For the full recovery story in detail, go to our podcast and listen to the “man with a rifle in city limits” episode. I don’t carry a camera with me when I’m knocking for retrieval permission(we just film from the car) and a lot of the drama happened off camera. The clips we show are what we have. The podcast was the only way for us to get the story to y’all in its entirety. Happy hunting fellas. Kansas episode dropping soon!

Long story short. Buck got hit high and one lung. Couldn’t find it but 30 mins after the shot lee got a call from a buddy who said someone they knew saw the buck jump into the river. They go back in the morning. Lee gets permission from a home owner to go retrieve/finish off the deer. As lee is walking to it he hears guys out yell out they see a huge buck on shore and to get a gun, as doing so they must have got their throttle stuck and almost run the buck over. As this is happening, lee is still in the woods watching this unfold and not sure what to do. Lee decides to call the came warden to figure out what to do. The guys didn’t have a gun and finally get themselves unstuck and head off to presumedly get a gun to finish off the buck and take it. As Lee is on the phone, he heads back to the truck and the home owner who gave him permission starts flipping out saying it’s not deer season and that lee is a poacher. The home owner then calls the cops. Cops and game warden show up and clear lee saying he’s okay. Lee then has to get permission from the home owner to finish off the deer and thankfully says yes after all that mess. Lee finished the deer off but was unable to retrieve the deer because of the steep hill. So they move the deer and cover it up so other people don’t see the deer. Lee calls his buddy catman and they were able to get the buck from a boat. Long story but a crazy one. Listen to the podcast

The point about the animal coming first and video second is spot on. I don't watch you videos just to see the kill shot of an animal, I watch to hear the story of that animal and the pursuit of it. You guys always tell a great story in you video, keep on doing that, respect the animals, and you'll continue to grow.

They’re hunting in peoples back yard…get it. They are not in the wild. They are hunting little strips of timber between houses. The deer have no other choice but to move through there. It’s not hard. Apply for an urban “city” tag, get permission and even you can do it too. All of those bucks were killed in peoples back yard, not on 58,000 acres of public land.

How is that deer meat still good, super hot weather and a next day track, no shot that meat isn’t full of bacteria! I passed on a deer early this season as temps in NY were close to 80 if not a few degrees warmer. I’m curious, how do people take care of their deer in hot weather? I do not have access to a meat locker so hanging in a refrigerated room is not in the cards!!

  • @houseadams4841

    I was going to say….
A clean, high percentage shot is much much more important than getting it on camera.
But I don’t film my hunts… So I don’t know all that goes into it.
But I know doing all you can to ensure a fast, ethical kill is a large portion of what hunting should be about.
But… we’re human. Humans make mistakes. Learn from it and move on.

Man, if this is goona be the trend that you suck people in with the title and then they invest themselves into watching the video and then you more or less cliffhanger it by making people go to a podcast because that's what everyone seems to be doing to be a part of the trending cool people's club then I'm gonna unsubscribe and stop watching your videos. If you can't figure out how to edit a video whereas the timeline of all said accounts in a story can't be fit in to over a half hour video then you need to get out of the video profession. That whole dice game could have EASILY been cut out of the production and nobody would have cared at all. There were so many opportunities to edit and you elected to take a poor shot, one that wasn't on camera even, and then probably the most important part of the whole story (the recovery) is COMPLETELY LEFT OUT and then we're expected to go and find a frickin' podcast and listen through who knows how long of non related talk just to HEAR how it panned out. Bottom line, it should have been in the video and stop click baiting your audience into checking out your new podcast project for views/listens. If you take an irresponsible shot on a deer like that then you owe it to the animal and your audience to visually show how it unfolded after the arrow took flight. SMH.

No this is a one time thing. I don’t go waving a camera around when talking to someone for retrieval permission so a lot of what happened with the drama wasn’t captured on camera except for what we showed. The podcast was the only way to get the story to you guys in its entirety

@@SeekOneProductions fair enough. I hope it isn't a trend. I mean, I've listened to the pod without having to find out what the outcome of a video was and have enjoyed it. I like y'all's videos. Some of the best content on UA-cam. So when I dedicate a half hour of my time to watch it I like having some sort of resolve/closure. But understandable on this particular situation and thanks for the explanation. Best of luck the rest of the season and Bod Bless you and the crew.

Man guys, I can't believe you go through the work to hang the climbing sticks up the tree and use a saddle! You have a way better chance and range with a stand. You take away so many opportunities with a saddle. I can't watch, sorry guys

7:29 do you guys not see that there is a house right behind your archery target? You should have the cops called on you. You gonna kill someone’s kid or something. Even having dude that it ain’t his equipment shoot. Stand at the fence and shoot at your own damn house at least! But you don’t know if you gonna have an equipment failure and launch one in the sky on accident. You need a safe range where there ain’t nothing beyond your target. Do better.

Please make the deer MORE IMPORTANT than the video!! I would much rather you make a good shot that see a bad recovery. < p.s. "oh wretched man that I am who will save me from this body of death? Praise be to God for Jesus Christ our Lord!!!

I love how you open up with a prayer I hunted crossbow season in ky and I hunted opening day and a few days after and never once prayed but I went in a day I wasn’t planning on hunting due to a gut feeling and ended up praying as soon as I got settled in the blind and not even 3 hours later I had gotten my target buck and felt so blessed. Give it all to God

As if anyone here on youtube cares about seeing the shot....take the better shot if it means the animal doesnt suffer. Pisses me off knowing the animal didnt die quick because we have to get the shot on camera. Gives hunting a bad reputation.

I agree and made a similar comment. I believe he deleted mine. Interesting how many people like this video and how often they say he is an ethical hunter.

I love catmans channel. He seems like suck a humble guy, and I love how informational his channel is. With that being said I love your channel also bc I get to see you kill deer I will never get a chance at. I also love how you involve Jesus in almost every episode on your channel. Jesus needs to be the focus of everyone's life especially knowing where he brought me from. God bless you fellas, and yall have a good season.

Yea. Don’t shoot towards someone’s house. You should lose your hunting licenses for that. This wasn’t during a hunt but I have seen him shoot towards a house at a buck before. Should’ve lost it then. Only reason I’m watching is because the “cops called” title. I don’t support the channel because of your poor hunting ethics.
