This week I'm sharing with you a really versatile butterfly design. If you're short of time, you can make just the wings with just one balloon and even adding the extra balloon for the body doesn't take too long. This is a great design for anyone just starting out or looking to build confidence with their balloon modelling. It's a fun design to add to balloon flowers and works well with spring time and Easter displays. I hope you like it. Remember to leave me a comment to let me know what you think.
Your faces are the best!!! Your sure have a steady hand too. But those finishing outline in black, just takes it to the cute factor 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thank you for sharing your cudeii
Thank you Debbie - it's just practice. I'm really glad you like my faces and designs. I really appreciate your comments - helps to keep me motivated. Thank again, Melanie
I'm a complete newbie, I've made one baloon dog in my life, quick question: When making twists I am always thinking the damn thing is going to pop, how to get over that? Even watching you make those twists was ... like sitting on pins!
Great to hear from you. Yes, I do understand and sometimes they do pop! It's all about managing the air in the balloon and if you feel the balloon starting to bulge or feel tight, give the balloon a squeeze to soften it. I go into more detail in my series for beginners. Here's the link to the first video in the series which is a pirate sword. Hope it helps ua-cam.com/video/O1PUJ8aTK40/v-deo.html
Oh Melanie, this is such a terrific design!!! It is so easy to remember. Your Sharpie art is AMAZING!! I have an idea for a tutorial....Drawing different animal faces??? Maybe, we shall see. Thank you so much for sharing. Cheers!! from Canada xo
Hi Lynn. Great to hear from you. I'm so glad you like this design. My husband is laughing in the background at the thought of me doing a tutorial on drawing animal faces - if you could see my sketchbook of ideas for balloon designs that I carry around with me, you would understand his amusement! Big love from Derbyshire to you all in Canada. Take care, Melanie
Hi Lynette. Thank you so much for your comment. I'm really glad you like my butterfly design. Hello from Derbyshire to you all in California. Take care, Melanie
This is so sweet! Impossible not to smile at this butterfly ^^ What do you do when the ink doesn't come out well? It happens to me sometimes that the stroke doesn't have full coverage after a while of twisting.
Hi Lilja. I'm really glad you like my butterfly design. Yes, the nibs of the white paint pens do need reloading, so I tend to press the nib onto the back of my non-dominant hand to get the paint flowing into the nib. You don't get the same type of problem with the Sharpie pens, but you do need to make sure the white paint is fully dry before using the Sharpies over the top of the white paint - otherwise it ruins your Sharpie. I hope this helps. Take care, Melanie
