    Great video guy's. The 7wood seems to work although I would be worried in the windy conditions you face down where you play. Into the wind any 7wood is just going to balloon up and go nowhere.If you do decide on a 7wood, I would definitely go and be fitted properly. I know that's not cheap but it is definitely money well spent. I'd be inclined to think that an adjustable 3/4 hybrid with the correct shaft for you would be a better option....Also talk to your PGA Pro's as they are the ones who will really know what will suit you. Good luck and a very" Happy Christmas" to all the team there....

      Hi Frank I seriously struggle with hybrids and I don’t know why. And the reason I have been tempted into a 7 wood is because of the amount of people suggesting that I should do.

      @@BIGOGGIEGOLF I know John and also people really mean well and try and help and that's why I said talk to your pro's because they will look at your swing and they have a knowledge of shafts that you would't believe and they will be the best to help you.There is a lot more to shaft technology than regular stiff and extra stiff which is all you see when you go to a shop. They could probably fit you for a shaft in your 7 wood with a kick point that would bring the flight down to manage the wind.Shafts are a very complicated item in their own right. Most problems with hybrids are down to shaft as well. Shaft has to be matched to your swing speed.I should say as well I am not a pro, I'm an 8hc but I have in the past caddied for a pro for a number of years which is where I get the little knowledge I have.

    As a certified club fitter for a number of years, I would humbly suggest that sticking to a single brand only matters if it matters to you. That is, some folks find it difficult to look down at the aesthetics of different club head designs, and thus choose to go with one brand (or at least with club heads that have a similar shape and color). If that is the case, I would try each brand through the set (e.g. driver, 3 wood, 7 wood, etc) and decide which brand you like best over all. Assuming you are not bothered by the aesthetic differences brand to brand, then I'd argue you are in a more ideal situation. Simply try all the clubs and choose the best club in each category. You might be surprised how well you hit a driver from one brand and how poorly you hit their fairway woods. It's not at all uncommon for folks to end up with a different brand in their driver, 3 wood, and 7 wood/hybrids. That's the beauty of fitting. Good luck!

    Down to you & what you feel happiest with John! Being honest, I’m a function over form & get the job done guy, so I have a TS3 driver, Cobra 3 wood, 818hybrids, Ping irons & wedges, Scotty putter! Never had a problem mixing clubs, my last matched woods & irons Wilson Sam Snead’s 50 years ago! If you prefer the continuity though try a 7 with different shafts/get fitted for a match with your current woods! Btw, if you decide to go for an up to date Ping, the G425 is out in the new year so there MAY be deals on the G410!😉

    If you like the look and feel of a club you will play better. A matched set of irons is important, but the others can be various brands. It's all about what you like. Knowing your cut off point from long irons to hybrid/fairway clubs is useful and of course your gapping. A short hitter tends to get top heavy in the bag, too many long clubs, where a long hitter usually carried more wedges. Half a set can also be a useful trial to find out what clubs we really need in the bag e.g. Driver, 7 wood 6i/8i/PW SW putter. Good luck.

    • @BIGOGGIEGOLF
      @BIGOGGIEGOLF  4 роки тому

      Brilliant advice Chris. I think confidence is key for me. If I feel that a club will work than I will use it happily regardless of whether in reality it does or not. But once I have a club on my bag that I struggle with, it might as well not be there anymore.

    Whilst I generally prefer Cobra through my bag, I do have Cleveland wedges as they worked really well for me and I now have a Lynx 4 iron to try out. So find the club that works best for you and your swing, the sticker on the head doesn't automatically mean the club will work with you.

    7 Wood, regular shaft will do the trick for you. Get all your woods fitted at the same time if you can. Get head and shaft combinations that work best, don’t worry about brand consistency. Brand wise Ping or Callaway probably have the best custom fit options.

    The only thing i would add is manufacturers do make their own shafts or source shafts from the same place. It makes sense that if you get fitted for a wood that all your other woods are from the same manufacturer so that the shafts come from the same family. It's more likely you will get a whole set of woods that will suit you.
    You wouldn't mix and match a set of irons from different manufacturers with different shafts.

    • @BIGOGGIEGOLF
      @BIGOGGIEGOLF  4 роки тому +1

      So are you saying that as I am also thinking maybe a new driver and a mini driver next season, that I should match all three.

    7 Wood is a great idea for your Bag, but go with whatever works best for you. Until someone pays for your clubs or provides them ex-gratis I would advise you to be Brand agnostic. Just because one Brand makes a driver that works for you doesn't mean that their 7Wood will work, chose each club on it's merits not on it's Brand.
    In saying all that personally I would try a Ping 7Wood, as they usually make very forgiving Woods.
