you don't have the time to correctly cancel that norma in special because you can't switch your focus . Or it's only me ?

I really hate how you can jumpkick a DI, attack AGAIN and THEN throw a winning DI. Or jab twice then DI. I've seen people pull some kind of DR combo then DI counter. Makes me not want to DI at all.
I mean DI really shouldn't be your default gameplan, you use it sparingly, or reaction and/or when you have a read that you opponent will do committal attacks (like non-cancellable normals or slow specials)
The game is good, but the way people play every time I get into a match people are running away they definitely don’t make the game fun soft players acting like they getting hit in real life
Drive impact, drive rush, drive parry, drive cancel drive drive drive - why did they overcomplicated this game so much? Even Daigo created his own fighting stick to be able perform combos. This game is dead already because of these retarded annyoing mechanics and feet fetish designers. Waiting for MK 1. SF6 is a huge disaster.
I haven't played SF since 2 and figured this stuff was in the other games. Like I used to pop into an arcade occasionally and then get clobbered by some asshole who knew all the moves in newer versions when they added supers.

Ive got a bad habit of over using sweep so I need to learn to avoid that and switching up to avoid getting hit with the DI

important to note that parrying DI in the corner will prevent you from being hit with wall splat

3:11 I thought block string into DI results in a Lock? No?
Only if there is no "gap" in between. So if there is room for the opponent to press DI as well then there is no Lock.
